Guest Disbadger Report post Posted January 11, 2004 http://www.gamesx.com/importmod/n64con.htm I used this method. It's alot safer than sawing off the sides of the cartridge.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I don't have a Gamebit. I'd prefer to go the converter route.
Guest Disbadger Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Alternately, if you have a steady hand, prop open the cartridge doors, stick your soldering iron in there, and carefully melt off the little tabs. The thick plastic easly melts away from the iron and you can shrink those little buggers to flush with the wall of the slot, and it looks great! Better than a hole, at least. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 I ended up getting the Gameshark--which version worked for you? I have a v. 2.1 and it isn't working. I'm worried if I saw off the ends of the cart that if the game doesn't work I'm stuck with it. Can't get a nice, simple question answered, can I? Do I need to get Gameshark Pro or a converter to get this working without messing up my cartridge or N64 or should it work with the v. 2.1 and I got a bad game cart? I tried cleaning it with cotton swabs and a dab of water on the swabs when it didn't work the first time. That shouldn't be a problem, right?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2004 I said "screw it" and took a knife to the cartridge. It works. Now, anyone know where I can find a guide to make the people who aren't from NJPW the way they should? It's obvious the non-licensed wrestlers have been altered, likely for legal reasons (I guess they tightened up laws since VPW64).

It's obvious the non-licensed wrestlers have been altered, likely for legal reasons (I guess they tightened up laws since VPW64). Hmmm, let me check when I get home. I may have some stuff saved on my computer that could help you. I changed all the guys to look like their real-life counterparts, so it's just a matter of if I saved the files. From GameFaqs: Wrestler list, hidden stuff (moves, clothing) Translation guide Hidden wrestlers Tells what all the faces, clothing, gear are You've probably already been to GameFaqs, but the above links are the ones I would say are the most helpful. I'll look around for the non-NJPW wrestler edits...
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2004 I'll look around for the non-NJPW wrestler edits... Okay, cool. Although--correction--I meant All Japan. Its the All Japan guys who are correct. I did find some guide about it, but it's not exactly complete. BTW, I would think Vader would be taller than that. Taka wasn't too hard to fix up, although others like Lyger require a good bit of editing. Also, apparently some stuff is locked up still. The previous owner unlocked some of the hiddens, though, including the Revenge and WM2000 moves.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2004 I've been searching via Google for wrestler edits (yeah, fun day at work), but so far no luck. I'll post something if I find it, otherwise I'll shoot you off a PM sometime tonight if I've got stuff saved on my computer.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2004 Great. Oh, have some more questions. I've heard about wrestlers having a second special from the front/back grapple--Vader's Jackhammer for instance (not to be confused with the stolen specials). How would I do this? Also, is there any way to make female CAWs in here? I'm a little disappointed that it appears you can't.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2004 Bad news - I don't have the files. 2nd special - get "specialed" up, then do another taunt (must let the taunt finish). Your power meter will now flash yellow (normally white/red when powered up). Then do a special move like normal. Couple things - you have less time when in the "2nd special" state than you would in the normal special state, and you can only get into the "2nd special" state once per match. Also, not everyone can do this. I'm not sure who can/can't do a 2nd special, so it's kind of trial & error to find out. Misawa can, and I'm pretty sure his 2nd is the Emerald Frosion (regular is the Tiger Driver). Female CAW's - never tried, so I don't know.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2004 Eh, it's cool. I got most of the important ones anyway. Thanks for the super special tip, though. Yeah, Misawa does the Frosion, Vader does the Jackhammer. A look at the move sets will usually tell ya if you know where to look. Misawa's regular special, BTW, is the Tiger Driver 91. The regular Tiger Driver is one of his strong grapples, but if you "steal" his special you get the Tiger Driver, not the TD91. Oh, I've been trying to fix up the looks, but a lot of the stuff is still hidden. I've seen methods to unlock the secret characters, but what about CAW parts? I unlocked Ultimo, but his top isn't available right now.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2004 Do 3 exhibition matches w/ Ultimo. The 1st link I posted tells you how to get all the hidden gear.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2004 Have you played against Misawa yet on the hardest level? I fired the game up a week or 2 ago, and did my CAW againt Misawa, and basically got squashed a few times before getting a win. He's harder than Goldberg in Revenge. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Have you played against Misawa yet on the hardest level? I fired the game up a week or 2 ago, and did my CAW againt Misawa, and basically got squashed a few times before getting a win. He's harder than Goldberg in Revenge. Nope, not yet. Currently playing on Normal. When I first played the game it was on the hardest difficulty, and Baba just massacred me. I had been out of practice. Although, even so, I avoid the hardest difficultly most of the time because of how counter-happy the CPU gets. Usually I got next-to-hardest once I'm "on." Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Yeah, Baba is a bitch, too. I put it on the mid-level difficulty when I was unlocking everything, then bumped it up to the hardest once everything was unlocked. I had a kick-ass tag match during one of my "seasons". CAW/Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Misawa/Ogawa. Back & forth, finishers were kicked out of, bunch of near-falls, before finally picking up the win in about 25+ minutes. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 It's a shame that it seems you play mostly against All Japan guys, because I'm getting a little bored wrestling Vader, Ace, and Hansen every week. Oh, by the way, how can I tell that I have all the moves unlocked? It seems that I'm a little short on moves and all the WM2000 and Revenge moves are supposed to be in, correct? Would the Angle Slam happen to be in?
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 I don't know about the Angle Slam (never looked for it). Certain moves are unlocked when hidden wrestlers are unlocked. Get all the guys, and you should have all the moves.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 13 Dark Hyabusa Win first blood match vs TAKA in exhibition. Must bust opponent open twice to win. (*Or use Taka to win a first blood match) This gear doesn't want to unlock. That's apparently not the way. I've tried it both ways (using Hayabusa as his opponent) and it's not working. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2004 I......don't know. Other than that, how's the game been? Living up to the hype?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 I......don't know. Other than that, how's the game been? Living up to the hype? While there are many games I have right now competing for my attention (Lament of Innocence, Marvel Super Heroes, Legend of Oasis), I still play it a good bit. However, the language barrier makes CAWs sometimes a bit frustrating. Also, some moves seem to be missing from previous games: like the top rope Splash Mountain/Outsider's Edge (not to be confused with the Flipping Slam, which is in). I've been tweaking a Taker that fights with strikes like Goldberg in Revenge.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Have you given Vader a spin yet? Put him on the apron, and strong grapple to the opponent (who is on the inside). Vader will pull him out to the apron, and then powerbomb (or maybe a chokeslam, I forget which - both are in the game) him to the floor. I don't remember the American games having those 2 moves. I think the turnbuckle powerbomb made it's debut in this game, too.
