Manhunt

Recommended Posts

Guest Kamui

My friend who's into those types of games is raving about it and tells me that if you like Metal Gear or Splinter Cell, you'll LOVE Manhunt. It's not personally my type of game, but hey, if you like those games, apparently you can't do much better than Manhunt, so have fun.

-Duo

Helpful, if nothing else.

Edit: Oh, to add something else he told me- initally I thought it was like GTA and told him, figuring it would be like that because it's a Rockstar game, but he quickly corrected me and said the game is really nothing like GTA. At all. Just thought I'd throw that in here since I know lots of people on this board are GTA fans and might make the same assumption I did.

I got it and played it a bit.

I'll say this...the game is more terrifying than any survival horror game I've played. Trying to sneak up on guys with weapons is creepy enough...but blowing it and having them come after you...trying to hide in shadows while that guy is right in front of you...praying he doesn't spot you...it's something else.

Did you play with the USB headset? I heard that the "Director" can communicate with you through the headset and you can use the voice command to set traps for gang members.

yes I did in fact.

if you use a headseat it is even better.

You can hear the director through the TV if you don't use the headseat...but it's far better to hear him yelling sadistic things while you're sneaking up on someone right on your ear. Also, if you talk into the mic it makes noise around your character as if he had talked...so you can lure bad guys out of spots when they hear you and then pounce on them.

Got this game the day after it came out. I was looking foward ot it and i think its great. I really don't think it's that repetitive either(im at the trailer part with the nailgun) and I love this game so far. I don't have a headset, so obviously I am not using one. The TV, although its an alternatiove, sounds fine also, and bricks, bottles and other things can still be used to distract the enemies. I have to agree with you totally though, this game is scary as fuck. Not only are you hiding with them right in front of you, but those guys are SOOO fucking angry, my god. "I'm gonna get ya ya little mother fucker!!!!!" That's the greatest thing with the southern accent LOL. Anyway, I would give it a 8.7 or 9 out of 10. I really do enjoy this game. I reccomend it highly.

A great game, bought it on release day and have been playing it nonstop since. No other game gives you the chance to decapitate Nazi fucks with a wire and then use that head to distract and kill his friends.

The graphics fit the game perfectly and give it a creepy atmosphere. But if you don't have patience, don't even bother with this game, unless you have a gun, it's almost impossible to kill more than one guy at a time.

I'll leave the review to someone else but I HIGHLY reccommend this game.

C'mon, how can you go wrong.

This game owns!!! If you are a fan of horror or gore flicks this is definately the game for you. The graphics are awesome, and the gameplay is solid. It should be mentioned that Rockstar games(same makers as Grand Theft Auto and GTA III)is the maker of this one and GTA fans might wanna check it out. I can see how people say that this game resembles Splinter Cell, but the overall game story is totally different than anything I have ever seen.

I've been playing this for the past few hours.

In the dark.

With headphones on.

lol, it's a great game. I wasn't sure I'd like it but everything about it draws you in. The atmosphere is as intense as any game I've played and the sound effects add really put the game over. From your guy's heart beat whilst he's hiding in the shadows to the comments made by the gang members ("Aww, he's hiding like a little pussy", it's scary stuff. Sometimes the music will just cut off completely and you know something bad is coming..

The kill scenes are quite violent - after you kill a guy you can carry on beating on his body, splattering his brains on the floor. You can actually see the seperate pieces of his brain..nice eh? The AI is great too, the gangs will actually notice and comment on any dead bodies. I saw one kicking a body to check if he had any life in him..he didn't..he didn't even have a head

Anyway, very good game B-)

My manager says to me today..

"Card anyone trying to buy Manhunt. Anyone, I don't care if they're 95."

Apparently there's been some angry mothers coming in to stores around me bitching about idiot Game Advisors selling fucking Manhunt to children.

"Look lady, we're not here to do your job"

Any word on this coming out for PC like the GTA series, for those of us PS2-less folks?

Nope, I was talking about the machette. Those deaths are the sickest I've seen so far..

And then there's the steal hook..the yellow death with that is brutal

I like what I have played so far, but it's really hard. Just like Splinter Cell. I die all the time.

You kill people with a CHAINSAW?

Is this game something along the lines of you being a serial killer...only you HAVE to do what you do to live?

Yeah, you don't have a choice. You were on death row and they saved you but are forcing you to make these movies. It's a fight for survival.

Then buy it. Believe me, (In my oppinion anyway) its really worth it.

The last time I bought a game before renting it [Wrestlemania X8 on GC], I regretted it. Big time. I'm not taking any chances at 70-80 bucks a pop.
