Robbie Brookside vs Chad Collyer.

 

Match Background: Brookside is making his debut at this show.

 

The Match: Second rope flying axe handle, Brookside goes down. One day, Collyer might even consider coming off the top with that. You know...for more impact and stuff. Collyer crushes Brookside with a huge legdrop. Covers for a quick two count. Collyer walks into a drop toe hold. Collyer walks into a high dropkick from Robbie Brookside, almost losing several teeth in the process. Hard back suplex on Collyer. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. There's a two count on the pin. Vicious kick to the teeth from Robbie Brookside. Pin, but Collyer is out just before the three count. Brookside uses a basement dropkick to the knee and it looks like it might be TIME TO GO TO SCHOOL~! Collyer counters a sleeper with a jaw breaker and is able to get free! SUPER frankensteiner on Brookside, who hit hard and is loopy as a result. Covers for a quick two count. Vicious kick to the teeth from Chad Collyer. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Second rope flying axe handle, Brookside goes down. One day, Collyer might even consider coming off the top with that. My Opinion: Oh, look out...almost ***, but not quite. **3/4. (57/38/91) (using the dark match to give 2 not-very-over guys a chance, especially Brookside)

 

Chris Hero vs B-Boy vs Jimmy Rave vs Jimmy Yang.

 

Match Background: This will be an elimination bout. Hero is making his debut at this show. B-Boy is making his debut at this show. He is a regular with CZW. Rave is making his debut at this show. Yang is making his debut at this show.

 

The Match: Flying elbow from B-Boy connects. B-Boy connects with a back heel kick on Yang and gets back up quickly. Covers for a quick two count. B-Boy tags out to Jimmy Rave. Flying elbow from Jimmy Rave connects. Yang walks into a face crusher variation. Has anyone's face ever really been crushed by one though? Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Tag to Chris Hero. Big dropkick by Chris Hero, who got a ton of air on the move. Tag to B-Boy. B-Boy connects with a back heel kick on Hero and gets back up quickly. Chris Hero fights out of a grapple. Northern Lights Bomb very nearly crushes the spine of B-Boy! ONE...TWO...THREE. Hero defeats B-Boy. Jimmy Yang hits a rolling kick on Hero. Konnan has ruined any chance for me ever enjoying this maneuver again with his shitty execution of it. Yang crushes Hero with a running senton. Hooks the leg for a two count. Hero takes a flying neckbreaker from Jimmy Yang. Tag to Jimmy Rave. Spin kick by Jimmy Rave to the face sends the opponent FLYING across the ring. Hard back suplex on Yang. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Yang blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! Hard back suplex on Rave. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. DDT from the top rope by Jimmy Yang. That looked KILLER! ONE...TWO...THREE. Yang defeats Rave. VICIOUS lightning kick by Yang on Hero. Diamond Dust from Jimmy Yang, Hero is out! Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Hero counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Jimmy Yang can barely stand. Hero's Welcome!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!!

 

My Opinion: It was close to a ** match, but I just can't stand too many blown spots. *3/4 (54/41/79) (Yang released by the WWE suits me fine :-D, match used to debut 4 X Division talents, especially Hero who is starting a feud with Michael Shane)

 

Erik Watts is backstage, and announces that tonight we will see Raven \ D'Lo and Vampiro \ Jarrett fight in a tag team match. (82)

 

Scotty Riggs vs Nick Dinsmore.

 

Match Background: Riggs is making his debut at this show. Dinsmore is making his debut at this show. Riggs and Dinsmore are currently feuding. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud.

 

The Match: Riggs hits a quick kick on Dinsmore. Forearm to the face from Riggs on Dinsmore. Flying elbow from Scotty Riggs, grazing the target slightly. Riggs hits a spinning back kick. All those spinning kicks look alike, don't they. Scotty Riggs misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Nick Dinsmore snap suplexes Riggs HARD to the canvas! And again! A pair of clotheslines follow and...yep, Dinsmore is a HOUSE...EN...FUEGO~! Back heel kick from Dinsmore on Riggs but it misses by miles. Covers for a quick two count. Scotty Riggs comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Badly executed second rope splash by Riggs. Hooks the leg for a two count. Slingshot clothesline by Riggs, who almost messed it up by slipping on the ropes. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Nick Dinsmore is able to duck a clothesline attempt and connect with a counter clothesline. Riggs is a glutton for punishment and just continues to take it during this match. Dinsmore charges into the corner but EATS BOOT. Nick Dinsmore takes a knee lift from Riggs. *sigh* Running knee lifts always remind me of the late Curt Hennig. Nick Dinsmore tries to get a big slam, but it is blocked when Riggs goes to the eyes! Scotty Riggs quickly scores with a field-goal kick between the legs! Nick Dinsmore collapses! The referee didn't see the illegal blow! 1...2...3! Nick Dinsmore got screwed! Scotty Riggs leaves the ring and heads off down the aisle at speed. Riggs has the victory, and isn't hanging around for Nick Dinsmore to look for revenge.

 

My Opinion: Not good enough to earn an entire star. 3/4* for you. (51/49/66) (Just to start the Riggs-Dinsmore feud that is going to push Riggs into the Main Event!!)

 

America's Most Wanted vs Messiah and Legend vs The Gathering vs York and Matthews.

 

Match Background: This will be an elimination bout. Messiah is making his debut at this show. York is making his debut at this show. Matthews is making his debut at this show. Legend and Messiah are teaming up as Messiah and Legend for the first time tonight. Punk and Dinero are teaming up as The Gathering for the first time tonight.

 

The Match: Rude Awakening neckbreaker on CM Punk by Wildcat. Remember when that was a legit finish? Spear by Chris Harris. Tag to Joey Matthews. Spin kick by Joey Matthews to the face sends the opponent FLYING across the ring. Matthews hits a HARD spinning kick to the jaw. Tag between Joey Matthews and Christian York. York just WAFFLES Punk with a STIFF chop that hurt ME to watch! Christian York hits a rolling kick on Punk. Konnan has ruined any chance for me ever enjoying this maneuver again with his shitty execution of it. CM Punk once again takes the advantage after blocking a few punches and connecting with some forearms. York takes a flying neckbreaker from CM Punk. Punk tags out to Julio Dinero. Vicious kick to the teeth from Julio Dinero. ONE...TWO...THREE. Dinero defeats York. Bodyslam by Legend. Death valley driver by Legend! No one executes that move properly anymore. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Tag to Messiah. Messiah and Legend whip Dinero into the ropes and hit a double clothesline. Dinero walks into a side slam. Think about how much talent it takes to side slam someone. Nash can do it. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Dinero ducks a wild right hand. Tag between Julio Dinero and James Storm. James Storm with a spinning neckbreaker on Messiah. James Storm scores with a standing spinebuster. Tag between James Storm and Chris Harris. America's Most Wanted whip Messiah into the corner. James Storm whips Chris Harris in for a hard clothesline to follow-up. The ref gets into position, administers the three count, and it's over. Chris Harris pins Messiah. Rude Awakening neckbreaker on CM Punk by Wildcat. Remember when that was a legit finish? Full nelson slam on Punk. Punk counters a sleeper with a jaw breaker and is able to get free! Punk hits a dropkick on Chris Harris and gets right back up. Wildcat takes a NICE hurrancarana from CM Punk. Covers for a quick two count. Punk tags out to Julio Dinero. Flying cross body off the top rope! Wildcat blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! Tag to James Storm. James Storm scores with a standing spinebuster. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Julio Dinero charges into the corner, but EATS BOOT and staggers backward. Julio Dinero is able to duck a clothesline attempt and connect with a counter clothesline. Dinero hits a HARD spinning kick to the jaw. CM Punk sets James Storm up in the corner. Pepsi Plunge, forget about it. 1....2...3!

 

My Opinion: Usually, this is designated for good matches that were usually way too short for some reason. What's your excuse? *3/4 (62/64/74) (Thought Legend and the Messiah would make a good team. Pushing Deniro and Punk as a team, mainly to feud with the winners of the tag title match)

 

Shane Douglas is backstage with Michael Shane. Shane Douglas was verbally abusing Chris Hero on behalf of Michael Shane. There's no better way to build up a fighter than to promote him as someone who needs a manager to do their fighting talk. That's almost as bad as having a friend ask a girl out for you. Not that I've ever done that. No, really, I haven't. Just concentrate on your booking, ok! (72)

 

Swinger and Diamond vs Getting Rowdy.

 

Match Background: This match is for the NWA Tag Team titles.

 

The Match: Swinger takes a right hand to the temple from James. Weak bodyslam by James. There's a two count on the pin. Tag between B.G. James and Ron Killings. Getting Rowdy hook up Swinger, then hit a double suplex. The Truth slams Swinger down and motions to the crowd. There's a two count on the pin. Swinger is a glutton for punishment and just continues to take it during this match. Swinger blocks a kick from Ron Killings. Tiger suplex on The Truth. No Misawa references from me, I swear. Oh, Bloody Hell! Swinger tags out to Simon Diamond. Big dropkick by Simon Diamond, who got a ton of air on the move. Reverse DDT on The Truth. Ron Killings fights out of a grapple. Tag between Ron Killings and B.G. James. B.G. James hits a sloppy double axe handle off the top. B.G. James turns Diamond inside-out with a clothesline. Reminds me of Willow's 'Bored Now' skin ripping finisher. Inside joke, don't worry about it. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. B.G. James hits a right hand on Simon Diamond and follows it up with a couple more. B.G. James misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Vicious back suplex! B.G. James got nailed big time! Swinger and Diamond have B.G. James to themselves. Problem Solver! 1....2....3! It's over. Swinger and Diamond remain in the ring, celebrating their victory.

 

My Opinion: I'll give it a *1\2 rating. Consider getting more stars to be the adventure of a lifetime. Get started. (60/63/71) (And the next day Simon and Swinger began a feud with the Gathering and B.G. James was unemployed….)

 

AJ Styles vs Low Ki.

 

Match Background: None.

 

The Match: AJ Styles kicks the leg, knocks Low Ki down, and goes to work on it. AJ Styles connects with a back heel kick on Low Ki and gets back up quickly. Spin kick by AJ Styles to the face sends the opponent FLYING across the ring. Styles hits a dropkick on Low Ki and gets right back up. Low Ki reverses a AJ Styles hammerlock. Low Ki drives a thrust kick into the chest of Styles. Spinebuster by Low Ki. Hooks the leg for a two count. Styles counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Spinning bulldog in the corner and Low Ki is down! Hooks the leg for a two count. Tiger suplex on Low Ki. No Misawa references from me, I swear. Oh, Bloody Hell! Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Styles walks into a drop toe hold. Low Ki scoops and slams AJ Styles. What's the difference between a scoop slam and a body slam anyway? Low Ki misses a clothesline. Flying elbow from AJ Styles connects. Low Ki can barely stand. Here it comes - Styles Clash. 1....2...3, it's finished.

 

My Opinion: This was such a good match, it caused star ratings to magically appear... ****1\4 (76/75/96) (I’ve got AJ signed to a written contract, Low Ki, being committed to Japan, is not. Thus I’m using AJ more to save on appearance fees, necessitating the Styles win, which also keeps AJ in the main event scene)

 

Raven and D'Lo Brown vs Jeff Jarrett and Vampiro.

 

Match Background: Vampiro and Jarrett are currently feuding. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud. Jeff Jarrett is the reigning NWA World champion.

 

The Match: Rude Awakening neckbreaker on D'Lo Brown by Vampiro. Remember when that was a legit finish? Massive backbreaker on D'Lo and I get happy flashbacks to Bret Hart's Five Moves of DOOM. Covers for a quick two count. Tag between Vampiro and Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett \ Vampiro hook up D'Lo, then hit a double suplex. Running knee lift from Jeff Jarrett. There's a two count on the pin. D'Lo takes a headbutt from Jeff Jarrett. D'Lo Brown powers out of a Jeff Jarrett headlock. Spear! Jarrett is down! Tag between D'Lo Brown and Raven. Flying shoulder tackle by Raven sends Jarrett CRASHING to the mat. Jarrett walks into a side slam. Think about how much talent it takes to side slam someone. Nash can do it. Raven goes for a splash but Jarrett puts the knees up. Tag to Vampiro. Spear by Vampiro. Vampiro scores with a big spinebuster. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Raven takes a headbutt from Vampiro. Raven reverses a Vampiro hammerlock. Nice piledriver on Vampiro. Vampiro climbs to the top rope, ready to leap at Raven. Jeff Jarrett bounces off the ropes for an elbow drop without seeing his partner, and crotches Vampiro by accident. Raven moves in for the kill. Raven Effect DDT!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!! Vampiro looks angry. Jeff Jarrett seems to have injured his knee, and is holding onto the ropes for support. Vampiro walks over, then brutally kicks the leg of Jarrett out from under...er...his leg. Looks like this partnership is over!

 

My Opinion: Smack dab in the middle of the star spectrum for an average match. **1\2. (71/80/77)

(Damn, not happy that an inside source appears to have told the Dames before this match that Jarrett and Vamp are going to feud. I blame the Sandman…he’s fired)

Not a bad start. Still got some new stars to debut next week (Spanky, Trent Acid, Masato Tanaka, Satoshi Kojima) so hopefully I can build from here…

 

BUT THEN…..CRISIS STRIKES!!!

Yep, Jeff Jarrett has suffered an eye injury, meaning that the World title needs to be stripped and his feud with Vampiro needs to be ended off camera. This allows me to introduce the TNA World Title Tournament. The first round matches are:

Hooks the leg for a two count. Slash scores with a standing spinebuster. Pin, but Spanky is out just before the three count. Flying shoulder tackle by Slash sends Spanky CRASHING to the mat. Slash hits some punches. How generic. Spanky avoids a Slash avalanche by getting out of the damn way! Spanky hits a rolling kick on Slash. Konnan has ruined any chance for me ever enjoying this maneuver again with his shitty execution of it. Tor-NADO DDT from Spanky, Slash got planted! Spanky moves in for the kill. Here it comes - The Big Spank. 1....2...3, it's finished.

 

My Opinion: Hmm. Only gets * from me. (62/56/69) (Aw monkeynuts, thought these two would work well together. Obviously not. Lucky it was only the dark match)

Scotty Riggs vs Nick Dinsmore.

 

Match Background: Riggs and Dinsmore have been feuding recently. Dinsmore has yet to get an in-ring victory in this feud.

 

The Match: Dinsmore takes a chop from Riggs. Scotty Riggs strikes Dinsmore. Scotty Riggs arm drags Dinsmore over and locks on an armbar. Dinsmore takes a hard, stinging chop from Riggs. One word: Ow. Nick Dinsmore once again takes the advantage after blocking a few punches and connecting with some forearms. Stun Gun from Nick Dinsmore! I still can't believe that was Austin's finisher at one point. Reverse DDT on Riggs. Hooks the leg for a two count. Riggs blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! Back heel kick from Riggs on Dinsmore. There's a two count on the pin. Scotty Riggs with an enziguri! HBK isn't moving...uh oh. Oh, sorry, I had a flashback to the last time I got fooled. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Nick Dinsmore comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Big forearm by Nick Dinsmore makes me want to go to the mirror and check MY teeth. Scotty Riggs fights out of a grapple. Riggs hits an arm drag on Dinsmore, follows it up with about 3 more and locks in an armbar for good measure. The two competitors end up in the corner, grappling. The referee tries to break them up, but Riggs pushes him away. The ref tries again, and this time Dinsmore is the one to shove the referee away...and that prompts a double DQ decision from the referee! The fight has started up again! Scotty Riggs attacks Dinsmore, and they brawl all around ringside, then into the crowd! They eventually disappear backstage, still fighting.

 

My Opinion: Hmm. Only gets * from me. (61/52/70) (Used a non-finish because I didn’t want to job out either man in this match. Besides, giving a bye puts more heat on the heel lucky enough to get to the second round)

 

The New Franchise have come to the ring, led by Shane Douglas. He takes the microphone and announces that there is a new member of the group, and introduces Steve Bradley, who comes down the aisle. He climbs in and joins his new partners, cementing the new alliance. (65) (Needed a decent brawler for the New Franchise stable, plus putting Bradley in the stable means that the booking for the next match makes sense)

 

Chris Hero vs Steve Bradley.

 

Match Background: Bradley is making his debut at this show. Hero has been feuding with Michael Shane recently, who is a stable mate of Bradley in The New Franchise.

 

The Match: Steve Bradley connects with rights and lefts and Chris Hero is down! Chris Hero comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Back suplex on Bradley. Hero whips Bradley into the turnbuckles...and the ref is crushed! Belly to belly off the top rope! Pinfall attempt, but the ref is out and can't count to three! Hero charges into the corner but EATS BOOT. Flying shoulder tackle by Bradley sends Hero CRASHING to the mat. Massive backbreaker on Hero and I get happy flashbacks to Bret Hart's Five Moves of DOOM. There's a two count on the pin. Brutal sit out powerbomb on Hero! Pin, but Hero is out just before the three count. Hero reverses a Steve Bradley hammerlock. BRAINBUSTAH~! by Chris Hero! Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Bradley blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! Michael Shane comes running down the aisle and onto the apron! Hero turns...and is dropped throat-first onto the top rope by Shane! Michael Shane has left Hero in big trouble. Chris Hero is in trouble. Here it comes - Roll The Dice. 1....2...3, it's finished. Michael Shane has a chair. Chris Hero stands up...and gets floored by a shot to the head. Another two shots smack down across his back, leaving him unmoving on the canvas. Shane sets the chair up, then picks up Chris Hero. He gets whipped into the ropes...and then drop toe holded, sending him face first into the chair! Michael Shane has left Hero down and bloodied in the ring after a brutal assault!

 

My Opinion: I'll give it a *3/4 rating. If you think of it like currency, it's a 1.75. You can't even take the subway with that anymore here. Work harder man. (63/50/77) (Served it’s purpose- gives Bradley a win on his debut, keeps the Hero/Shane feud alive and gives Bradley a bye to the semi finals)

 

Trent Acid and Robbie Brookside vs Chris Sabin and Cory Kastle.

 

Match Background: Acid is making his debut at this show. Kastle is making his debut at this show. Sabin and Acid are currently feuding. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud.

 

The Match: Implant DDT by Chris Sabin! I will always and forever mark out for that move. Flying reverse elbow by Chris Sabin. Covers for a quick two count. Tag between Chris Sabin and Cory Kastle. Kastle \ Sabin hook up Brookside, then hit a double suplex. Kastle hits a dropkick on Robbie Brookside and gets right back up. There's a two count on the pin. STIFF high kick on Brookside by Cory Kastle. Robbie Brookside fights out of a grapple. Tiger suplex on Kastle. No Misawa references from me, I swear. Oh, dammit. Tag between Robbie Brookside and Trent Acid. THERE IT IS! A legdrop to the BACK OF THE HEAD! I swear, that makes any match just a little bit better. I don't mind telling you that every time I see it, that's for sure. Acid crushes Kastle with a running senton. Cory Kastle is able to duck a clothesline attempt and connect with a counter clothesline. Tag to Chris Sabin. Sabin crushes Acid with a huge legdrop. Tiger suplex on Acid. No Misawa references from me, I swear. Oh, Bloody Hell! Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Chris Sabin connects with a back heel kick on Acid and gets back up quickly. Acid counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Sabin takes a NICE hurrancarana from Trent Acid. Trent Acid gets a roll-up...and grabs a handful of tights as well! The referee doesn't see it: 1....2...3!! Acid \ Brookside rush forward to attack! Sabin \ Kastle get caught by surprise and brutally beaten down to the canvas.

 

My Opinion: *1\2 rating is all it gets from me. (60/45/76) (Kicks off the Acid/Sabin feud, keeps Brookside in use because I’ve got plans for him and Kastle is a decent enough worker for this match)

 

Christopher Daniels vs Raven.

 

Match Background: None.

 

The Match: Raven slams Christopher Daniels. Raven slams Christopher Daniels. Flying shoulder tackle by Raven sends Daniels CRASHING to the mat. Raven slams Christopher Daniels down and motions to the crowd. Daniels blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! Raven takes a flying neckbreaker from Christopher Daniels. Lightning kick by Daniels on Raven. Hooks the leg for a two count. Christopher Daniels misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Spinebuster by Raven. There's a two count on the pin. Massive lariat! Stan Hansen would approve. Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Daniels reverses a waistlock. Standing leg lariat by Christopher Daniels on Raven. Daniels drops an elbow...but Raven moves out of the way. BAAACK Body drop by Daniels gets a bit of a pop from the crowd. Christopher Daniels can barely stand. Raven Effect DDT! 1....2....3.

 

My Opinion: I'll give it a **1\2 rating, but that's because I didn't mark out once...but nothing was too bad. (77/77/78) (Just wanted a clean win to give Raven a bit more credibility and Daniels would make it a decent match)

 

The Gathering are backstage. They was building up the feud with Swinger and Diamond. I respect you, Booker Man. (67)

 

Satoshi Kojima vs AJ Styles.

 

Match Background: Kojima is making his debut at this show.

 

The Match: Satoshi Kojima connects with rights and lefts and AJ Styles is down! AJ Styles powers out of a Satoshi Kojima headlock. AJ Styles kicks the leg, knocks Kojima down, and goes to work on it. My Opinion: A badly blown spot prevents me from giving out more snowflakes. ***3/4 (83/73/93) (I want to push Kojima as a big heel, so a victory over AJ will give him instant credibility, but by making it a cheap victory, it doesn’t make AJ look stupid either)

I think it's because TNA should be so easy to book. They have so much good talent, plus so much available talent on the indy scene that we all think it'd be easy to do a better job than Mantell is (and we're probably right). I actually hadn't done a TNA campaign for ages, but reading yours inspired me to go back to the asylum, so to speak.

Nick Dinsmore vs Flash Barker.

 

Match Background: Barker is making his debut at this show.

 

The Match: STIFF~! chop lights up Dinsmore who covers up to try and stop the agonizing PAIN! Dinsmore flips out of a Flash Barker bodyslam attempt. Badly executed second rope splash by Dinsmore. Nick Dinsmore plants Barker with an EXPLODAH~! suplex. Nick Dinsmore moves in for the kill. Here it comes - German Suplex. 1....2...3, it's finished.

 

My Opinion: Hmm. Only gets * from me. (52/30/75) (need to give Dinsmore a clean victory and Barker just happened to be the first “new signing” I saw)Steve Bradley and Shane Douglas vs Killings and Konnan.

 

Match Background: Killings and Konnan used to be a regular team, but have been inactive for a while. Whether this match will lead to a reformation as an active unit remains to be seen.

 

The Match: Bradley hits a right hand. Flying shoulder tackle by Bradley sends Konnan CRASHING to the mat. There's a two count on the pin. Tag between Steve Bradley and Shane Douglas. Bradley \ Douglas whip Konnan into the ropes and hit a double back elbow. Covers for a quick two count. Shane Douglas strikes Konnan with a hard blow. Konnan ducks a wild right hand. Konnan hits an ugly looking bulldog off the ropes. There's a two count on the pin. Konnan tags out to Ron Killings. The Truth hits a piledriver on Shane Douglas. That used to end matches, you know. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! BAAACK Body drop by Douglas gets a bit of a pop from the crowd. Douglas blocks a punch. Running clothesline from Shane Douglas was actually MIGHTY sloppy. Tag to Steve Bradley. Bradley scoops and slams Ron Killings. What's the difference between a scoop slam and a body slam anyway? Tag between Ron Killings and Konnan. Steve Bradley with a spinning neckbreaker on Konnan. Traci Brooks is at ringside! Konnan wastes valuable time by yelling at Tracy! Steve Bradley takes advantage of the distraction and nails Konnan from behind! Konnan can barely stand. Roll The Dice! 1....2....3.

 

My Opinion: When I give out 3/4*, it means that I'm being REALLY nice about it. (67/70/61) (Needed to give Bradley a victory against a big name and I don’t really care about upsetting Konnan)

 

Messiah and Legend vs America's Most Wanted.

 

Match Background: None.

 

The Match: Fallaway slam by James Storm puts down Legend. James Storm hits a bulldog off the ropes. There's a two count on the pin. Tag between James Storm and Chris Harris. America's Most Wanted hook up Legend, then hit a double suplex. Rude Awakening neckbreaker on Legend by Wildcat. Remember when that was a legit finish? There's a two count on the pin. Chris Harris connects with rights and lefts and Legend is down! Legend flips out of a Chris Harris bodyslam attempt. Brutal sit out powerbomb on Wildcat! Tag to Messiah. Messiah with a spinning neckbreaker on Wildcat. Massive backbreaker on Wildcat and I get happy flashbacks to Bret Hart's Five Moves of DOOM. Messiah walks into a drop toe hold. Wildcat tags out to James Storm. Full nelson slam on Messiah. Death valley driver by James Storm! No one executes that move properly anymore. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! James Storm connects with rights and lefts and Messiah is down! Messiah pushes out of a James Storm hold. Nice piledriver on Storm. Victoria comes running down the aisle with a chair! Messiah whips James Storm into the ropes. Victoria jumps onto the apron with the chair! Collision between Victoria, Storm, and the chair! James Storm staggers back into a roll up! 1...2...3! It's over! America's Most Wanted are beaten down three-on-two by the combined forces of Legend, Messiah and Victoria.

 

My Opinion: A wise man once said 'Can I get a side of bland with that bland'. He's dead now, though. That's what this match was...bland. ** (72/69/75) (Lets me debut Victoria and gives the Messiah/ Legend team a victory over a good team)

 

Michael Shane vs Chris Sabin vs Chris Hero.

 

Match Background: This will be a triangle bout. Shane and Hero have been feuding recently. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud. This match is for the NWA X title.

 

The Match: Spinning back kick from Chris Sabin. Dropkick connects to the BUTT of the jaw and Hero goes down. Shane counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Michael Shane hits a rolling kick on Sabin. Konnan has ruined any chance for me ever enjoying this maneuver again with his shitty execution of it. Shane takes a NICE hurrancarana from Chris Hero. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Hero takes a flying neckbreaker from Chris Sabin. Hero counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Shane \ Hero hook up Sabin, then hit a double suplex. Power drive elbow by Michael Shane. That sounds like a feature on a 4 x 4, doesn't it. Shane takes a back suplex. Chris Hero misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Hard back suplex on Sabin. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Trent Acid comes running down the aisle with a chair! Shane whips Chris Sabin into the ropes. Acid jumps onto the apron with the chair! Collision between Acid, Sabin, and the chair! Chris Sabin staggers back into a roll up! 1...2...3! It's over!

 

My Opinion: **1/4 rating for this one. Scott Keith may say that it's 'Perfectly Acceptable Wrestling', but not for me, buddy. Got to work harder to impress me. (67/53/81) (Lets me continue two feuds. Acid cost Sabin the X title and Hero didn’t take the pinfall, giving him more reason to go after Shane)

 

Vampiro vs Rene Dupree.

 

Match Background: Dupree is making his debut at this show.

My Opinion: Nothing special...nothing special at all. *1/4 (66/64/68) (Well I needed a big name for the tournament, and Dupree isn’t THAT bad)

D'Lo Brown vs Sonny Siaki.

High Angle DDT by Sonny Siaki just SPIKES D'Lo Brown down! Ekmo comes running down the aisle and into the ring! D'Lo Brown turns around. Ekmo slams D'Lo down. Ekmo climbs to the top rope and hits the Flying Splash! Ekmo leaves the ring, the damage done! The ref gets into position, administers the three count, and it's over. Sonny Siaki pins D'Lo. D'Lo Brown goes on the rampage, firing off stiff shots to both Sonny Siaki and Ekmo, who take the hint and swiftly leave the ring for their own safety.

 

My Opinion: It was close to a ** match, but I just can't stand too many blown spots. *3/4 (71/70/72) (Siaki was the only credible heel I had at this point for the tournament, or else I risked losing the Tanaka/ Low Ki match I wanted. That’s why D’Lo had to fight off both men at the end, so he’d still look strong)

 

Low Ki vs Masato Tanaka.

 

Match Background: Tanaka is making his debut at this show. He also works for MLW and FLI. Low Ki knows Tanaka well from Zero-One in Japan.

 

The Match: Flying elbow from Low Ki connects. Doctor Bomb connects and Tanaka landed hard. There's a two count on the pin. Tanaka reverses a waistlock. Tanaka hits a right hand. Bodyslam by Tanaka. There's a two count on the pin. Powerbomb on Low Ki. Pin, but Low Ki is out just before the three count. Tanaka slams Low Ki down and motions to the crowd. Masato Tanaka gets taken down out of nowhere! Nice piledriver on Tanaka. Covers for a quick two count. Massive lariat! Stan Hansen would approve. Pin, but Tanaka is out just before the three count. Hard back suplex on Tanaka. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Tanaka gets caught with a belly to belly suplex from Low Ki! Tanaka backdrops Low Ki out of a piledriver attempt. That took a lot out of Masato Tanaka. Running knee lift from Masato Tanaka. Brutal sit out powerbomb on Low Ki! Low Ki is in trouble. Roaring Elbow! 1....2....3.

 

My Opinion: All it gets is a ***1\2 rating from me. Deal with it. (80/73/88) (I just wanted to put 2 of the stiffest wrestlers in the same match together)
