TNA Going Forward On PPV Plans Without Hogan

Recommended Posts

The Torch says that it's a go for April, with NWATNA trying to sign Hall/Nash and Shamrock for the event.

Toby Keith will be performing, which is reason enough not to watch.

Yeah it is the news thing from the Torch.

TNA Officially Moves 3 Hour PPV To April

And Hogan won't be involved...

Jeff Jarrett announced in a meeting backstage at the TNA PPV last night that the company's first 3 hour Sunday PPV, Bound for Glory, will take place in April. He also ended rumors by stating that Hulk Hogan will not be on the PPV.

The event was originally slated for November with Jeff Jarrett vs. Hulk Hogan as the main event. Hogan then pulled out due to a knee injury and has since distanced himself from TNA.

The PPV will likely take place at an army base in Kentucky.

TNA is likely to bring in Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Ken Shamrock, and whichever other big names they can get for the PPV. Country music star Toby Keith will also perform.

SHAMROCK? HALL? NASH?

Man, I thought "The Surreal Life" had a weak listing of "stars".

The first NWA World Champion of the TNA era, one of the most popular stars from the inception of TNA and a recent WWF main eventer. I don't think that's exactly second class...

Why did it take them so damn long to come to this conclusion? Why are they still trying to postpone shit in hopes that Hogan will show up again? If Hulk Hogan was going to come to NWA:TNA, he would've done it already, injured knee or not.

Sure, Hogan would've been the biggest name that NWA:TNA could possibly hope to get, but how many people would've known that he was coming anyway? It's not like they have tons of advertising. Sure, a lot of people with internet would've known, but they are pretty much the base audience anyway.

A complete DUD as champ. The WORST champ IN TNA. Crap in the ring, horrid on the mic.

one of the most popular stars from the inception of TNA

I debate that heavily. He appeared for how many shows?

and a recent WWF main eventer.

The Dudley Boys have been in main events. I wouldn't call them good signings, either.

Especially since Hall & Nash, reportedly, will be amongst the highest-paid guys in the back, despite their drawing power being non-existant since 1997.

I don't think that's exactly second class...

It was a second-class as using Rick Steiner and Hacksaw Duggan.

USE YOUR OWN TALENT, TNA.

These guys aren't worth it.

Mike, I don't know how frequent a TNA watcher you are but I've seen just about every show since week 1. Shamrock may have been a DUD as a world champion but by being the first of the TNA era he's part of their history and from the beginning the company has stressed the importance of history and tradition. I for one am really glad Shamrock is being brought back if for no other reason than I don't think it's right that a formal world champ disappear from the show forever.

As for Hall he was one of the main stars for the first 5 weeks of the show, disappeared for a few weeks and came back for I believe 3 more along with Syxx Pac. Hall always got big pops from the Asylum and was percieved as a true star in a comapny that hadn't established itself yet. Plus he always worked hard in his time there and only left the first time because of trouble getting a babysitter for his kids on Wednesday and then the second time when SyxxPac was let go. So, I don't see how it's debateable that Hall was one of TNA's biggest and most popular names in the early weeks.

As for Nash, it's hard for me to defend him, but being that Hall likes to work with his friends, Nash probably brings back Hall and IS a recent WWE main eventer and WWF world champion so and without Hogan is probably the biggest current name avaliable. That's a little more than Steiner and Duggan who haven't been on the national scene for 4 or 5 years now and were never main eventers or world champions.

Sigh, Nash was SHIT in the WWE. He got his ass handed to him by everyone, and stunk up the main event. NOBODY cared about him...sure he'll get a pop in TNA on name recognition, but if you think this is going to help TNA "make it big", you're nuts.

Let me stress I'm defending Nash the least, I don't want him either, but he's not quite as useless as Duggan or Steiner, but I'll agree he's DONE.

I'm more positive on Shamrock and Hall though for the previously stated reasons.

Well I think i'll post my dream card since a few others did.

Sting vs Styles vs Raven vs Jarrett-World Title Elimation Match

Styles and Jarrett would be the first two out, and then the two big TNA fan favorites Sting and Raven would go at it to determine a new World champion. The fans would know a new champion would finally be crowned. Raven would achieve his "destiny" and both men would shake hands afterwords.

Jerry Lynn vs Chris Sabin-X Division Finals

Jerry Lynn goes over here and defeats Chris Sabin for his X-Division strap.

Abyss vs D'Lo

Two good TNA wrestlers who are teetering in and out of the main event scene. Could be a good match, and either man could go over.

AMW vs Redshirts vs 3 Live Krew-Tag Titles

Just a mandatory tag team title match. Could care less who goes over....

Chris Sabin vs Low Ki

-Chris Sabin goes over Low Ki in a hard fought bout. Advances to finals

Jerry Lynn vs Kid Kash

-Jerry Lynn pulls out the win to advance to the finals.

Shane Douglas/Michael Shane vs Daniels/Skipper

-If the storyline going on now is still in existence then this should be decent. XXX goes over in this one.

In my opinion this is a good dream card. I know some will say Styles and Raven should be the last two in the main event, but I think Sting can still work a good match if given the time and if motivated. This would be a big day for TNA so the motivation should be there...AND Raven finally gets the title. I think the small X-Division Tourny would showcase what the X-Division is all about. Tag titles are defended, and two of your better wrestlers outside of the main event are on the card. Is it good enough to save TNA? Probably not, but it could probably be one of the better events we see for the next few years.
