RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Yeah, but the WWE putting it on Benoit is a validation of his skills - of his effort. It's actually doing something right. It says to everyone who says he'd never get the title, that he'd always be enhancement talent, that he's not "world championship material" - that he is. That he does have the tools to be a Main Eventer. It's the last thing Benoit has to do and if his career ends with him putting over shit like Brock and Cena - if he career was just about making others look good - the that's just wrong. Guest PowerPB13 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 The problem is, it's the people with the WWE mindset that have said that Benoit would never be champion... Benoit won't be the first talented wrestler to never hold a World Title, and he won't be the last. I've realized that, in the world of professional wrestling, very rarely(if ever) do talented wrestlers get the recognition they deserve. At this point, I just enjoy the opportunity to see them perform, even if they never win the belts that I think they deserve. -Patrick
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Benoit is definately going to win it. Kurt Angle said he'd win it soon, and Kurt doesn't lie. Remember when he said he would team with Cena?? BAM! Also, he said he'd like to work with Cena again, this time as a heel and Cena as a face. Anglesault will hate this, but I think they will be feuding later on while Brock and Benoit feud for the belt. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted November 29, 2003 I wouldn't worry about that too much yet. Time will tell what happens I guess. I am sooooooo worrying about it. That, coupled with Smackdown becoming Cenadown makes me believe that Benoit-is-fucked. Smackdown becoming Cenadown does worry me. On the plus side Lesnar's main focus right now seems to be Benoit and it was a good sign how Benoit was the last person Lesnar talked to on Smackdown. Even better was when he said how Benoit would never be champion as compared to Cena when he told him he just hadn't won the gold yet. The one thing I don't like is the thought of a triple threat match at the Rumble. I thought they'd do a triple threat or a 4 way with Angle, Lesnar, Benoit and Holly at No Way Out but now I'm worried the WWE will go with the triple threat at the Rumble. Hopefully not. Just some more thoughts: I don't know what they're going to do on Smackdown next week as it's up in the air. I could see Benoit beating Cena and than facing Lesnar only to get screwed over by interference (or they'll play the Benoit and Cena are too tired card) leading to the "climax" of the feud at the Rumble. I suspect we'll have interference in Cena vs Benoit as well as I don't see how either of them can really afford to lose right now although Benoit perhaps because I could see him voluntarily in the back raising his hand to lose. Lesnar won't go down either because he's the champ. The WWE has kind of booked themselves into a corner here and it's going to take them some imaginative thinking to get out of it. Still, I'm really looking forward to it to the point of where I'm contemplating about not reading the spoilers next week.

I don't blame you for being sceptical. I know I am. They're going through with Lesnar vs Goldberg at Wrestlemania XX. Common sense says it can't be a title shot because the brand extension isn't going anywhere. If this is actually for the titles or they're both champions come Wrestlemania but it's a non title match I think I would put that up with the stupidest thing any wrestling league has ever done. So, I believe it's safe to say Lesnar and Goldberg have to drop the title. The million dollar question is---to who? As of now, ideally I'd give the title to Angle in a 4 way match at No Way Out. I really hate hotshotting the title but I don't really see what else to do here. Cena doesn't need the belt yet so I'd put him out of the equation. Angle than has to put the title on the line against Benoit at Wrestlemania. The match Angle and Benoit had at the Rumble left a big time opening for a rematch down the line when they used the laying anklelock as a finisher so I think this is a good idea. If I was booking this match, I'd probably have some more brawling in it as at this time Benoit and Angle should be really hating each other perhaps over their natural animosity and Angle costing Benoit the belt against Lesnar at the Rumble . First off, I'd have the match start off brawling and gradually turn into a more technical match. Eventually Angle would put on his dreaded laying anklelock but Benoit won't give up. He than counters the non counterable up to that point anklelock but only gets counterd himself back into the laying anklelock once again. Benoit going for his dream at the biggest wrestling card in history won't give up but than "snap" Benoit's ankle breaks. Angle out of complete frustration knows Benoit just won't submit so he drops his submission stragety and once again goes back to brawling. Here, I'd have a bloody faced Benoit just get pummeled by Angle's brawling. Angle would use the mount posistion used in the UFC and reign down blows until the ref pulls him off. Angle goes for the cover but Benoit barely kicks out. Angle, looking to humilate his long term rival demands the ref give a 10 count for Benoit to get to his feat. Benoit wobbly on his feet after getting up at the 9 count would shout out "C'mon" at Angle and stage a brief brawling comeback. Angle, ever the evil opportunist low blows Benoit and once again mauls Benoit with UFC blows. Benoit would tease a submission reversal here but fail. Frustrated at Benoit's not giving up and not being able to put Benoit away despite using all his offensive strageties goes for his other big manuever. The angle slam off the top rope. Benoit counters into the top rope powerbomb on his absolute last burst of strength giving him the final 3 count and the belt. When you wish upon a star, it doesn't matter who you are... Yeah, a fellow can dream, can't he? Of course, they never did anything with Benoit last year, did they?

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 You guys talking about "Smackdown becoming Cenadown" make me LOL and remind me of people complaining about "Raw is Austin" in 1996. But part of this is because I've long thought Cena was going to be the industry's next big star before it was trendy. The more you guys keep worrying about it makes me feel even smarter for seeing it coming.

I'd love to see Benoit win the tilte but I'm not so much about him winning the title as it is keeping him in the main event or very close to it and letting him shine. The Greatest Robot in the World are two of the best episodes. They could've easily extended that 2 parter into a longer series if they wanted to as the case seems to be with a lot of the episodes. Not only is there great action here but the 2 episodes also present great ethical debates. The original order of the series actually had this in the middle of the series though it doesn't really matter. The episode they didn't show over here which explains Atlas' charactor is gold and perhaps my favourite. I also enjoyed the race around the world and that episode where everyone's forced to land on a planet with no air. To keep this wrestling related, Atlas once used a wrestling hold to drag AstroBenoit down to the sea. Edited November 29, 2003 by wildpegasus

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Well, I'm not 100% convinced that Brock/Goldberg's taking place at Wrestlemania anyway, but if it does, and they don't make it title vs. title, they should get the belt off Goldberg way before they get off Brock. Goldberg's current run just bores me to tears. Now I don't want to get crucified or anything, but if I were booking, I'd probably go with Austin/Goldberg for the Raw main event at WM, and let Brock/Edge be the Smackdown main event. Benoit and Cena both seem a little played, and if Edge won the RR as a surprise entrant, he'd be crazy over.

Guest XxSmashxXxHeadxX Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Benoit needs a title shot. I don't think he's ever been the WWE champ but Brock has been the champion twice and he's only been around for what like 2 years or less.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Actually, Brock's currently enjoying his third reign. The problem with Benoit is that his character is just too weak right now to justify being world champion. Characterwise, he was a hell of a lot better when he was the vicious heel feuding with The Rock. Benoit just doesn't have the mic skills to be an elite face. Come to think of it, heel Benoit would be perfect to feud with Goldberg right now. He could get screwed out of the title on Smackdown next week and get one "last shot ever" at the Rumble which of course he would lose. Then he could "snap" on everyone, mainly faces, but also Heyman. Then he'd be released or traded to Raw where he'd wreak havoc as a heel. Of course, upon starting his money feud with Goldberg, he'd probably get kicked and the head and knocked senseless, but what can you do?
Guest Username Report post Posted November 30, 2003 not sure if this has been posted but just incase: from NODQ.com: As of right now, the current plan for Lesnar is to feud with Hardcore Holly throughout the month of December. There is also much talk of a possible WWE Championship match between the two, which would be happening on Smackdown. The championship match would simply be to keep interest in the feud, and would be happening on one of the "bigger" episodes of SmackDown! After the feud with Hardcore Holly is finished, it is said that Lesnar could defend the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble against Chris Benoit. If Benoit were to win, they would most likely schedule a rematch for the championship at February's Smackdown-brand only PPV; No Way Out. After the Benoit/Lesnar feud finishes up, then they would start working on Lesnar's match at Wrestlemania 20. There is talk of having a first ever Lesnar/Goldberg match, as a RAW vs. SD gimmick match. if all goes to plan, benoit WILL be having a short title run...hey, it's better than nothing i guess. hopefully this short title run will have some amazing matches. but i'm STILL skeptical since reading that they changed the main event for upcoming house shows from benoit vs lesnar to cena vs lesnar. i still believe that they're gonna let cena take benoits place...the WWE is stupid like that. plus from the way things are going with everyone chanting cena, it is looking more likely. Ideally, I'd have Benoit win at Wrestlemania as he is popular in MSG.
