This week's edition of Raw did a 3.6 rating, with a 5 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is down from last week's 3.7 rating. The show did hours of 3.5 and 3.7. The highest rated segment was the overrun, which did a 4.0.

Too much Randy Orton for it to be considered a good show. In my opinion it was an average show just like the rating.

No, however it should be noted that when they did that last year there was a big a jump in the ratings.

Don't expect the wheel to break. I believe that since the Goldberg car fiasco they've opted to pre-tape backstage segments. Hell, the entire backstage portion of Kane/Shane from SurSer was pre-taped.

As RRR basically said, ratings trends have shown in the past that a show won't have an effect on the ratings until the following week.

 

So we'll find out if this show was really good and had any impact on the ratings when *next week's* rating comes in.

The exception of the rule is the Raw after a PPV which usually brings in big ratings.

Mondays show was a "base show" which set the foundation for next week. WWE probably expected people who did not watch the PPV to watch RAW to see what happened with Austin and Bischoff and who the new GM is. From there they attempted to "hook" the audience with various storylines (take your pick: Kane/Goldberg, HHH/Goldberg, Jericho/Trish, Christian/Lita/Matt Hardy, RVD/Orton). (Hopefully for the WWE) People will become attached to at least one of these programs and watch next week with the added incentive of Raw Roulette and gimmick matches. The key now is to "blow up" a fued at next weeks RAW - be it Kane vs. Goldberg (best bet), Trish and Jericho, HHH and Evolution - so fans can "hold on" to that series until at least the Royal Rumble, at the most WM.

But the hope isn't founded in anything. It's more of a "I wish people would have seen this show". If it was an expectedly good show and nobody tuned in, then there could be disappointment.

 

You know, like me and PRIDE Final Conflict - a fantastic show that you knew would be good, but people didn't watch cause people are stupid.

I really liked this weeks show. I would have liked them to got a higher rating. But they are doing good stuff. Hopefully there's some good word of mouth going around from us wrestling fans to others and might get more people tuning in, then new people tuning in tell their friends and so on. That's how you build an audience.

 

Hopefully WWE figures that shock TV or gimmicked shows just to get media attention or a short term rating spike really does nothing in the long term.

 

I'll be honest this Jericho-Trish thing has had me talking to friends who I haven't talked about wrestling since the Angle-Steph-HHH feud finished(which many of my friends totally gave up on wrestling with the poor pay off to that feud). They keep it up with 3 or 4 good angles and feuds and we might see a gradual increase going into Royal Rumble. As long as they don't screw it all up

They have to stop turning Spike TV into RNN, and instead make it Molly Night Raw.

 

Cowboy Bob Orton didn't say much, and did no begging for attention, just kick ass. Yet he got tons of heat, and for into the main event at Wrestlemania. Piper helped.

 

Randy Orton is too much of a hog. Probably not his fault. He should be more like the evil mirror of Maven.

 

Meanwhile, Molly with just one move shows that she can command a show. She even got Bischoff to do her bidding, and she didn't have to sleep with him to get her way. Too bad Christian actually is falling on love.
