Guest Redhawk Report post Posted February 17, 2004 They brought Whitlock (a columnist at the K.C.-Star and regular on "The Sports Reporters" and on ESPN.com's Page 2) and Rocka (never heard of him) on to talk about the A-Rod deal. So Whitlock does the usual "Yankees have an unfair advantage," argument, as well as some weird "Baseball isn't really that big a deal in Boston" argument. Then Rocka just destroys every point Whitlock made, bringing out numbers and stats and TV ratings and everything. After awhile, Whitlock just shut up because he had nothing to say. Even the Sportscenter anchor who was facilitating the thing was laughing.

Cartman 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2004 Woah Woah Woah! Baseball isnt that big a deal in Boston? Is he kidding? OK so just off the heels of the Patriots' second Super Bowl win in 3 years, whats the topic on the sports talk radio shows? Red Sox/Baseball. Halfway through the NFL season while the Pats were beginning their incredible streak, whats the topic on sports talk radio? Red Sox/Grady. Baseball is a way of life in Boston and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Ask Peter Gammons, Bob Ryan, or Dan Shaughnessy is the Sox aren't really that big a deal in Boston. EDIT; Oh yea and BTW the season is sold out already...
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Woah Woah Woah! Baseball isnt that big a deal in Boston? Is he kidding? I don't remember exactly what Whitlock said, but I remember Rocca's response, because he pointed out that the Sox/Yankees Game 7 had a higher TV rating in Boston than the Super Bowl. And Whitlock said something like, "That was a one-time thing, a fluke, because they had a shot to break the curse." And Rocca continued to ream him.
