Downloading movies.......

Recommended Posts

The two programs I use for most of my movie needs are BitTorrent and eMule.

Download a good bittorrent client here. Then go to torrent sites like suprnova.org or btsites.tk and click on the links. You can also right click--->save the torrent links for later use.

BitTorrent is good and easy to use, but it's kinda hard to get older releases on it. For that I use eMule. It's also easy to set up and you'll find almost everything on it. Good movie links are at FileHeaven. You have to join their board to get to the good stuff, but it's worth it. It also has a fun community that's not that different from TSM. They have a help forum where you can ask questions, too.

How come when I am trying to connect to emule servers, it keeps saying....."server appears to be dead" ? Does it just take awhile to link with a server?

Is there anything out there that allows you to actually download movies at your high-speed modems potential, INSTANTLY? Or is it rule of thumb with downloading movies, that you are just going to have to DEAL WITH waiting in a que with 10 people ahead of you, until it is your turn, and then suffering through a slow kpbs rate because the person has 50 other uploads going at once?

BitTorrent runs on the idea that one person sends a file, he sends it to (x) amount of people, while they get it they send it to (x) amount of people, etc. When someone's done, it's usually good etiquette to help send a little bit before you close the window and leave.

However, downloading movies from public sites like suprnova that IBM mentioned above is risky as BitTorrent is suddently The Hip New Thing to download movies with, and those public repositories of movies are being spyed on by the MPAA. Which is not to say just downloading one movie will get you sued (particularly if it's an older movie that's been in theaters quite a while now), but don't cream your pants and start downloading everything in sight.

It helps if you change the ports BitTorrent uses, which can be done by clicking on Prefs in the client I posted and then changing the port range in the upper right corner to something different.

Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz

Get PeerGuardian, a firewall which will block most enemy IP addresses, it shouldn't hurt anything.
