Pro Wrestling Criticizer Attracted to Wrestling?

Recommended Posts

Guest JumpinJackFlash

I was watching No Way Out 2002 last night (which is probably known by everyone now), and my brother's friend came into my room and watched it for a bit. He kept saying it was fake, with these comments:

"If they were REALLY punching, they'd have bruises."

"They're barely punching eachother!"

"He's letting him chop him!"

"He's barely holding him in the bear hug!"

But then he made a few interesting comments, like:

"Head on Turnbuckle! That must hurt!"

"The chair, now that's real!"

"But he tapped out, how could he win?"

The thing is, even though he HATED wrestling, he sat through 20 minutes of it. If he hated it so much, why didn't he just leave the room and watch Big Daddy on Fox? I don't know. I think he was pulled into the match, and so he stayed to watch. Do you have any explanations for this kind of odd behavoir?

I was watching Rumble 92 off the Flair DVD and a wrestling hater came in. She crticized the start, but kept checking back every few minutes to see if Flair had been eliminated yet. Then in the last part(from IRS's elimination) she was hooked to see if Flair would survive.

For reasons I'll NEVER get --- when a "wrestling hater" actually WATCHES it --- they tend to like it. Show a "hater" one of the Hardys/E & C/Duds ladder matches and the "hater" will go nuts for it.

HMM, SOMEONE WHO CRITICIZES WWE YET IS STILL ATTRACTED TO IT.

I've never heard of such a thing.

Oh, wait.

If only there was a place for those poor unfortunate souls to gather and discuss the sport they hate so much yet can't stop watching.

In the case of most critics --- they criticize simply because they WANT improvement.

It's like saying that a fan who says that, say, the Buffalo Bills suck must HATE the Bills, rather than a fan who would rather see them succeed.

I just remembered this funny thing that happened a while back. I was playing Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth, and my mom decided to watch me play. While she was watching, she asked, "Who's supposed to win?"

I remember trying to get my dad to watch some ROH. He finally did, thought it was okay. But then, he turned on WWE Sunday night heat by accident just in time to see Maven fuck up a spin kick and fall flat on his back, while Rosey did some other dumb move.

I just left the room in shame.

Flair can do that to people.

Next time a wrestling hater interrupts your watching try this....next time they are watching their favorite show(say friends for example), then say stuff like "Ross would NEVER do that" or "What the hell, do any of these people have jobs?" And when they say, "Dude, it's a show." Then tell them to fuck off next time they see you watching wrestling and have to chime in with their dumbass comments.

The hater: At least they aren't gay and rubbing each other's naked bodies in their underwear.

The Fan: I don't know about you, but I see two men engaging in simulated hand-to-hand combat. The fact that you see something sexual about such a practice, when wrestling itself is one of the world's oldest sports, then maybe you need to re-think your sexual identity.

Heh..."who's supposed to win"...haha...

I always thought a wrestling game where the point was to put on the best matches possible, instead of just winning, would be cool. Like, a "smark" wrestling game, if you will.

And I remember I started yelling at my TV because Michael Shane was about to win and keep the X-Division title. My mother came down and said "if something's happening you don't like, change the channel."

My mother started yelling at the TV because the Patriots pulled a succession of stupid plays, and could lose the game. I enter the room and say "if something's happening you don't like, change the channel."
