Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 I wasn't going to write anything in my commenary about it, but then I saw this picture and it changed my mind. http://jimmyjacobs.hypermart.net/cod2.jpg I'm nobody. I've worked hard at this business, though. I've been doin this for almost 5 years now. That's 5 solid years with 300 some matches. I dont ask for much but I ask for the respect I deserve, the respect I'd give to any other worker. I've said stupid stuff. I've done stupid stuff. Never have I ever thought it ok to grab the ass of a girl I was working with. Never. I mean at what point do you think it's acceptable to just squeeze a girl's BUTT just because you're working in a match with her? Well ask Sabian. No, not Chris Sabin. Just Sabian. Now, I'm an easy going guy and I dont normally complain about this kinda stuff on my commentary, but this stupid son of a bitch is totally on my shit list, which is kind of a hard thing to do. For a dude that claims to have been working for 3 years, this kid is clueless (get gear, please. I know once you order it, it doesnt take 3 years to receive it). For some reason, he thought it be a good idea to blatently grab Becky Bayless's ass while her and I were getting into the ring at the last CZW show. Un-fucking-believable. A) You're a baby face, man. Learn psychology. B) Our enterance is our time to get our gimmick over, heat-stealing goof. C) Most importantly, he didn't ask her if he could grab her ass. Like I said, I'm nobody, but if he did that shit with Dawn and Simon or Chris and Tammy or Punk and Lucy, this kid wouldn't be standing today, period. I'm nice so I only decide to slap some respect into him and tell him to show Becky some respect. To which he responds by slapping me back. For a 3rd time, I'm nobody, but when working with somebody who has been wrestling longer and has done more than you, you show them respect. If, oh let's say (for comparison purposes only), Chris Daniels slapped me because I did something retarded, I would say "I'm sorry sir. Thank you." Because that's what you do in this business. You respect the people that came before you. Sabian is clueless to this business because he's not in the business. He's in CZW. He wrestles for CZW once a month and has probably had 10 matches YET he chooses to disrespect my manager and me. So to you Sabian, I raise my middle finger. Then he follows up: Now that I've slightly calmed down from Saturday, let me explain a couple things. First off, I did talk to Sabian in the locker room and explained to him exactly what he did that was wrong. He seemed slightly receptive and even apologized to Becky with out my even asking him to, which is the only redeeming aspect of this situation. When you have a 12 hours drive home, you tend to stew on things, which is what happened with me and why I was so mad. What he did was way outta line, something that is clearly wrong. It did hit me more personally due to the fact that Becky and I are close friends. And like I said before, I dont like to deal with these sort of issues online, but I was pretty pissed, and rightfully so. This is just a display of people being ignorant to the business. Maybe this kid will wanna learn in the future, but my experience with him was certainly unfavorable due to the incident with Becky and other things that I wont go into on this website. Funny thing is when I was talking to Zandig about it, he tells me, "Well, he got a pop last time he did it." He did it before and nobody said anything to him, which just shocks me. But eh... I've said my piece. All I can say is....NOBODY DISRESPECTS BECKY BAYLESS! THINE SHALT PERISH!

C) Most importantly, he didn't ask her if he could grab her ass. What a crybaby. In my less than two years as a ring announcer, I've been punched, kicked, stomped, choked, hit with chairs, hit with stop signs, hit with title belts, hit with garbage cans, STO'd, clotheslined, leg-dropped, eye-gouged, and had a golf club rammed into my groin. Hell, Chase Stevens makes it a point to either slap me in the face or whack me in the nuts (or both) before his match EVERY WEEK. And do you know how many times I was asked ahead of time if they could do it? TWICE. Ever. The rest of it was done completely on the fly. (And I don't get treated half as bad as the women do, who can almost count on getting degraded somehow every night.) If Jimmy Jacobs and Becky Bayless worked down here in the South, they'd have a fucking heart attack every week. This is wrestling, guys, not a sexual harassment seminar or Sylvia Plath poetry reading.
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted December 18, 2003 From what I've gathered reading commentary's from Allison Danger and Alex Shelley, Jacobs and Bayless are (or at least once were) more than just friends. So I can understand Jacobs being upset. It's not just disrespect to someone in the business, its disrespect to someone's girlfriend. Outside a wrestling ring, stuff like that usually results in more than a talking to. And INSIDE a wrestling ring- well, Jacobs is right on his other points. It goes against logical psychology, and you're stealing someone elses heat.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 I'm sorry, but if you're a girl and you get into wrestling, you can expect to have your BUTT grabbed, slapped, and pinched, as well as your boobs and pretty much any other part of you. It happens, constantly, even back in the locker room, even right in front of the girl's boyfriend. If this is the first time that Becky Bayless has ever experienced it, then quite frankly I'm amazed. Guest bort Report post Posted December 18, 2003 In a Group where things are run right i would think that females are treated better than jingus discribed, I think Jimmy has a right to be upset even if it isnt his girl.I think Sabian just saw her as a hot chick who he could grab and use that he was trying to get a pop as an excuse

So just because it has been done means that it is right and shouldn't be complained about? How does that logic make any sense? It is so unbelievably carny and just outright stupid how so many wrestling fans and people inside the wrestling business have this idea that that wrestling exist outside of any other social norms. Like how most most every other type of performance can be classified as "good", "bad", or "okay" objectively, but wrestling matches can't. Or how people can say that a baseball player or a musician is bad without ever having picked up a bat or sung a song, but people can't judge a wrestler until they've wrestled themselves. This is the same thing. If someone did something like that to your girlfriend or close friend (whatever their actual relationship might be) you would get mad and rightfully so. But just because that girl is involved in wrestling, it means she gives away her rights to be respected and her friend gives away his rights to defend her? Makes no sense... Kardo 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Hmmmm, I was a photographer by the ring for 2 years and I was whipped into a pole, dropkicked etc... but the wrestlers always went over the spots with me before hand.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 (edited) "Fox Night at the Movies": "Sabian:Portrait of an Ass-Grabber" Anyway, I think Sabian made a mistake here and should have cleared it first. I don't think Sabian meant everything by it but Jacobs has every right to be pissed at him. If anyone else who in his shoes they would feel the same way. But of course this is between him and Sabian and I hope they can clear things between each other. Edited December 18, 2003 by PsychoDriver
Jingus 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Hey guys, to specify: I'm not saying that's the way it should be, or that it's the way I wish it were. It's not. I'm a male feminist at heart, and hate the way things happen in the business. But the fact of the matter is that these things do happen, constantly, and you either have to get used to it, or get out. (Or develop a reputation as a psycho asskicker who'll break a guy's nose if they touch her inappropriately. That works too.)
Guest Douche Report post Posted December 18, 2003 And who says you have to tolerate it? If it's alright to harass a girl then it should be alright to stiff him in the ring or jump him outside the ring with a couple of guys. That Sabian guy already sounds like a piece of low life scum if he's sexually harassing females and wrestles in CZW to pay his bills. Jacobs is SO f'n correct when he says that he'd get more than a verbal warning if it was Candido, Diamond, or Punk.

Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 18, 2003 I'll be honest, he has every right to be pissed, or at least Bayless does. I know some people don't think it is a big deal, but if someone does something like that without saying something beforehand is totally UNPROFESSIONAL. It's the same is if someone started shooting in the ring if it isn't planned. UNPROFESSIONAL.

In fact, Jacobs SHOULD have hit him, whether it was a work or a shoot. I'm just saying that Jacobs and Bayless shouldn't be surprised when this kind of thing happens, because in certain parts of the country, it's pretty damn common. I don't know if they've never been outside of CZW or have been overprotected or what, but wrestling is a dirty, dirty business. Don't expect to be in it and come out clean. Uhhh, Jacobs pretty much got his name wrestling in IWA-MS, so we's worked the South many times. He's also one of the hottest indy stars going and has been wrestling all over the country (and soon outside of it), so it's not like he's some "CZW guy without a clue of the business". There's just no excuse for Sabian's actions, and/or your acceptance of it like it's just something Jacobs should deal with and move on. A couple no name wrestlers in the south may treat woman like shit, that doesn't make it alright, or normal.

Can someone, anyone, explain why all you people seem to think that I have stated that this was not a wrong thing, or that Sabian shouldn't have been punished? Read my lips: 1. It is VERY common for females to be sexually harassed in a physical manner in the wrestling business. I'm amazed that this is the first time it's ever happened to Bayless or Jacobs. 2. Being common doesn't make it morally right or acceptable. 3. Instead of biding his time and then whining about it on a message board, Jacobs should've gotten out of the ring and shoot punched Sabian in the mouth. What's Sabian gonna do, sue him? It's a wrestling show. In the ringside area, one employee of the show can do almost anything to another employee, and get away with it. And punching him in the mouth would be a HELL of a lot more effective in stopping Sabian's behaviour than writing an internet post about it.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 22, 2003 heat-stealing goof Hilarious Jacobs comes off as a very intelligent and respectful guy. He seems to have a respect for the business. I met him recently at an IWC show in pittsburgh. He was a really cool guy. He didn't come off as the tipical "I wrestle, I am a hardass" attitude. He seems pretty knowledgable about the business and was a genuinely nice dude. Nothing but respect for Jacobs coming from me. He even took time to speak with me and a friend of mine, which I thought was pretty cool.

I can see why you're not on Jacobs level in this business with the mindstate you have. Jacobs managed to still put on a quality match with Sabian, despite being obviously pissed at him. He then spoke to him backstage about it, and let off some steam on his live journal. In the end, he handled it correctly, and months down the line when he continues to elevate in this business, and Sabian's still working dark matches in CZW (and only CZW), it will just probe that.
