Guest Redhawk Report post Posted November 19, 2003 1. Atlanta = It's already been proven that this whole franchise goes to hell if Michael Vick gets hurt. I think priority No. 2 (behind getting some good DBs) this offseason is to get a decent backup QB. 2. Tennessee = Not like Steve McNair ever gets hurt, but his backups are Jason Gesser (a undrafted rookie) and Billy Volek (I don't know who he is either. I wonder is Jeff Fischer even knows who he is. He probably calls him "Neil" on accident all the time). 3. Arizona = It's not like Jeff Blake is great or anything, but their backups -- Josh McCown and Parsons Preston -- aren't scaring anybody. 4. Oakland = As if Rick Mirer isn't bad enough, his backup is Rob Johnson. And after Johnson gets injured on the game's fifth play, it's either Tee Martin or Ronald Curry (who is actually listed as a WR). 5. Green Bay = I'm not sure how good Craig Nall and Doug Pederson are, but after backing up Brett Favre they probably don't even remember what it's like to play football. They probably don't even read the playbook. 6. Baltimore = Behind Anthony Wright, it's Chris Redman or Ray Lucas. A short story about Lucas: After his terrible performance filling in for Jay Fiedler last year in Miami, a friend and I said that if Lucas kept it up, we were gonna have to kick him out of the Black Quarterbacks Club. Now, if you ask us, Ray Lucas is Indian. 7. Dallas = Chad Hutchinson (No. 2 QB) owns the distinction as my worst Madden 2004 performance ever; 4 completions, 5 INTs, 6 sacks. The No. 3 quarterback is Tony Romo (not the BBQ guy). 8. New York Giants = If Kerry Collins goes down, it's Jason Garrett (wasn't he supposed to be Troy Aikman's heir apparent?) or Jesse Palmer (who couldn't even hold down the starting spot in college...then again, he was playing for Steve Spurrier). 9 (tie). Buffalo, Indianapolis, Washington = Drew Bledsoe, Peyton Manning and Patrick Ramsey and backed up by Alex Van Pelt, Brock Huard and Tim Hasselbeck, respectively. The only problem is that those guys are the only other QBS on their team's rosters. So if they go down, it's over. (San Diego also only has 2 QBs, but Drew Brees is a lot better than the aforementioned trio.)
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 New England would be in trouble..Damon Huard and Rohan Davey.. The Redskins probably cant afford to lose Ramsey. Tim Hasselbeck is their only backup QB. Tim Hasselbeck! The Bengals would be screwed if Kitna got hurt. Rookie Carson Palmer or reject Shane Matthews? Their playoff hopes would be dashed.. Pittsburgh might be better off with their backup Charlie Batch.. I doubt Todd Collins could be trusted with the KC offense.. The Panthers would be in trouble if they had to go with Rodney Peete who sucked last year.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 From what I have seen of Eagles preseason games Hasselbeck wouldn't be that bad. Granted it was preseason, but he had accuracy. The original list seems pretty dead on with what I would think. I would just move Green Bay up the list, because Doug Pederson is terrible. At least Rob Johnson has some dicernable skill and Josh McCown at least has a little promise.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Bengals NEED Jon Kitna in the worst way. Some might argue "Just put the ball in Rudi/Corey's hand and it's all good". It's more then that...He is a total leader on that field.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Ramsey wants to be the next Brett Favre...hes been playing with a broken bone in his foot the whole year apparently and doesnt know how or when it happened but he intends to keep playing...

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Yeah, it's not really worth it at this point. The kid is going to be a stud one day. Don't get him shell shocked now. Wait....what am I saying. Keep him in Steve. Your job is on the line. You can't afford to give up the season yet.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Van Pelt still plays for Buffalo? Geez, I thought he had retired by now.

The No. 3 quarterback is Tony Romo (not the BBQ guy). Hutchinson is probably better than Carter. The Panthers would be in trouble if they had to go with Rodney Peete who sucked last year. Peete put up good numbers for the most part. I mean the team could only win with him in. Any QB could win in the system Carolina has right now.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 19, 2003 didn't the Panthers go 7-9 with Peete and that WAS without Davis...

Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Yeah. He wasn't really that bad. 7 TDs and 8 INTs. He did pretty well considering he had no running game, no receivers and no line to keep him from getting hit.

You know what the best thing about Tim Hasselbeck is? His wife, Elizabeth from Survivor Australia. Damn that girl is nice...
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Buffalo wouldn't be much worse with Van Pelt at QB. He's not capable of the big numbers that Bledsoe is, but he's also might be less likely to try and do too much.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 I would like to clear up alot of misunderstandings and misconceptions about the New England QB situation. First of all Rohan Davey is NOT ever going to be a NFL starting QB. The guy isn't good from what I have watched of him. Secondly, while Huard is a decent QB, without Brady this team is nothing. People look at Brady and see nothing but an average QB. That is FAR from the truth. Tom Brady brings those hard to find "QB Intangibles" that makes him great. He worked his ass off in the off-season to be more accurate on the deep pass, successfully. He reads defenses better than 90% of the other QB's in the league. He is incredible at selling the play fake. He never gets rattles under pressure, I could go on... People always look back at 2001 and even this team and say it's ALL because of the Defense that New England is succeeding. I disagree, if it wasn't for timely big plays and not turning the ball over this team would be nothing. Someday Tom will get the credit he deserves
