With the brand-specific PPV's now, a wrestler will typically have the chance for 8 PPV's a year, barring roster trades or changes of formats. You wouldn't count the Rumble to be 29 matches, so every time someone is eliminated, it is not a match. You can survive to the end, or be eliminated and replaced by another team. Barring human error, what ALWAYS defines a wrestling match? Answer: The ringing of the bell to start and end it. When the first two teams of Tag Team Turmoil are about to lock up, the bell rings. When one team loses, the bell rings (ending the match) and the ring announcer declares the winner of the match. When team #3 enters the ring, the bell is rung again (to start a new match). The length of the match is irrelevant; be it Bundy-SD Jones (WM1), Mero-Sable (OTE98), Bossman-Rock (SS98)...because the bell was rung to start and end it, the length of the match has no bearing on whether or not it is a 'real' match. Otherwise, you're arbitrarily lumping matches together because they were 'too short.' Oh, and your Rumble argument doesn't hold water because a) the bell only rings at the beginning and end, not after each elimination; and b) most importantly, Howard Finkel has stated in his Rumble introductions that "[it] is now time for the Royal Rumble MATCH ." Dandy 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Hollywood Fashion Plate, I agree with what you say about the bell ringing ending and starting the matches, so you changed my opinion on Tag-Team Turmoil. It is still my opinion that they should treat it as one match, but they don't, as you pointed out. And I wasn't trying to state that Rumble should be considered 29 individual matches, I was just using that as an analogy of how the TTT was broken down. He holds a main event slot, and will probably not give that up in the near future, barring severe injury or some other happening.
