Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Just saw RR 92 where he came out to announce that the match was for the World title. Sad stuff, RIP.
Guest KidKrash Report post Posted January 27, 2004 JJ Dillon was a good authority figure too Yeah he didn't favor the faces at all. He would only come out to go against the nWo or Jericho.
Ced 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Sad to hear of his passing. Tunney, like several other posters have already stated, is the prime example of what a GM/President/Figurehead should be: He'd show up, make the big announcement, then vanish for weeks at a time, sometimes months. He didn't show up in every other segment. He didn't carry on with long promos. He simply got angles going and let the wrestlers do their thing. Everybody knew it was big news when Tunney was on-screen and we listened to every word he said.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 FUCK! I was just watching RR 92 over the weekend. Thank you for the memories, Jack.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Did they do a video on RAW tonight?
Guest JMA Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Tunney was the BEST authority figure I've ever seen in pro wrestling. That's not an exaggeration either. I'd put Monsoon at a close second when he became President.
yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 This is just sad news. Jack Tunney was a great figurehead. There's nothing I can say that hasn't been already though. RIP
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 27, 2004 WOW, this really brought back memories from when I was a kid watching WWF TV. RIP JACK.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Wow, am I ever out of it...didn't even know this until just now. I never like to see anyone die, but considering Tunney was the guy who essentially killed wrestling in Canada, I can't say that I'm too choked up.
Mole 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 My guess is they didn't do a video package for Tunney at Raw. Or did they?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2004 If they did, I didn't see it.
Guest Bottled Black Report post Posted January 27, 2004 I didn't see it either which actually doesn't surprise me since I can't even find a mention of his passing on the WWE website.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted January 29, 2004 We lost another one boys... http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=49258 Plus: Former WWF Tag Team Champion Afa Anoa'i collapsed at last night's WXW show after entering the ring to br- eak up a "worked confrontation" between his nephew Rosie of WWE fame, and WXW Champion Gene Snisky. When family and friends realized that this was not part of the show;they rushed to his aid, accompanied by Dr. Frank Romascavage, physician in attendance. Afa was treated at ringside, and then taken to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed to be suf- fering from complications from diabetes, as well as a second, undisclosed condition that will require surgery scheduled for later this week. AND: I also just read that Captain Lou Albano has had to be hospitalized for severe pneumonia (according to David Penzer - one of his booking agents). The Captain is 71 FYI
