Guest Anglesault Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 I think that spot would go to Foley - if he ever were to come back. Chavo vs. Rey Tag match Womens match Foley match Hoss match (US title??) Angle Guerrero Tag match Brock Match Hunter match I think you have Angle/Eddy a little high for a, well, uhm, stupid assed feud.
Mole Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 I always liked Angle as a heel, he is so damn good at it. I just miss those "You Suck" chants too, they are golden. The chants never left even as a face the fans chanted "You Suck" at Angle. They are no where as loud as they used to be. Anglesault, what feud will make you happy with Angle involved? I don't think I've ever seen you say something positive about Angle's feuds.

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle in a "who's better?" feud. I don't think I've ever seen you say something positive about Angle's feuds. Cena vs Angle was relatively short.
Papacita Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 I'd like to see Angle and Eddy both go into the Mania match as faces before running with Kurt's heel turn. They could have Eddy go over Kurt by cheating and, most likely, he'll receive a face pop after the match. That week on Smackdown, Kurt goes the Bret Hart route, complaining about Eddy's dishonesty and questioning how fans could cheer for such blatant cheating. He says he's lost a lot of respect for Eddy because real men don't cheat, and if Eddy's any kind of real man, he'll give him a rematch and he'll fight him fair and square to see who's truly the better man. With his manhood being questioned, Eddy accepts the rematch and agrees not to cheat. They put a lot of hype into the rematch, with both men going into intense training, and they could go the Brock/Rock route of showing their training videos, strategies they'll use against their opponent and place heavy emphasis on Eddy's promise not to cheat. Then, when the match actually takes place at Judgment Day, they could either have Eddy beat Kurt cleanly in a hard fought match and have Kurt snap and attack him afterwards, or they could just have Kurt hypocritically cheat to win, then turn and attack Eddy post match when he questions him about it. I think either way, Kurt's heel turn would seem a lot more natural and would be a lot easier for fans to get into than if they just had him randomly turn leading into Mania.

How about we DON'T turn Kurt heel for the fourth time in 2 and a half years?

Yeah but, they were still fairly loud and for being the top face on SD that's not good. You would think the fans would stop chanting it all together for the top face. It's just Angle wasn't a good face.

I like Kurt better as face, actually, but if they have to turn him, I'd rather him have a turn in a meaningful way rather than just hotshotting it out of the blue with little explanation, like they've done so many times in the last few years.
CanadianChick Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Yeah, this was obviously coming. I mean, there are no top heels, either than Brock of course, on Smackdown. So what do they do when the need someone to turn? Why, get Angle to turn again! While it's not great that he so frequently turns heel/face, he's much better as a heel, so I'll take it.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 he's much better as a heel, so I'll take it. I honestly couldn't sit through another heel run. A heel that is ALWAYS the but of every single joke wears thin very quickly, especially when we're supposed to buy that he is some kind of top level threat.
CanadianChick Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 But he's so vanilla as a face. Especially right now. All he's doing is playing American Hero, and every time he talks (which is all he's doing right now), he bores me. Granted, I'm not a huge fan of comedy main eventer, but being the serious heel (like he was last year with the title and Team Angle) is fine.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Turn him. Face Kurt Angle is about as interesting as Mizark Henry. Let's face it. Angle can only play the heel goof. It got him over. It's what he is good it. It's what he looks comfortable doing. That is his character and he hasn't shown any idication that he is capable of anything else. Plus, he probably enjoys it more.

Are you crazy? For a few weeks, Angle was playing the crazy heel. He can pull that off too, no problem.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Let's face it. Angle can only play the heel goof. It got him over. It's what he is good it And it's usefulness ran out in 2001. It's time for him to retire from active competition. I'm guessing you're not a fan of Cena. What makes you say that? I'm not a huge fan, but even if I was, the Angle/Cena one month feud was painful to watch.

He enjoys playing the goof, period. If he didn't come up with the midget/rap skit, he was completely behind it. He wanted the feud with Cena, and since he's buddies with Vince, he gets what he wants most of the time.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Yeah but, they were still fairly loud and for being the top face on SD that's not good. But Angle wanted the fans to still chant "You suck!" Cena vs Angle was relatively short. The feud was supposed to continue, but obvious it got scrapped. Say what you want, but Angle / Cena OWNED No Mercy.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 11, 2004 Author Report Posted January 11, 2004 Yeah but, they were still fairly loud and for being the top face on SD that's not good. But Angle wanted the fans to still chant "You suck!" Yeah and for someone that's suppose to be the top face that's pretty fucking dumb to do.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 It's time for him to retire from active competition. Well, he needs further surgery down the line anyway, and once that happens, it's over. The Jho procedure only bought time. Say what you want, but Angle / Cena OWNED No Mercy. Yet Vince/Steph got more attention from the live crowd, the people watching at home, and had a more effective fallout. Angle/Cena was forgotten after the SD that followed the PPV.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 And it's usefulness ran out in 2001. Entertaining the fans isn't useful?
Guest Anglesault Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 The feud was supposed to continue, but obvious it got scrapped. Thank GOD. Say what you want, but Angle / Cena OWNED No Mercy. And ruined Smackdown.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Yeah and for someone that's suppose to be the top face that's pretty fucking dumb to do. I agree, but he did it. Yet Vince/Steph got more attention from the live crowd Bullshit, Angle / Cena had a HOT crowd that was very much into the match.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Yet Vince/Steph got more attention from the live crowd Bullshit, Angle / Cena had a HOT crowd that was very much into the match. Did I say that it wasn't?
Guest Anglesault Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 And it's usefulness ran out in 2001. Entertaining the fans isn't useful? The idiot bumbling goof who never does ANYTHING right doesn't translate to main event AT ALL. Why do you think the Angle/Edge feud was such a creative disaster that didn't benefit Edge at all? Because everything had to be FUNNY~! By the time Edge beat Angle, he had proven Kurt to be such a bumbling jackass that was completely inept that the fans didn't see it as a huge win.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 And ruined Smackdown. How so? And if anything, SD was ruined way before NM. Did I say that it wasn't? No, but I disagreed with your comment saying McMahon / McMahon got more attention than Angle / Cena.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Well Rico, it did. Vince/Steph in the weeks preceeding was ALWAYS the focus of the show, and the crowd responded accordingly, like they do 85-90% of the time. That is what I meant by more attention. And say what you will, but the Vince/Steph match stuck in the fans' minds more. The only talk after Angle/Cena was how Cena wasn't put over once again in a PPV scenario, and idiot talk about how it was reminiscent of Survivor Series 1996.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 The idiot bumbling goof who never does ANYTHING right doesn't translate to main event AT ALL. But that isn't Angle's character. He often did things right as a heel. Sure, he usually had back up or cheated, but heels do that kind of thing. Why do you think the Angle/Edge feud was such a creative disaster that didn't benefit Edge at all? I don't think it was a "creative disaster". Sure, I hated it. You hated it (shock). But, I'm pretty sure the fans enjoyed it (which was my point originally). .
Mole Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 I'm guessing you're not a fan of Cena. What makes you say that? I'm not a huge fan, but even if I was, the Angle/Cena one month feud was painful to watch. Come on Anglesault...
Lil' Bitch Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Well, of course all the McMahon matches get advertised more than the real ones! Unfortunately, the Baltimore did react for the McMahon debacle, but they went apeshit for Angle / Cena. That's what I'm trying to say.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 The idiot bumbling goof who never does ANYTHING right doesn't translate to main event AT ALL. But that isn't Angle's character. He often did things right as a heel. , When? Occasionally he'd luck out, but more often than not he was inept He RARELY had something go right for him unless it just fell in his lap. I don't think it was a "creative disaster". Did it elevate Edge? Come on Anglesault... Huh?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Unfortunately, the Baltimore did react for the McMahon debacle, but they went apeshit for Angle / Cena. That's what I'm trying to say. Erm...no. They went apeshit for Steph-Vince. Sad but true.
