Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 21, 2004 DMX's early stuff is some of the best shit out there and his concerts are by far one of the greatest live experiences you'll ever have. Nas actually has a good voice, where-as Jay-Z sounds like his larger than life lips are just slapping him in the face as he speaks. One Mic and Hate Me Now(w/ Puff) are two of the most powerful songs in Rap. RZA is some funny shit. Domestic Violence is just beautiful. As far as Wu-Tang goes you can't go wrong there. Especially Meth Snoop just released a CD recently to release one IMO, but there's no denying that Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather, and Da Game is to Be Sold & Not Told are great albums
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted February 21, 2004 As far as I've noticed, no one's taken Jay-Z to task for the track "Moment of Clarity." That's because it has that incredibly unique Eminem-produced beat. Please tell me you didn't just put the words "unique" and "Eminem-produced beat" anywhere near each other, let alone the same sentence. That in itself is a joke. Em may be a talented lyricist, but when it comes to the production, the guy's beats are clones of each other (and that's not a good thing). Speaking of which, Eminem is coming out with a CD in March I believe. How well will that one sell? Really well?
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 (edited) DMX's early stuff is some of the best shit out there and his concerts are by far one of the greatest live experiences you'll ever have. He's got energy, but he's always been a bit of a joke to me. I don't know how to take the man seriously, and his latest album is lame. Come on, DMX, didn't you used to be hard? Nas actually has a good voice, where-as Jay-Z sounds like his larger than life lips are just slapping him in the face as he speaks. One Mic and Hate Me Now(w/ Puff) are two of the most powerful songs in Rap. I'd put "Song Cry" and "Heart of the City" ahead of those two songs as far as power goes. And sheeit, that's just off one album. Nas is all right, not bad, but that awful middle period really takes the shine off of him. RZA is some funny shit. Domestic Violence is just beautiful. As far as Wu-Tang goes you can't go wrong there. Especially Meth RZA is easily the worst rapper in Wu-Tang and it shows on his solo stuff. Production? Fantastic. Actually rapping? Gimme GZA, Ghostface, or Raekwon any day. but there's no denying that Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather, and Da Game is to Be Sold & Not Told are great albums There's so much denying. Those albums blow. Except Doggystyle, of course. I don't think even Snoop believes he's done anything particularly good since 1996. Nowadays he pops off the occasional good guest spot ("P.I.M.P.") and the occasional lame guest spot ("Holidae Inn"), and that's about it. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 21, 2004 RZA isn't something you take seriously. He's like a comedy act, but still...its funny shit. I always got a laugh off of him. Snoop was always that serious beat and lyrics with a voice that doesn't send you into a rage. Personally I use to love sitting back after a day of school, throwing in one of his CDs or Dre's and just getting stoned before going off to do whatever I had planned for the rest of that day. Major stress killer right there, and that's what music should be about...calming you and placing you in a comfort zone.

Little of his solo stuff reflects a sense of humor; same for his Wu work. The guy was never good for comic relief.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 ^ODB on drugs is the comic relief of the Wu. DMX: His early stuff is good but the last two albums isn't all that. Snoop: He hasn't done anything since Doggystyle, he just living off his minstrel pimp gimmick. RZA: Good producer, too bad kanye west gets more credit when using soul samples, but RZA was the one started doing soul samples first.

RZA gets enough credit in other departments, so I doubt he's sweating it. If he is, then he should just focus his energy into making something good, not ass drippings like Birth of a Prince. The man worked wonders on the Kill Bill soundtrack, though. There's absolutely no denying that...except for when he rapped on that one song. That was just god-awful.
