Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I saw numbers 100-85 or so, then 65-50. Did anyone see the end of it, like the Top 10?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Yeah, I don't remember it though. Pretty much just a year in review, done in a list.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Gee, I wonder where the Rush Limbaugh comment was placed at?...
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 It made the list, along with Playmakers.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Good God. Did they also include SportsCenter getting burned by that phony Cubs fan call?...
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 30, 2003 You know they won't highlight their own misfortune....although it should have been on the list. I remember that the Rush Limbaugh thing was in the 60-50 range, which seemed a little low. And I like how they chopped up to footage to pretend like Tom Jackson had the upper hand in that argument. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Does this have to be things that happened on ESPN or can anything involved in sports be there?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Anything in sports, as far as I know.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 ALCS Game 7 must be Number one.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 #3. #1 was the Kobe Bryant indictment. #2 was LeBron James. Cubs/Marlins game 6 was #4.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Now this is annoying me. I don't like to be annoyed. How does one of the greatest baseball games ever played get overshaddowed by a guy who has yet to do anything on the professional level?
Mik 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 My favorite part was Jimmy Kimmel's interviews. Why? Because he had the "Sports Guy" Bill Simmons with him. Hearing him talk put him on his own unintentional comedy scale...so nervous.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Now this is annoying me. I don't like to be annoyed. How does one of the greatest baseball games ever played get overshaddowed by a guy who has yet to do anything on the professional level? Um, he's averaging 20 points and 6 assists and 6 rebounds per game as an 18-year-old rookie. He is also the single reason ESPN started airing high school basketball games, has pretty much saved a franchise (money-wise...they still suck), and is going to be Nike's go-to guy for the 21st century. I'd say that's doing something. And don't say, "He hasn't won any championships yet," because neither have the Red Sox or Cubs and you wanted them at No.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 And don't say, "He hasn't won any championships yet," because neither have the Red Sox or Cubs and you wanted them at No. 1 I assume you mean the Sox and the Yankees. And if I requested that the Sawx or Yanks be number one, you'd have a point. But I suggested that the best sports game of the year be number one.

For one, you can't say that one baseball game made more news than the summer-long Kobe situation. And two, people will be talking about LeBron longer than they'll talk about that game. Also, LeBron had a bigger financial impact on sports than the Yanks-Sox game.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 30, 2003 The agenda was Top 100 events of 2003 correct? Then I agree Kobe, James and then The Sox/Yankees is the correct order. Kobe is hands down the Sports Story of the year and LeBron was THE most talked about guy of the year after him and impacted more markets then anyone else (The NBA, ESPN. Nike, College Basketball, Cleveland Cavaliers, City of Cleveland, High School Basketball exposure to the Mainstream)....

I can see the number one sports story beating out the number one game. Just not number two, especially when it's a fucking draft pick.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I think the Italian Sausage getting hit by the baseball bat of Randall Simon should be in the top 10 (I didn't watch).
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I'm so burned out on Lebron James that whenever I see him on tv, I change the channel super quick and never look back. I guess I can see him as #2, but I never want to see him in 2004, 2005, or 2006. I'm much more interested in Melo Anthony than "Pauper" James.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 And I like how they chopped up to footage to pretend like Tom Jackson had the upper hand in that argument. Did they manage to add in a burning cross behind Limbaugh's seat? Also, did they add the soundbite of Jackson saying he had little black kids asking him if it was OK for them to become quarterbacks? And while I'm on this subject, what place did Racist Dusty get?...
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted December 30, 2003 do any of you actually watch LeBron or do you suffer from diahrea of the mouth? I'm a Celtics fan and I can see the guy is a stud player. The passing abilities of Magic Driving ability of MJ Good rebounder too if he can refine his shot like Bird's he could simply be a hybrid of the 3 greatest (80s era) basketball players ever...and that's nothing to laugh about. By the way, my personal top 3 of all time are MJ Bird Bill Russell
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I think the Italian Sausage getting hit by the baseball bat of Randall Simon should be in the top 10 (I didn't watch). Uhm. Top Ten should have been the top of everything. Top Story Top Game Top Athlete Top Team Top Personality (Owner, GM, whatever) and so on.

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 30, 2003 So he can only be the No. 1 sports story when he becomes the best basketball player ever? I think your standards are a bit high. And it's not like Sox-Yanks was the best game ever.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I think your standards are a bit high. And it's not like Sox-Yanks was the best game ever. The best game of the year. One of the best baseball games ever. So he can only be the No. 1 sports story when he becomes the best basketball player ever? He can be the No. one story when Kobe Bryant isn't excused of raping some girl.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted December 30, 2003 the day LeBron is caught wearing a Yankees cap is the day AngleSault will find him worthy of anything
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I actually agree. I thought the game should've been above LeBron. Especially when you consider the fallout. Yankees win once again, Grady Little gets canned for one move, etc. Its the forerunner for this offseason's arms race.
Mik 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Just for clarification, the Yankees/Sox game 7 WASN'T number 3. Number 3 was "The curses of the Cubs and Red Sox". Sure, the game was shown, that wasn't specifically what ranked number three.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I'll never get putting the Red Sox Curse on the same level as the Cubs. Cubs is longer and that's ALL it has going for it. Sox have blown it more, and the story of their curse actually matches up chronologically with the last time they won. Cubs bring some event from 1945 as a reason why they haven't won since 08? The fuck?
