Oh my God. Can you guys go one thread without trying to flame the poor kid?

He seems to be bringing it all on himself.

It's times like these I wish we had the Make Poll Only (no replies allowed) function back. Too many people are bitching at each other.

Anyway, looks like fiscal and foreign are tied, with social in the lead. Though that may change in a few minutes.

I'm all for economic and social policy. I want a prosperous and clean nation.

So you're moving to Japan, eh Kamui. Are you of Japanese descent, by chance? Because if you're a Caucasian in an Osaka or a Tokyo, you're going to have a hard time making it unless you're really got something to offer to a prospective employer. I mean, Koreans that live in Japan are looked down on by the 99% Japanese population, to say nothing of any fair-skinned Americans.

But hey, if you want to be on an island in an oversaturated job market, living in a laughably tiny and pathetically expensive apartment, trying to cram your body into the subway every day, then hell, just move to Manhattan.

Yeah, I never considered that, you know, when I was planning my whole future out. Thanks for informing me.

Oh yeah. Trying? I think we're all beyond "trying" and well into "succeeding."

Yeah I guess he is a kid. I hope he's a kid. "Don't make fun of my cartoons! Sexual ambiguity is cool! Humans are dumber than sewer rats! I'm moving to Japan because America sucks!" That better not be a grown man.

And he should just be thankful he hasn't said anything REALLY self-incriminating and stupid like how he's discovered he's only attracted to pre-pubescent Asian girls and wants to bang those Final Fantasy chicks sooooooooo bad.

Why doesn't someone just start a thread in the Hardcore Discussion folder to contain this?

I think a strong military is important, don't get me wrong, but when your army, navy, air force, and marines are about ten times as powerful than any possible threat (okay, China has the edge in the army, but that's it) and you have nukes on top of that, I think you can afford to cut down.

Money put into the military is never a waste. Remember the militarty is responsible for almost all of the technology advances of the last 30 years. Military spending covers a wide range of things.

I don't think anyone's really saying it's a total waste, just that at least some of it could have been cut back on. Again, for all the complaining they do about Democratic social programs, Republicians sure do get uppity when you try and mention their military spending.

What's the point? If he's going to spout his line of crap in here he might as well take the heat for it here.

A) There's plenty of shitty anime, but lumping it all together because of the bad ones is akin to me saying every American TV show has no worth because of reality TV.

B) Yes, it is.

C) Early trimester fetuses are. Go look it up.

D) /sigh

Of course they do!!! You don't talk about cutting military spending a few years removed from a bunch of nuts flying planes into buildings.

Czech is bringing up stuff from about five different threads. Isn't that the kind of thing that belongs on the Hardcore board?

Yeah, protecting the Swedish and improving our tanks ability to run people over is REALLY relevant to 9/11. /sigh

If those are the conclusions that you draw from it then you really are an ignorant person.

Okay, knock it the hell off with the whole slash-action thing. Are you a robot? Do you type in your program commands? Does writing "/sigh" make you sigh? Couldn't you just write "I wont tell you" instead of "/doesn't tell you"? If it's not "poses, spits water" as a joke, don't write an action. It's not clever nor funny.

Please do not tell me you plan to major in Japanese. Please?

/doesn't tell you

Well, don't.

There's enough people in Japan adept at bilingual English and Japanese that all their call centers and stuff are staffed as well as they need to be. It used to be 12 years ago that people who could speak both languages were paid quite a bit more because they were in demand.

Add in the explosion of people learning the language to be able to understand comic books and anime and you're going to see in a few years huge glut of supply and not nearly enough demand.

Learn Japanese if you want, but don't make it your major.

I didn't say it was all a waste, and I know a lot of military R&D leads to consumer products down the line.

However, we're up to...what...$300 billion in military spending right now, or nearly close to it? Surely some of it can easily be cut, especially with all of the troops stationed in peaceful countries throughout the world for no real practical reason.

Surprisingly, Democrats were the big military spenders decades ago.

I pretty much planned to go as long as I can without declaring my major (with the school I plan to go to, that's end of sophmore year) and see what goes from there. Right now, I can't think of anything else I'd want to major in, but you're certainly right and there's lots of points against majoring in Japanese and there's always the chance I'll develop an interest or skill that I need the major for instead, then yay.

Military spending is one of the most complex and corrupt issues in the US Congress. During the 90's Congress was willing to cut almost anything, provided it wasn't built or stationed in some member's district. That includes researching things like engines, weapon systems so on. So what does that leave you? Readiness, training, & supply. The services themselves are adamant about supply (no use building a tank if you can't supply gas for it) so, unsurprisinglllly, training & readiness get the ax. This led to a whole lot of bizzare and convuluted military doctrines throughout the 90's that were just being sorted out by the time 9/11 happened. Simply the amount of money spent on defense means nothing, what's more important is where that money goes.

......Again I ask, why does any money go to protecting Sweden again?

Seriously, shut the fuck up with this petty flaming shit. It's dominating these threads with pointless shit. We get the point, you don't like him. If you're going to just flame him over every little thing, go to NHB. If you want to actually discuss real topics, stay here.

Yeah if you want to continue this go here.
