Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 4, 2004 Ok here's my roster first: QB - Matt Hasselbeck, David Carr RB - Priest Holmes, Troy Hambrick, Michael Bennett, Kevin Faulk WR - Chad Johnson, Jimmy Smith, Reggie Wayne, Amani Toomer, Ashley Lelie TE - Randy McMichael K - Ryan Longwell Def - Baltimore, Kansas City So my question is who should I keep. The way my league works is you get 3 carry overs for the next season. The only limit is you can only carry a player over twice in a row. I'm planning to keep Hasselbeck, Chad Johnson and Priest Holmes, what are your feelings on it? Holmes I've carried over once and am planning to probably trade him for Ricky Williams towards the end of next season to keep an elite back.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 I would consider keeping the Ravens defense.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 I might take Lelie over Chad Johnson. Depends on who comes back for the Broncos next year at WR.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 Johnson and Holmes are no brainers to me. If this is a league with people you know, try to get a read on who they are keeping. If you sense there are going to be some QBs available drop Hasselbeck and keep Baltimore. But if people are hanging onto their QBs, keep Hasselbeck.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 4, 2004 (edited) I'm the Commish. I know all of the carry overs. Edit: But I finished 11-3 and made it to the League Championship so I get the next to last pick in the draft. I would rather be able to grab a good running back with my first pick and hopefully get a good receiver on my next time around. Hasselbeck was a solid QB and I think he could do even better next season. Edited January 4, 2004 by Mad Dog
starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 Are you only allowed one player at each position? And are all these guys protection eligible? My general strategy here would be to protect in this order: RB (+Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison), QB, K, WR (except Moss and Harrison, incl Sharpe, Gonzalez and maybe Shockey). So if you can, I'd keep Bennett over Johnson. --- I have my own protection question. In my keeper league I can protect up to 4 RB/WR/TE. I plan on using all slots for RBs, but my problem is that I have 5 RBs that I should probably protect. My RBs are: Tiki Barber Marshall Faulk (You) William Green James Stewart (I picked him up on IR late in the season) Brian Westbrook I'd probably drop Stewart. What do you think? the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 I would drop Stewart, certainly. At his age, as a RB, you can't count on any good return from injury. And I was considering Bennett over Johnson, but with the performances that Onterrio Smith had at the end of the year, plus Moe Williams still stealing goal line carries, there is too much work being stolen from him to keep him, IMO. razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 I would not keep Shockey, he is the same type of player as Keyshaun Johnson and is only a position receiver who rarely gets TDs. Trade Shockey for a better player. The whole Running Back by committee situation is not good in fantasy football. I would trade the Vikings and Eagles RBs for someone like Ahmed Green or Dominiac Davis.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 I don't see anyone in their right mind giving up Ahman Green for a Minnesota or Philly RB. The guy was a fantasy monster this year.

I would trade the Vikings and Eagles RBs for someone like Ahmed Green or Dominiac Davis. Unfortunately the owners of Green and Davis aren't nucking futs, so it's not gonna happen. The thing is that in my league RBs get bonus points for catching a TD, which makes Westbrook a valuable 4th RB. Ideally, I'd like to move (William) Green for another RB, but it seems unlikely at this point. I may try to trade him for Kevan Barlow, but in my mind I'm thinking that my being a fan of the Niners is overrating Barlow. Or underrating Green, I'm not sure which. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 5, 2004 William Green will most likely be losing his job to Lee Suggs or getting cut/released in the offseason.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 Look for a RB that does not have to share time with a back up. Maybe trade a player for a draft pick?
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2004 If you can do Green/Barlow do it in a heartbeat.
