Smart Mark Mistakes

Recommended Posts

I though Brock Lesnar had immense talent and was going to save us from Triple H title reigns left and right.

Definitely a big mistake. He has zero talent, can't do a move that people claim he has perfected, and I want Triple H to save us from Lesnar title reigns left and right.

Considering that Hunter sabotaged Brock's title reign before he could get off the ground...

JUH?!?!

I thought it was crap because he lost to the BIG FREAKIN SHOW clean in a four minute span. I insult Show because at the time he was wrestling Heat matches left and right and was lucky to get a spot on PPV.

The night after Summerslam HHH claimed Brock only won because Hunter softened up The Rock.

I can't believe some people still think Brock has "zero talent."

I wouldn't say zero, but outside his matches vs. Angle, Rock and Taker.....has Brock had any really good matches with anyone?

In the matches with the above three mentioned, we all know who carried the match...I'm just shocked how people rate UT/Brock HiaC so good. Maybe its the monster blade job by Taker.

Oh I forgot about that. I was boycotting WWE when Brock first won the title so I only remember reading a few recaps of the show...

Damn HHH! (secretly hides giant poster of him tacked onto my wall)

His matches with Show were already mentioned by Barron. There was a few he had with both Benjamin and Haas on the early shows in 2003. Don't know if you count house show matches, but there's another bunch he's had with Benoit and Eddie. Additionally, the triple threat he had with Rock & HHH at the Global Warning tour in Australia was definitely a great encounter. Not to mention, his Rebellion match-up with Edge.

So Brock is like Hogan.

He only works hard outside the United States.

I can't REALLY count House Shows because only a few thousand people at most will see the match.

I watch Smackdown rarely for the past year unless something goods on, so I can't judge his matches v. Team Angle, although I remember the gauntlet match he had was bleh.

I know his matches v. Show (on PPV) were decent but were only 4-5 minutes long each. And after thinknig it over he had a decent Stretcher Match on Judgement Day v. Show.

Damn it, I proved myself wrong.

How can you make a fair judgment, if you're not a regular viewer of Smackdown, nor count his house show or overseas matches?

That leaves only a few PPV matches.

TBS, at that point in time (November 2002) had the conditioning of a beached whale. They only went four minutes, because that's all Show COULD PHYSICALLY GO.

Same thing for the Rumble.

***1/2+ matches in consecutive PPV's after that.

April: Cena buckled under the pressure of a PPV title match; most of the blame were put squarely on his shoulders, resulting in his de-push.

May: Gimmick match.

July: ***1/2 match.

August: ***1/2+ match.

October: Haven't seen the match, but most of the posters here liked it.

Brock is the hardest underrated worker in the fed. He's a monster and he runs, jumps, bumps and sells like a guy 100lbs lighter. He picks up and throws around the biggest of men like rag dolls. But, he makes it look so easy he never gets credit.

I dont watch on a regular basis I meant. I watch SD 1 week out of 3 usually, unless its REALLY Bad.

I watched all of his "matches" from his debut until his title win and everything from Unforgiven to SSeries last year.

So I have seen enough of him I think. I'm not a fan of his so why should I really want to watch all his matches?

I don't know where this is gonig to lead, but yes I am an Angle fan.

I Watch Smackdown mainly to see Angle, Benoit and a good Cruiserweight match. If none of the above, then I probably will either skip it or just watch briefly without paying attention.

If you shut out a wrestler like you did Lesnar, you would've been doing the same thing for Kurt Angle in his first few months as a WWF worker.

Most of his early work was heavily overrated and full of feuds with unmotivated slugs, save for his Wrestlemania 2000 triple-threat with the Canadian Chris Twins.

That's why I made the statement that your description of Brock being "very mediocre" is a bad judgment, based on his work from TWELVE MONTHS AGO.

Oh. Your right, I kinda did the same thing about Angle, except I said he was boring.

Like I said, maybe its just hate for Brock because he wouldn't return the job to Hogan after Hogan lost to as freaking bearhug on national television.

Brock was never asked to return the job to Hogan.

And why should Brock return the job to Hogan to begin with?

The whole point of that match was to put Brock over huge

To elaborate on what Barron said, Hogan made the demand to Vince that he win the return match at Survivor Series in MSG...for the title. I'm assuming that Vince promised a return match to Hogan for the job in August, yet he rescinded on his offer.

I was really looking forward to Brock vs. Angle WM - they had so many things to build on and they could reflect it in that match. I thought there was so much potential. I was wrong. I admit it.

Umm.. I liked HHH in 99. Yeah. I know. I was going through this "anti-face" phase and he was just getting pushed as a heel and the "my time" thing... Oh god... what have I done??

Like I've said in other threads, being a super-Hogan fan, he could do no wrong in my opinion.

Hell, I watched Smackdown more when he was on than but since he left I watch for the few bright spots.

To go back to something way earlier. Brock didn't lose to Big Show clean at Survivor Series. He had injured ribs, was hit by the chair, and chokeslammed on it. Hardly clean.

It still did more harm than good to have the Big Show of all people beating Brock for the title after putting Brock over anyone who got in his way.

Original XIX plan: Heel Brock (champ) v. Face Angle.

With Lesnar's injury: Face Brock v. Heel Angle (champ).

Big Show was a transitional champion to Angle the WHOLE WAY. Giving anyone else the "transitional champ" role would've sucked the air out of their character (Benoit or Edge).

Was the plan always for Show to be a transition champion, or was Lesnars injury bad enough to be forced to give Show the title?

Because going by your lay out, it says Heel Brock as champion, even though he was already turned face a few weeks before SSeries I thought.

Well, it wasn't the WWE turning him face; it was the crowds who were finally "getting" his character.

I THINK that the original plans had heel Brock going all the way to Mania with the title, with face Angle knocking him off.

Thinking Brock was worthless (truthfully though, he got better)...

Thinking the Big Show/Brock feud would never lead to anything got (it got them both over more)...

Thinking Austin wasn't completely full of shit with his "shoot" and that when he came back that things would change. Instead, he's part of the problem right now.

Thinking No Mercy would absolutely, totally suck...

I fell into the same trap w/ Booker and HHH at Mania. Ditto for Jericho vs HBK.

I never thought Book had a shot, but I thought Jericho would win.

I think we've all pretty much realized by now that believing something positive will come out of a HHH match is a bad thing to do.

Yep, we've officially perverted this thread's intent.
