Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 I just watched the video of it, which you can get here. I'm also going to assume you all know what happened, and if you don't, someone will explain, or you can just watch the video. I've never seen anything like that before, and it's a good thing SD isn't live. I do have a question though... ...did NO ONE in the ring realize what they were doing, untill that production guy came up to the ring, hit the ring, and told them? How could they go through the entire angle and no one realize what they are saying? Still, great job at fixing this fuck up for TV. Sincerely, ...Downhome... Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Can you just explain it? From 1wrestling... The reason for the re-tape of the finish of the 20 man battle royal is not correct or at least not all of the story. The main mess up came when Paul Heyman got them all in the ring and asks each referee a few questions. He asks the ref that was holding up Benoit hand for victory "Tell me what you saw?" The ref responds that he saw Benoit’s feet hit the ground first and that he should be declared the winner (remember in a battle royal if you feet hit the ground your are eliminated which would mean that Benoit which he says is the winner if his feet hit first then he should loose, right?) Heyman then goes to the ref that is holding up Cena’s hand in victory and his ref does the same thing. I think that this is what really prompted the re-tape since the refs really screwed up but to give them credit Heyman kind of led them into it. He did at one point ask each of the refs to "Do you swear to me that Benoit’s feet hit first?" (when asking the pro-Benoit ref) Maybe a little confusing but they did cover well. I think the second one came off better than the first anyway. There was way more crowd reaction for the re-tape. The crowd was chanting "Triple Threat" Paul had to silence them for a bit by giving a great "SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!" ...from there, what you saw on TV took place. It's just so funny when actually watching it happen, you can tell that they are all pissed off, especially Heyman.
Guest OnlyMe Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Fair enough. I can see how they'd screw it up, in fairness.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 I think what happened, is that first ref fucked up and either everyone else got confused, or they just "went with it", I dunno. I just found it amusing.

Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted November 30, 2003 BitTorrent was surprisingly quick to download. And there were no stupid terms of service to scroll through - ahem, I mean, read. That was some funny shit. I mean, how could BOTH refs AND Heyman mess that up? I guess they were caught up in the moment. Heyman did a good job trying to cover afterwards though.
