Reese and Hershey's Swoops

Taste: This is a whole new category of snack. The concept here is that these are supposed to taste like Reese's but have the shape of Pringles. Definitely an odd concept. This container includes three individually sealed 6-packs of Swoops. Upon opening one of the 6-packs, I found that the Swoops are indeed shaped like Pringles, but slightly smaller. The top of the Swoop is chocolate brown in color, except for a peanut butter squiggle across the middle, resembling the pattern on Charlie Brown's shirt. (The actual pattern on the chips is quite a bit different from what was pictured on the package, which showed more squiggles, each of which was far narrower, taller and swoopier than the real ones on the Swoops.) On the bottom of the Swoops, there's no squiggle, but the whole brown bottom surface is textured with a pattern of diamonds, like something you'd see on a sweater. The packaging notwithstanding, the candies themselves look very classy, like something you would see overpriced at a fine chocolate store, rather than the candy aisle of the supermarket at 18 for $1.50. The packaging is functional, though, as none of the Swoops were broken or stuck together. There was a slight whitening of the chocolate in the area where one Swoop touched the next. Unlike a real Reese's peanut butter cup, the peanut butter and chocolate aren't actually separate, but all mixed together in a material with a uniform consistency. But the taste is pretty much just like a real Reese's. Even more impressive, you get the taste of a Reese's without having to peel the paper off the peanut butter cup.

Aroma: Smells like Reese's.

Manufacturer: Hershey Foods Corporation (USA)

From the bag: "Irresistible slices of peanut butter candy" ... "Reese's® Swoops™ are the essence of your favorite chocolate candy. The unique shape envelops your mouth in chocolate bliss. The a moment to experience Seops™ ... anytime, anywhere!"

Taste: The good folks at Hershey's have taken The Great American Chocolate Bar and reshaped it to the form of a potato chip. (It's sort of like a Hershey Bar joined the Superfriends and declared "Wonder Twins powers ... activate! Shape of ... Pringles!" If the other twin could become a glass of milk, things would be just about perfect for me right now.) I can't even begin to imagine how or why they came up with an idea like this. But if you like the taste of a Hershey Bar, you should be quite satisfied with the taste of this Swoop, because it's the same. The cool thing I discovered is that the Swoop is approximately the shape of the roof of your mouth, so you can put one in your mouth and leave it there as it dissolves, giving you several minutes of great chocolate taste.

Aroma: Smells just like a Hershey Bar.

Manufacturer: Hershey Foods Corporation (USA)

From the bag: "Irresistible Slices of Chocolate Candy!" ... "Allergy information: Manufactured on the same equipment that processes peanuts/almonds."

Mmmmmmmmmm, I love these Swoops. I had them for the first time about two-three weeks ago. I love how they are packaged and just how they look overall.

Mmmmmmmm...

I got two boxes of 'em for X-Mas candy. I hate them. They taste nothing like peanut butter cups, and smell like peanut butter cups that have been deep fried in shit.
