Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2004 (edited) Yeah, yeah, I know. The world needs another guy with an acoustic guitar like the WWE needs another hoss, but this guy is different. Great emotional lyrics, cello's, violas, violins, monk chants and Finnish opera singers. The best new solo artist that I've heard in years, bar none. Oh, and his backup singers voice smokes 99% of the mainstream female artists voices. If you're looking for some of his best, try.... "Cannonball" "Eskimo" "Cold Water" "Amie". Anybody else know of him? Edited January 7, 2004 by Lord of The Curry
justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2004 "Volcano" is a damn good song, as well. And I agree about the backup singer. She has this smoky, sexy voice about her that just makes the song that much better. Definite recommendation to anyone that likes good music.

Sonic Reducer 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2004 The backup singer sounds like Natalie Merchant. He also did a halfway decent cover of Creep by Radiohead. And Volcano was a good song.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2004 IMO it's a toss-up between "Cannonball" and "Eskimo." Cold Water- Haunting voices and Lisa Hannigan (backup singers) voice slowly entering the song is beautiful. The lyrics are slightly romantic and sad as well and Hannigan and Rice play off each other very well. The viola and cello rise near the end of the song is fuckin boss. "Eskimo" Finnish fucking Opera singer. You read that right. And it OWNS. OWNS. Plus, Rice's lyrics are on-point again in this one. In fact, part of the lyrics are in my sig that's how much I digs it. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2004 Most saturnsmarks4lives cited this guy as 'the musical equivalent of a grey wall'. One was heard to utter 'Remember that David Gray?'
Guest MissMattitude Report post Posted January 9, 2004 He reminds me a lot of Jeff Buckley actually, which is never a bad thing.
