Rock vetoes Wrestlemania match with Cena

Recommended Posts

Guest Anglesault

Did it take a decent feud over, you know, somethingn (as opposed to the feuds over nothing most people get) and resort to comedy?

Yes?

Well, then it sucked ass.

Damn, the promos leading up to the match would have GOLD.

Nope.

There'd be at least one rap off, which immediately sets the feud at rock bottom (pun intended)

They'd have to really work hard to un do that.

Hopefully they would save the battle rap (or song for Rock) till like RIGHT before the match.

And your right, if they did do the rap off, it could damn near kill the feud right there. Because someone there would have to be humilated. Which neither the Rock nor Cena is used to in promos.

dude, rocky's been humiliated by hurricane in promos before.

whatever his reason for the veto (if he even did it), this was the right move to make. something like that is a HUGE rub, and the fed wouldn't want to blow their wad on something like this too early. cena just isn't ready for it. looks like they're looking to eventually making cena into a full-time main event draw, and if the timing is wrong the whole thing could just sputter out and not leave the company any better off than it was before.

the scenario should definitely happen someday, but not so soon.

Whether or not this is true, I think the Rock jobs too newcomers too much to give them the rub.

Think of how over Cena could be if he pinned someone like the Undertaker in three straight PPVS, a la HHH/Foley.

"Why wouldn't The Rock want to give Cena the rub?"

Rock jobs/gives rub to Jericho (3x) ---> Jericho being Triple H's bitch and jobbed outin early 2002 (while he was the UNIFIED CHAMPION)

HHH overshadowed Austin in 2001, after he sent Rock away for the summer.

HHH overshadowed Jericho in 2002, after his long program with Rock culminated with a win at the Rumble.

HHH overshadowed Goldberg in 2003, after he sent Rock away for the summer.

Which is why I think The Rock prefers Hollywood over the WWE. In Hollywood, he makes twice the money and he doesn't really have to worry about politicking. In the WWE, he realizes that Vince/Triple H sometimes use Rock's stardom to feed Triple H any credible opponent that The Rock basically sets up. I think a Rock/Cena program would be great, but maybe for WM XXI, or Summerslam 2004.

I find it funny how this is all supposed to be HHH's fault. As soon as any insinuation of politics come up, we blame the bad guy. It's Chavo's fault that Eddie and Charlie argued, because Chavo's the less talented Guerrero. It's ALL Taker's fault Cena didn't beat him clean at Vengeance. And it's HHH's fault that Rock doesn't want to fued with Cena. Right...

Rock and Cena at WM would be awesome, as would Rock-HBK...that said, Rock will probably face that stupid fuck Orton, and have to put his sorry ass over.

We don't know id this shit is true. Personally I'm calling BS. I just hope we get Rock vs. someone he hasn't wrestled alot before. I mean I would love to see The Rock come in and beat the shit out of HHH, but I know that a) it wouldn't happen, and b) we have seen it all before. I would love to see Rock vs. Cena. I really can't think of a reason for Rock to veto it unless they wanted him to go heel and he didn't want to do that right before the post production marketing work for his new movie. Honestly the best way to do Rock vs. Cena is to go face vs face, because they are both going to get cheered like crazy no matter what.
