TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 Ok I've read this post and I'm still lost. My PS2 keeps giving me Disk Read Error for all my games except one. That game is Konckout Kings 2001 which I havne't touched for years. Yet it works but Madden 2004, HCTP, NBA 2003 and other new games don't. Is there anything I can do except send it off to Sony? When I emailed Sony they told me to try a diagnostic on the console, which requires reading any disc to see if the system is fine or not. Which would be great, if my problem weren't a fricking disc read error!!! So it looks like I'll have to talk to Mr. PS2 Techie guy, and ship it off to get repaired... Remember: NEVER MENTION ANY THIRD PARTY STUFF. EVER. They won't even touch your console if you even mention that shit to them. Not a 3P controller, memory card, or other peripheral.....as AJ Styles would say, ZIP IT!

You could try to fix it yourself, but it will void your warranty. From what I've read, a good amount of people have been able to fix the disc read errors on their own, without sending the system to Sony. Tech TV has a step-by-step walkthrough for anyone who wants to try to fix the PS2 on their own.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Yeah my PS2 will freeze up when I have HCTP in too long.... HCTP is the devil, I tells ya!
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 It's easier just to send it in and make the cheap bastards fix it themselves. We shouldn't have to fix something they made crappy. And as someone already said: NO THIRD PARTY STUFF OR YOU ARE SCREWED Also: DO NOT MENTION CLEANING FLUIDS! ACT AS STUPID AS YOU CAN BE! Also: if you ever dropped it, DO NOT tell them Basically, if you did any of the above....lie your ass off when you call them and then ask whatever the hell you believe in for forgiveness or a turkey sandwich with mayo and lettuce on the side later. starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Well, just to let you in on what's happened in this saga, I got the PS2 back today, and I'd presume that everything that was wrong is repaired, but... I can't open the fricking disc tray, so I couldn't tell you. Beauty, eh?

starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 that PS2 is as bad as Toronto's Defence get a new machine, whatever it is. Screw that, they're either fixing it (and paying my shipping), or replacing it for me. Anyways, that annoying chippie at support told me (in a rather condescending tone) I needed to "push the tray in as you push the open button", which I hadn't tried, because I figured that would keep the tray shut. And when I got home and tried it, guess what? I was right. Oh, and though I'm a Leafs fan, I still say that that is one sweet avatar. It should become a new rule - all goalies must wear toques over their masks. But that's a discussion for another folder.
Guest bort Report post Posted January 11, 2004 Me and My friend both got Ps2s on the first day they came out, they both stoped playing blue discs, he sent his to get fixed and it came back playing no discs. Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted January 11, 2004 The PS2 knows everything. It knows what time it is when you're playing, when you save, and it knows how long you've been playing certain games. In Madden, it knows the weather for any city in America. Just customize the weather for that stadium, such as Paul Brown Stadium. If its snowing in Cleaveland at the time, it will be snowing in your game. I would beware if I were you.
