MrRant 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 If you win the conference you'll probably get a bowl game. You can increase your strength of schedule by adding a couple non-conference games maybe against like the #20-25 ranked teams. You may get pasted or you may win one and that will help for next season.

MrRant 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I generally am always competitive. 1st and 2nd season usually suck and the teams that give me problems are teams like Miami who can always recruit well. Play as a team from a state without great recruiting year after year (CA, FL, Mid-West) like Maine or something like that where it is hard to recruit good players for awhile until your prestige is good. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Also there is the MAC (Marshall and then crap). When I played about eight seasons straight during my formative time learning the game, the MAC was fucking FEARSOME. Bowling Green, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, and Miami of Ohio were all at one point or more than one at a time ranked in the top 10, sometimes 5. Marshall dropped into obscurity after the first two seasons. Underground University is located in Orlando, which wasn't done to get good players, it was just fitting for the Ravers to play in the heart of the Florida scene. It was either there or San Francisco. Turned out to have a nice side effect.

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 San Francisco huh? Another point for the other side of the fence. It's the West Coast's center for electronica, ass. Right now it's halftime of my game against 2-2 #11 Notre Dame, at South Bend. I'm being embarassed so far 14-3 (and I'm #1 in the nation) thanks to those wonderfully timed turnovers the CPU's defense forces whenever I'm threatening. I get the ball after the half so I drove down before the break and got down to the ND 25 before a pass to my #2 receiver was caught and he ran to the ND 5 yard line... only to fumble, have the ball bounce almost out of bounds, then come back into play for an ND player to pick up. So yeah, I'm rocking them in total yards and every other statistic, but I'm losing. Three turnovers so far.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 (edited) When you have 454 yards in the air alone and you're losing 35-3, something screwy is obviously going on. I made SEVEN FUCKING TRIPS into the red zone and was only allowed to score a touchdown and not turn the ball over one time, with 50 seconds left in the game. Lost 35-10 to a fucking 2-2 Notre Dame team. Fun fact: "The Game" played during the height of the game's cheating, around turnover #9. EDIT: We went on to a 11-1 record, and face #17 Auburn in the SEC title game. We dropped to #5 after the loss to Notre Dame, but beating #1 Tennessee AT Knoxville was enough to vault me to #1 in both polls and the BCS. Maryland is #2 right now, and looks like I'll face them in the Sugar Bowl if I win against Auburn... Edited January 9, 2004 by Kotzenjunge

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I'm thisclose to giving up on this fucking game and going on a murderous rampage. SIX FUCKING INTERCEPTIONS IN ONE HALF NEVER HAPPENS. THE RUNNING BACK DOES NOT FUMBLE EVERY TIME HE TOUCHES THE BALL. I'm dead serious, the level of cheating going on by the CPU is out of hand. When I'm not throwing an interception or my running back isn't fumbling the ball, I'm getting sacked. I'M THE #1 TEAM IN THE NATION AND THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME. It ceases being enjoyable when the level of cheating is this high.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I decided to start up a Dynasty with Hawaii. I did alright in my first two years, winning the Rose Bowl(despite having a crappy schedule) and defeating Miami in the national championship game. In my third season, I have now decided to move up to All-American level as I think I have moved past Varsity level. Week 2, Game 1. I decided to start off on All-American against a real competitor, a true contender, a god among teams...Portland St. This game was to get me used to my new QB and WR's, as well as gettng adjusted to the All-American level. To Portland St's credit, they hung in there until about the third quarter. They got a field goal to make the game 21-10. On the ensuing kickoff, my team returned it for a TD, then got an INT which also was returned for a TD. The score quickly became 35-10, and the rout was on. Final score: Hawaii 56 Portland St. 10. Game 2, Week 3: No. 8 Hawaii at Toledo. My attempt in this game is to get a significant victory against a decent opponent. Toledo plays a Charmin soft schedule this year, and could easily go 11-1 or 10-2. Figuring this, I decided to jump on the gravy train. Plus, they are a better indicator of where I am than a team like Portland St. or Ball St.(who was originally in this spot on the schedule.) Immediately, things looked rosy as my offense is on fire. Two quick TD's later, and my team is up 14-0. Unfortunately, my offense decided to take a quick vacation after those TD's. Not much happened for the next few quarters, as both defenses were stifling. Finally, in the 4th quarter, my offense remembered they were actually playing a football game and were able to get more quick TD's. This put my team up 28-7, and closed the door on a game that should have much worse. My defense was impressive, blitzing the Toledo QB into oblivion. My QB had 4 TD passes and a 300+ yard game, along with 2 INT's. I wasn't happy with this win at all. Final Score: Hawaii 28 Toledo 7 Game 3 - No 7. Hawaii vs. Indiana In a bizarre fluke, Indiana pulled off 6 wins in a row last year, and finished in the Top 20. I decided that maybe they were good enough to do it two seasons in a row, and decided to schedule them this year. They promptly dispelled this notion by losing 24-21 to Ohio in their first game of the season. Ah well. This game was able to get national exposure, as Indiana was ranked 26th in the nation, while I was ranked 7th. My team started well by getting a quick INT. Unfortunately, my offense couldn't convert despite being in the red zone. Indiana took advantage and scored on the next drive, putting them up early. My team would rebound with two quick TD's putting us in the lead, 14-7. Late in the 2nd quarter, Indiana was at the goal line, and things were not looking good for my team. Their QB's tosses it into the end zone...INT~! by Paul Spence! He promptly took it 106 yards for the TD, and the 14 point lead going into the half! In a side quest for my team, I am trying to get Spence the all-time INT record in this game. Last year, he gained the team record with 11. He has 4 so far, and with several terrible teams on the horizon, it looks doable. Things were quiet until the 4th when my offense put together a dominant drive to make the game 28-7. My defense quickly followed with another INT which was returned for a TD, and Indiana was done. Final score: Hawaii 42 Indiana 7 My next game was against Iowa. It was a home game, and they were 0-2, so I simulated. My team won 16-13. Not as impressive as I wanted, but it saved me like an hour in playing time. Next up: 0-3 Rice. This is going to most likely be a brutal blowout. Rice has consistently sucked ass in the three seasons of this dynasty. I might check out this team when I finish this dynasty, but I am having a blast with Hawaii, thus far. I like this Hawaii team.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Well my Dynasty has been full of surprises so far. Here's the update of the 2003-04 season. Team Name: Canada Tech Comets Team Prestige: * Team Starting: Acedemic Division: WAC Schedule Rating: * National Ranking At Start: 75 First Game, Week 2: Canada Tech (0-0) At Houston (0-0) Final Score: 37-31 W Well, I went full out with Pass Heavy and I didn't do half bad. Mind you, I had 6 TOs. Ugly game really, I wasn't too proud of it, but I squeeked out the V thanks to a successful defending of the red zone (2 sacks pushed Houston out of field goal range). Second Game, Week 4: Canada Tech (1-0) at Duke (1-1) Final Score: 20-14 W This was awful. I couldn't get ANYTHING going my way. If it wasn't for a last minute drive to get the TD, I would've been the loser 13-14. I had 8 TOs this game. There wasn't much to sing about, as I had another bad game. Third Game, Week 5: Canada Tech (2-0) vs TCU (2-0) Final Score: 7-19 L I wish to God I could have this back. It was absolutely much more close than the score would indicate. Yet TOs killed me yet again. I had 6 of them, with two of them adding 10 PTS to my opponents score to down me out. Only bright spot is that Edward James had 100 yards. It was brutal folks. It was worse than LSU vs OU folks, that's the brutalness of it all. Fourth Game, Week 6: Canada Tech (2-1) at Hawaii (2-1) Final Score: 56-35 W I finally got fed up with Pass Heavy because of all the TOs and figured I might as well change the playbook and get hammered at Hawaii. Well, instead of getting hammered, it turned into the biggest airstrike game ever. Defense SUCKED ASS on both fronts, but both offense were clicking on all cylinders. Thankfully, mine kicked up 21 PTS in the first quarter to assure me of not having to worry when Hawaii was knocking on the door. I discovered that Run and Gun is definitely my style of play. Fifth Game, Week 7: THE FIRST BATTLE OF THE AMERICAS~! (...it's what my rivalry game is called, OK?) Canada Tech (3-1) vs. San Jose State (1-3) Final Score: 65-28 W So I head into the first BATTLE OF THE AMERICAS~! thinking I'm going to get squashed. I mean, come on. Last week was SO just a fluke as Hawaii was one of the better teams of WAC. Besides, I doubt that my Comets can come out and provide the twelve thousand on hand a good victory. I was running high as well from my victory at Hawaii as well (hell, even I knew I'm getting too happy over a single decently won game). Well you know you've got it good when you don't even BOTHER to use the run game (actually, I lost my FB for the game early on, so I decided to play the "all air game"). Using Run And Gun, young star QB, Nick Orton (yes, the guy has throw 8 picks and I still call him a star, shut up) just goes out and throws. And throws. Did I mention he throws a lot of passes? Like 43 of 61? For 621 yards? Did I also mention 9 TDs as well? Oh! And 2 picks as well. ...wait, that didn't come out right. When this game ended, not only had Nick turned into my most dangerous weapon (instead of the worst thing ever), Edward James and Derek Anderson (that's MR. ANDERSON to you) ended up with both 250+ yards. Nice day, eh? Oh and I found out the true meaning of the 3-4 defense here. Nice to finally figure that out. Sixth Game, Week: 9: Canada Tech (4-1) vs. Navy (2-4) Final Score: 73-20 W Before I begin, I'd just like to say, I knew it'd be a blowout. I mean, come on. It's Navy. What do they have to go up against my mighty juggernaut of DOOM~! Ok, I was still scared I was going to get chewed up for being a cocky bastard. Didn't have to worry long as on the opening kickoff, as his HB brings up the ball, he gets BLOWN HARD and FUMBLE! RECOVERY AT THE 22~! ...it went all my way from there folks. Nick Orton came out flying once again, snagging up another 500+ yards in the air. Once again Edward James and MR. ANDERSON had field days with the defenses as they both got 100+. Actually Eddy J managed to get 200+. MY NEXT GAME!!! Seventh Game, Week 10: Canada Tech (5-1) at Frescno State (4-3) Notes From My Season: Despite being the best QB in all of NCAA, Nick Orton (QBR: 162.3, COMP 202, ATT 290, YDS: 2374, TD: 27, INT 10, YDS/GAME 395.6, COMP%: 69, AVG: 8.1, LONG: 61, SACKED: 11) isn't even considered for the Heismen Trophy. BASTARDS! ...probably all those INTs. Or the sacks... Oh well... Edward James is, so it's all good. With 92 REC, 1015 YDS, AVG 11.0, 17 TDs, 169.1 YDS/GAME, 500 RAC, and RAC AVG: 5.4, he's #2. Currently my team is ranked #40 in National Polls heading into the game against Frescno State. Hopefully I can improve upon that. I don't know if WAC has a game to decide whom is the Champion, but I might have to have a game against Boise State as they are 6-1 whereas I'm 5-1. If we both keep going on this pace, both of us will only have a single loss. They'll be 12-1, where I'll be 11-1. So hopefully they lose a game if WAC doesn't have a Championship game. Reason I say this, is some how, I don't face them at all.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Well, I guess I can't win'em all. Seventh Game, Week 10: Canada Tech at Fresno State Final Score: 21-35 L Well, this was an unusual game to say the least. It was pretty much the tale of Mr. Airstrike and Doctor Interceptor. Nick Orton, my star QB came out flying in the first half... If by flying you mean coughing up 5 INTs to the enemy, two of them being returned to my own endzone flying. Well, I was of course humbled going into the second half. I mean, crap. I didn't think I could muster a comeback... Especially when I go down 21-0. Well, I managed to muster up something, and make it close 21-14, with Nick being his normal Airstrikian self, but I just couldn't get it done in the end. This sucks as I'm now probably out of contention for a Bowl game, but at least it was a good learning experience as I'm quite calm now with blitzes and will NOT break just because someone's hunting for Nick's head. Still managed 400+ yards threw the air, with MR. ANDERSON having 207 and Eddy J getting 174. Both got a TD as well. So at least that was good. Notes On The Season Heading Into Week 11: ~ Well unless WAC has a game that pits #1 and #2 in the division for the crown of WAC Champion, I'm left out in the cold with this second loss. Sad, but I don't think Boise will lose a game. Dammit, I wish I could face them. ~ Currently, I'm sitting in third, half back of Nevada, while I might not be getting the WAC Championship, I'll be damned if I don't make second place. So I'm TAKING THESE BASTARDS DOWN! ...here's hoping I do so. ~ Edward James is not only up for the Heismen, but the Maxwell as well. Both have him rated as #2. He'll most likely win the Best WR (unless MR. ANDERSON has anything to say about it, and could), and he's definitely a key reason why I'm winning games. ~ I kinda find it sad, but I have the best rush defesne in the league. Well second best, but I'm pretty much going to win the award. I only allow 93.9 yards right now, so I better get it. ~ I'm being told by the brass that I may be in a for a pleasent surprise after the 2003 season. DAMN! I'M GETTING A NEW CAR! WOOOO! ...wait, I'm just going to be here another year? ...oh well... I'll make something happen. Eighth Game, Week 11: Canada Tech vs. Nevada The Stakes: Second Place In WAC

I'm officially going to All-American now after missing a FG and 2 fucking extra points, also missed 1 last week. 216 yards from my QB and 101 yards rushing & 62 yards receiving from Knight certainly helped) Record = 2-1 Game #4(Week 5) vs #3 Miami Hurricanes(Just an absolute slaughter...for me. 47-3 beatdown of Miami launching me to #23 in the National Rankings from #44. Derrick Knight ran for 143 yards and 2 TD's and the defense continues to maul the quarterback, getting 7 sacks. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 MWAHAHAHAHA!!! Well apparently, I need not win my Conference! Eighth Game, Week 11: Canada Tech (5-2) vs. Nevada (6-2) Final Score: 45-17 W After my recent loss against Fresno State, I swore that my team would not only come out flying this game, but I would not lose another game since, to become sole possessor of second place in WAC. Well, not only did I do that, but I just played Airstrikian ball again, amasing a total of 400+ yards again by the air. It was a thing of beauty. Not really much more to add, since really it wasn't close at all. I'm still worried though about Orton's pick off rate as he did get picked a couple of times. Hopefully I can work on that. Eddy J and MR. ANDERSON both had good games. MR. ANDERSON had 200+ while Eddy J had 100+. Both with a handful of TDs that I forgot. Ninth Game, Week 12: Canada Tech (6-2) vs. Tulsa (4-5) Final Score: 77-14 W It was ugly... If only for the fact that they COULDN'T do SQUAT! I mean, yes, I know squash match, but come on now... Army was much better than this. Even though Orton was picked off twice (in the endzone no less) he managed to go 46 of 58, 649 yards, and 10 TD passes. Eddy J had a field day with 300+, and MR. ANDERSON got 200+. I must say, I loved the feeling of squashing them badly. Made me feel nice since I had no chance in hell of making a bowl game. Notes From The Season: ~ Edward James is now lead canidate for the Heismen Trophy and a shoe in for the Maxwell. Shall be interesting to see if he gets it (the other two players come from KSU, the #1 ranked team in NCAA). ~ My 2003 season has been upset after upset. This week #2 Auburn felt the STING and just got tossed from contention of playing Kansas State. This is the third week now that Kansas State's opponent has changed. Shall be interesting to see if the trend will continue. ~ Bowl Projections are up and would you believe I MADE a Bowl Projection? Yup, I did. So far, I'm looking at a dandy of a match up for Silicon Valley Classic Bowl. My opponent? Check who I beat in my Eighth game. Yup, that's who I'm facing so far. ~ National Ranking is 36~! I'm only 11 away from cracking the Top 25 Poll! Kinda interesting is that I own the best Pass Offense (434.4) and Rush Defense (84.4) in NCAA this season and best PTS/G (44.5). Then again, I'm playing powdercakes, so this is to be expected.

The mechanics of the games always seem skewed towards the exceptionally silly. Um... Not really. I was blitz like shit when I threw badly against Fresno State and TCU. They weren't giving me any chance to think or set up (as I was used to HAVING time to think and make a play). So I just made some really shitty passes. I probably would've won both games if I had gotten into the groove of making passes under pressure like that. Then again, if I didn't lose to either team, I wouldn't have gotten used to get blitz and staying in the pocket regardless if someone's trudging down upon me at full speed. HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Man...finished a fucking fabulous comeback win over #9 Pittsburgh Panthers. Going into the 4th Quarter, I'm down 14-7 and trying everything in my power to get a TD and at least tie and head into OT. Nothing's going well at all until the 1:00 mark hits. I'm down around their 30 and after trying 2 unsuccessful HB passes, It's 4th down and I figure fuck it and try it. Derrick Knight throws an absolutely picture perfect pass to the outside of my receiver's route, causing the receiver to head outside while the cornerback went in. Result: 30 yard TD as the receiver caught it in the endzone with 0:54 left in the game. So we go back and forth with a possession and I manage to get the ball back. I'm pinned on my own 9 yard line with roughly 0:30 left on the clock. After 2 plays of nothing it's 3rd & 10. I call for a Hail Mary cause A)I want to get out of my endzone and B)I don't want to settle for losing in OT. I quickly spot my WR #A open and zip the ball to him as he catches it wide open around the 45 and gets tackled down to the 35. It's now getting around the 15 second mark. I don't bother to call a timeout as I quickly try to hit Derrick Knight and manage to, sprinting down to the 30 however not able to get out of bounds. I quickly do a no huddle, scramble like a madman back to the line of scrimmage and hike the ball not realizing that it was 4th down(Do'h). Anyways, I fling the ball to the WR #A in the endzone praying a miracle happens, the ball gets tipped by the defender and is CAUGHT by my receiver in the back of the endzone with 2 seconds left in the bloody ballgame!! I hit the extra point and after KOing the kick returner, win 21-14 now sending me to #16 as I was ranked #23 at the time of the game and knocking Pittsburgh to #12. The greatness score was 1,856. Whew...just had to gloat
