Renegade Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I think when you own the arcade version you qualify for hardcore status. Do you own the cabinet or the cps-2 hardware?
EricMM Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I gotta give the nod to Tekken. I mean, ONCE I would have given it to street fighter. But now? The most recent SF games have NOT been the best in their respective field. GG is. Tekken, however, is.
Anya Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Do you own the cabinet or the cps-2 hardware? It's in a cabinet. One of those hoss 33 inch moniter machines.
Renegade Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Damn what do you or your folks do for a living?
Guest Kamui Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Do you own the cabinet or the cps-2 hardware? It's in a cabinet. One of those hoss 33 inch moniter machines. Can I come visit you? Please? Seriously, do you have any other arcade machines?
Jer Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Where are these Mortal Kombat votes coming from? No one that's posted has mentioned it, yet it has five votes. I'd like to see someone justify it, since it's like not that good a series. I mean it had cool atmosphere and stuff, but compared to the other games up there (except KI), it's really shallow and simple and kinda boring.

Probably from people who have only ever played MK, hence why they're not bothering to defend/compare it to the other games.
Anya Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Seriously, do you have any other arcade machines? MK, MK II, MK 4, KI 2, MSH vs. SF. I'll defend MK. Even though I didn't pick it, I still like it. Justifying it is simple: Not everyone thinks shallow and simple gameplay is boring.

Now, MK2 is undoubtfully the best of the series, but UMK3 is still a hundred times better than the putrid pile of crap that is MK4.
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 I'm going with Tekken, if only because it seems like each game got better (haven't played Tekken 4 yet, mostly because I've been in a "unless it's GTA, a FPS, or a wrestling game, I won't play it" mood in recent years...with the exception of the PS2 TMNT). I would have gone with SF, but two games in the franchise made me pick Tekken over it... Street Fighter: The Movie Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha

I think MKII is the best of the series, but I wouldn't say "undoubtfully." I was giving Sakura a bit of a hard time for declaring certain games "best ever" and so forth. It goes both ways. I hated every MK3, and while MK4 didn't really click with me, I liked it far more than any of the MK3 titles. I would have gone with SF, but two games in the franchise made me pick Tekken over it... Street Fighter: The Movie Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha Neither were actually programmed by Capcom. Well, the home versions of SF: TM were I believe, but not the arcade. Damnit Capcom, you screwed up your own record... You forgot about Street Fighter II the Movie. The Import-Only Saturn game...the FMV game.

MK4 was the laziest excuse for a sequel I've ever seen in my life. At least by the time we got to UMK3 they seemed to actually be TRYING.

A few new backgrounds + a bunch of palette-swapped ninjas = trying?

The only reason I don't have a MK3 machine is because I simply haven't had the chance to get one yet. Finding a dedicated MK3 cabinet for sale and in decent condition is not easy. I want the real thing, with Kahn and Sindel on the side, not some weaksauce conversion from an old MK1 machine. I do have a UMK3 board and marquee though. And MK II is not undoubtfully the best. I like 3 more than II.
Guest The Rising Star Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 The reason why I didn't include other game series than the six, is because I really don't know that much about those other games.
