El Gigante 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 I go to turn my computer on today and I get a message saying that Windows is corrupted and it gives me the option to either keep on loading windows normally or go back to a time when it was running correctly. So I try each of them and after I would select them the computer would just restart and give me the same message again. After going through this I decide to just reinstall XP and start over. I reformat the hard drive and everything then once the computer boots up, the monitor is stuck on the 800x600 resolution and isnt able to be changed. Then I go to connect to the internet and that isnt working as well. Anyone know whats up with this and what i can do to fix it?
MooreMark 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 I had a similar problem minus the monitor and internet stuff. After 2 reformats my HD died but I was able to get a new one because my cpu is on warranty. First time it happened, I just went ahead a reinstalled windows, then a few days after it died again but when I tried to reinstall windows it wouldnt copy some nesscessary files. Eclipse 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Well, since you reformatted, you lost everything, including drivers for monitor and modems in XP. If you needed to download drivers for the modem or your video card (if XP didn't autoload one), they are gone now. You will need to somehow get an XP Driver for your modem. Since you can't even get on the net, get the driver from like a friend's computer. Download it, and get it on a CD or something. Once you get the driver up, it will let you dial up to the net. Also, you will probably need to configure your connection to the internet. As for your monitor, same thing, get a driver for it, and install it...
El Gigante 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Thanks. All it took was for me to put in the CD that said DRIVERS to get the job done. Now if only I had noticed that earlier.
