Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Well I saw Miracle last night. I thought it was a pretty good movie but I was going in expecting a movie that would get me choked up and have me on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Unfortunately they didn't do that. I think Disney has lost the special touch of pulling on the old heart strings. Don't get me wrong it was a good movie and actually did get me on the edge of my seat during the USA/Russia Hockey game at the end but the rest of the time it just didn't. I was interested in the movie and it's characters but I just didn't have that feeling I had when I was a little kid watching movies like Rudy....hell I still get a tug on the old heart strings whenever I watch Rudy. Oh well.......it was a good movie though and I wasn't born until 1984 but I understand that everyone in America went crazy when they won.
treble 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Why did you expect to be on the edge of your seat? The movie was supposed to be about telling the story of Herb Brooks wanting to win what was taken away from him in 1960 when he was cut from the team that year and it did a really good job doing that. The USA/USSR game was really well done, too, and I'm really glad they chose hockey players and had them act (which they weren't really good at, but there weren't many scenes that relied on the players, so it was ok) as opposed to having to teach actors how to play hockey. A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Was it better than the original Mighty Ducks? Because that movie still gives me chills in the last game.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 I was expecting the real story to keep me on the edge of my seat. And the actual Hockey game did do that. I guess I was expecting Hollywood sensationalizing but for ONCE in the history of mankind they didn't embellish to much. Yay. I haven't seen The Mighty Ducks in a while but I do remember that giving me chills to. So wait all of the guys on the team were hockey players? But the goalie was played by Tag from Friends wasn't he?
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 After a quick look at IMDB, yeah, that's Tag. I guess they needed a real actor to play Jim Craig. Many lines?
treble 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 He had more lines than any other player, plus he was pretty much the only guy with a backstory to his character.
Mole 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Eh, there are other movies that I want to see before this. I want to see the Oscar nominations first. Rudy still gets me choked up though. That is classic and I always knew there was a future for Sean Astin after I saw that.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Toy Soldiers is still his best role.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Acttually, they had former Conn Smythe winner Billy Ranford do the on ice scenes for Jim Craig.
