Matt Young Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 While watching Smackdown (which just ended here on the left coast), I was thinking about starting a topic asking for everyone's theories on the identity of the mystery assailant who has been taking people out backstage on Smackdown in recent weeks. Obviously, we all know now that it was Kurt Angle. He injured Eddie in an attempt to prevent him from winning the Smackdown Royal Rumble. He faked an attack on himself so he wouldn't have to be Eddie's partner in the tag match, hoping Eddie would get beaten down 2-on-1 so that he wouldn't be able to receive his title shot. Finally, he took out Chavo Senior tonight in order to replace him as guest referee and do the job himself. Despite Angle being the obvious suspect, I was really starting to believe it might be Edge before tonight. Although rumor has it he's headed to Raw, he's due back very soon and it would make sense for him to attack people in such a manner seeing as how that's how he was taken out in storyline terms last February at No Way Out. He's also had big feuds with both Angle and Guerrero in the past. So, did any of you have any interesting theories, or was it basically common belief that Angle or Edge was the culprit all along?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 It couldn't be Edge unless they want to kill his comeback heat.
Guest Choken One Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 I'm convinced it's Really Jorge Paez. And Butterbean will return and knock him out.
Tawren Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 It's Mr. America, back from the dead.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 With all the Spanish wrestlers being pushed and the attacks being chair shots my guess is.... LA PARKA!!!
Guest Anglesault Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 I still don't know who it is. Edge would be a good choice.
Guest Choken One Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 it would fit the TRUE nature of Edge's inital character to attack random people... remember before the blondeness kicked in...he was the brooding outcast who hated the world... You can always say the attack in him awoken the tourtured soul in him again and it's letting the world know about it..

You can always say the attack in him awoken the tourtured soul in him again and it's letting the world know about it.. But like I said, I don't think they would risk killing off his comeback heat. I mean ok, let's say it's Edge. Where does he go from there? Brock? Angle? Rey? Eddie?
Matt Young Posted February 20, 2004 Author Report Posted February 20, 2004 Choken, even though I admittedly laughed my ass off week in and week out when Edge was playing the loveable doof alongside Christian, I loved the dark, brooding Edge (and in fact, most dark characters) and I think that your idea would work very well in making him a more credible threat if he is indeed going to make a run for the World Title.
Drury37 Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 It is the same guy that raised the briefcase. Thanks.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Since the storyline is still open, and Edge to Raw are just rumors, why not reveal it as Edge?
Guest JMA Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 I also thought it was Edge. He did several sneak attacks when he first debuted and doesn't know who attacked him. Edge has feuded with both Angle and Eddie. The only odd man out is Chavo Sr. But this doesn't mean much since we can now assume it was Angle.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 I think it would be cool if it actually was La Parka I mean who wouldn't mark for La Parka just showing up and it not leaking to the IWC?
Guest Anglesault Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 But this doesn't mean much since we can now assume it was Angle. No we can't. Angle was attacked as well.
Matt Young Posted February 20, 2004 Author Report Posted February 20, 2004 It is the same guy that raised the briefcase. Thanks. Bossman? That son of a bitch!
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 But this doesn't mean much since we can now assume it was Angle. No we can't. Angle was attacked as well. Not to the extent Eddie was. Think about it. He was able to come out later and lay out Cena and Show with chairshots. He could have just faked it.
Guest Suicide King Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Yes, but for the purpose of this theory we are assuming that Angle faked the attack on himself to get out of the tag match. If you recall, he did show up at the end of the show looking remarkably unbeaten up, as opposed to Eddie who returned at the end of a previous show looking very beaten up.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Yes, but for the purpose of this theory we are assuming that Angle faked the attack on himself Damnit, have those inept EMTs that can't figure out if someone has a real ailment or not returned? You would think they were all blackballed after the Brock debacle last July.

You would think after Brock fooled everyone, someone in the WWE would have hired EMTs who don't suck. Man, even in kaybfabeland the WWE is run by monkies.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Tonight's EMTs turned the lifeline monitor on before hooking it up to Chavo Sr. I call that inept

But in any event, faking an attack isn't totally outrageous.
Austin3164life Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 For it to make sense, and it would be great continuity, it has to be Edge. If it is, his comeback would make an impact to those around the upper-card level of SD.

Angle only makes sense if, on air, they say the EMTs suck or that he bought them off.
Austin3164life Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 This would be a perfect way for Edge to reinsert himself in the upper-card area of Smackdown (around Eddy, Angle, Cena, Show, & Brock). Have him keep attacking these guys, to have them all pissed at each other, and then they all look for him. That way, there can be fresh feuds for when he comes back (Edge/Brock, Edge/Cena, Edge/Eddy).
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Edge is headed to Raw though.
