I remember when SNL wouldn't let artist perform on the show unless they sing live and had a backing band, or used SNL's. A few years back when the Spice Girls were big they performed on the show and there was a big deal made over it because SNL made them sing live.

What happen to the rules? Now I see Britney, Beyonce and others lip-syncing and music being played through DJ's and mp3's on the show.

I'm sure there are other things that can be said about the show these days, but this really bugs me.

Go fig Barron would come running to this thread in two minutes flat

Considering the sharp decrease in quality of both SNL and popular music since 1995, figures they might as well pair them up together

Only time Beyonce doesn't lip synch is when she starts yelling and screaming and trying to go all James Brown "WOOOOO" stuff. The rest is all backing vocals and over dubs.

I think they sang live for their first song, but they were so horrible that they were lip synching for their 2nd one.
