Guest Mr. Brook River Report post Posted November 30, 2003 You know, I look forward to Thanksgiving for weeks, but I've recently noticed that I'm one of the only people that do. Thanksgiving in my family includes a 27 lbs bird (on average), two pots of mashed potatoes, and three different kinds of stuffing, just to name the primary courses. Leftovers last for more than a week, and our actual Thanksgiving gathering lasts from around 5:00, to at least 11:30, and once again, I feel relatively alone in this sense. At around 7:00, I went online to check a thread I recently responded to, and I noticed most all away messages had to do with being bored, or wanting to go see a movie, or hanging out with some friends, all of which stunned me. Everyone celebrates Thanksgiving differently, and I respect that, but I never realized my mode of celebration was so extravagent. Is it really so? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 1, 2003 It's the same old same old for me. You get tired of your family. You see them all the time...in my case...that's not so bad. But it's just like a normal thing...we sit in two different bunches... About 15 of us sit in the Living room watch the football game...and eat and make light talk. About 10 sit in the back room where they all smoke and talk business. Xmas is the bitch of it...We do the EXACT same fucking thing and it's a pain to find the person you're trying to give the present to... Which is why last year we sadly did this Arranged a spot in the living room where each person had their "spot" and everyone would put their present to that person on it in a pile. It was pathetic to see one person (my father) get about 27 different presents and my Cousin get like 2 presents right next to him. Wish I could say the same thing about my moronic brother. You want crowded houses. Try being my Grandma and Grandpa. Every Sunday she'd make dinner for around 20 people. Every Sunday for what must of been over 20 years inside a summer house. Almost every Sunday, my Grandpa would yell at me for not eating all my food or not eating enough (i'm not a big meat eater) To top that off, we'd see everyone almost everyday swimming and sitting on the doc, on the property was Grandparents owned. . My mom's side of the fam gets things going at around noon and we're done by four or five. They just wanna get on with their lives, I guess. The day after Thanksgiving though, my brother and I traveled down to Ohio to see some members of my dad's side of the family. They're pretty loaded, so it was pretty nice to just kick back with some good, generous people in a comfy house.
