Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2003 I've seen Withnail & I several times. I think I'd get by alright in England.

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2003 Also, never say "dashed funny" if you come to britain. You'll get your head kicked in. But Eddie Izzard gets to say, "dashed cunning!"
teke184 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2003 Jay, A good idea for an article down the road would be Limey Slang For The Colonials or so forth. Because of a few movies like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and The Limey, I know some of the Cockney rhyming slang such as "I'll take a butcher's" meaning "I'll take a look around" because "butcher's hook = look", and so forth. If there was some kind of listing of these, it would sure help us poor deprived Americans.
k thx 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2003 It's okay to yell "scrubbers" at schoolgirls, right? Depends. Most schoolgirls are jailbait for petty thugs and gangs, so if you yell out "scrubbers" at schoolgirls, you're likely to get some likely lads after you. And Eddie Izzard: 1) wouldn't say that in an average conversation 2) is a traany, and therefore very likely to get beaten anyway.

Sample comments: I'm a bit Peter Purvis about all of the Perry wankers about, but I better not rhubarb. The mountain bikes and the inspectors are just getting Friared at the pub. Translation: I'm a little nervous about all these gay wankers around, but I better not grumble. The lesbians and the gays are just getting fucked up at the bar. (This was put together just because of what the top 10 latest London Slang terms were, not to make fun of any particular groups.)
