MrRant 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- A woman passed through security screening at New York's LaGuardia Airport with a stun gun and knife in her purse -- but later discovered the mistake herself and alerted authorities. The woman realized she was carrying the items after a short layover in Detroit and on her way to Denver. "She immediately went, 'Oh, my God, I'm not supposed to have these here,' and called the flight attendant over," said Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Laura Bennett. The pilot alerted Denver International Airport; police met the plane at the gate and took the woman into custody for questioning. She was released without charges. "She did the right thing by giving up the items voluntarily, and she was never malicious," Bennett said. "We never considered her a threat." Transportation Security Administration officials had no comment on the security slip. TSA official Darrin Kayser said the agency would investigate. "It was an honest but odd mistake," Bennett said. "But it's true that people often don't think about what's in their luggage." http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/01/25/ai...y.ap/index.html

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 If you want to expose the airling screening process, this is how you do it. Not like how that little dipshit did a while back with the notes and stuff. At least this is how you do it and not get into legal trouble...

Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 On topic, shit like this pisses me off. This means that it's just gonna be that much more difficult to get onto the fucking plane through security.

Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 I really don't have much of a choice. It's kinda sad, I actually dared to originate my flight out of Pittsburgh once, and they managed to search all of my luggage, give me a pat down, use that stupid metal detector wand on me, and then pull me aside before boarding and did both AGAIN. Of course, that doesn't always happen, but now that this bitch forgot to take her shit out of her purse, it might!
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Well if you had your "Howie in '04" shirt on they may have thought you a terrorist. Don't get me started on the Pittsburgh Airport -- U.S. Air (or whatever airline located up there that just got a new lease deal) is one of the biggest welfare queens in the region... Guest Cerebus Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Fantasitc...they confiscate my sister's compass needle, my mother's nailfile, and they shookdown my cribbage board and almost confenscated the tiny metal pegs (till I told them it would make the entire thing utterly useless and I would be out $25) yet they let her slip buy with a stungun and a knife? Unbelievable.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 I've actually gotten past security with a broken credit card that was so sharp it cut my hand when I tried to pull it out of my pocket unwittingly.
Mole 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Wow, this shows how good Denver security is. How the hell did they let this go by? Did the person who looks at the x-ray machine just not notice the stun gun in her purse? Or the knife? In 1989, I was 6 coming back from Disney World, I had a box of 64 crayons in my bag. They stopped me, a 6 year old, and made me open the bag because they thought it was fireworks. And this was WAY before 9/11. But they let a women with a stun gun and knife get on a plane after 9/11? I'm not getting on a plane any time soon, plus the fact I can't afford it.

Guest stardust Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Last month my grandma somehow managed to carry a big ass pair of scissors in her luggage with her when she flew out to west Texas. We still don't know why she packed them, though. And I'm actually flying in two and a half weeks and have to be there at least 90 minutes early. All I can say is that they better treat my cameras gently since I'm carrying them on.

No F'ing Way. When I went to Disney World, they didn't let me take my plastic sword on the plane. That was like 1990. Guess, Orlando has good airport security. We still don't know why she packed them, though. I would say this is an exception though, a few months back I went to Disney World and it was around Halloween time so they were having their special Halloween parties at the Magic Kingdom, where they encouraged you to dress in costume. On the bus from the All-Star Music to the park, 2 women were sitting by us complaining about how they had to buy scissors when they got there because they had tried to bring a pair on the plane to work on their costume (Scarecrow and Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ). The guards took the scissors and would not even consider letting them on the plane.
