Who would win in a fight...

Recommended Posts

I can't stand that Buffy/Angel/Firefly shit either, but I hate almost everything that's ever been on tv. I like Iron Chef, The Dukes of Hazzard, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, Jeopardy, Seinfeld, and almost nothing else. I like trivia, comedy, and childhood sentimental amusement. The antics of pretty white kids doesn't interest me.

Atleast you like the funniest show ever, Seinfeld.

In a fair fight, cave men. If each is given one of their weapons, astronauts. If the weapon is a big stick...cavemen.

And maybe I missed something in the past few months of exile but damn did some people have the bitch stick shoved up their pee-hole at the beganing of this thread.

Cavemen don't have lasers, they lose.

I don't mind Buffy et al, but Joss Whedon just seems like a 12 year old.

That said- the only show I make time to watch each week is Everwood, so obviously my opinion is null and void.

Isn't this assuming that Astronauts would have lasers? Anyways, I would take the astronauts because they are probably bigger in size and a lot more intelligent. The clubs may give them a bit of trouble though

How could anyone pick the astronauts. The cavemen, while smaller and dumber, are more feral, athletic and stronger. They would wipe the floor with the astronauts.

Well if it's a fight they may still have weapons. Regardless, we need more information damnit. How buffed up are the astronauts? Cavemen didn't seem that muscular though so the point may still swing the astronaut's way.

I hate people like you.

Anyway, I say the astronauts would win. You have to be in great shape to get through the training required to be an astronaut (a lot have previously been involved in the military). Not to mention the fact that the astronauts would simply be able to outsmart the cavemen.

The hunt? I thought we were just talking about theoretically throwing cavemen and astronauts into a room and letting them go at it.

I agree about the survival instincts, but I don't know if that would give the cavemen enough of an advantage.

Also are we talking about one caveman vs. one astronaut or a group of cavemen vs. a group of astronauts? The only reason I think the distinction should be made is because I could see an astronaut coming to his fellow astronauts aid happening more frequently than a caveman trying to save another caveman if he was getting his ass beat.

I don't think that many cavement lived to reach old age.

Their lifespans were fairly short.

It would hard to keep the fight even.

Yeah, I thought about this after I posted it. I think in that extreme case, the caveman would kill the astronaut but I think the average caveman against the average astronaut would be a different story

Everybody here is giving Cavemen way too much credit. And if I were an Astronaught and I was going to fight a Caveman, I'd bring my laser.

This assumes that this is a "meet me in the gravel pit after school" kinda fight, and not a "I got jumped by a Caveman outside the bar" kinda fight.

Well, I saw Quest for Fire and there's a scene where one caveman gorilla presses a log and chucks it at like 2 or 3 people so my vote goes to him.

I think the Caveman would win.

In the case of Extreme Strength vs. Extreme Skill, Extreme Skill *always* wins. At least, in every instance I have seen it has. The Caveman would have Extreme Strength, but the Astronaut doesn't have Extreme Skill; he probably has minimum skill. He probably knows a few hand-to-hand combat moves given his military training, but his actual experience in using it is between 0 and dick nothing. Astronauts are generally fighter pilots, and successful ones at that, so they were never in the same one-on-one situations a Caveman would be in. Cosmonauts are a different story.

Why do we assume that the Cavemen have "Extreme Strength". Cavemen are just men- probably malnourished men at that.

My assumption that the Astronaughts have lasers isn't nearly as far fetched. As we all know space travel=laser. It's a simple fact.

Under the "Caveman vs. Astronaught" with the "Locked in a Room Stipulation", I'm still giving it to the Astronaught. I'm betting he's bigger and in better shape.

Yep, that's what I was going to say

If the astronaught can utilize his speed and intelligence he'd probably have a distinct advantage as he would be able to tire down the caveman however if the caveman can corner the astronaught then the caveman could take it quite easily. So IMO it depends on how each side approaches this fight in order to determine a true winner.

Neanderthals were as formidable as the Ice Age environment they lived in.Their short squat physique was an ideal body shape for conserving heat. But despite their small stature, they had big, powerful muscles - a sign of the demanding lifestyle they led.

They looked out at their harsh world from under a bony ridge that arched across their foreheads. Set in the middle of their long faces was a long projecting nose that distanced the delicate tissues of the brain from the frozen Ice Age air.

They were skilled hunters, cooperating together in hunting parties. Neanderthals exploited the natural landscape to surround their quarry and make a kill at close range. This hunting practice left many Neanderthals with painful injuries.

Neanderthals were capable of speech, but their communication skills were not as advanced as our own. They also seemed to lack an understanding of abstract concepts such as art.

I'm still taking an Astronaught with the benefits of modern nutrition, weight training, and medicine over some short dude, even if he is built.

After reading RRR's post, I think that the cavemen would stand a better chance, but my vote still goes to Astronauts

consdering the Neanderthal men could literally ripthe astronauts arms from their sockets and beat them with them, I'm gonna take Cavemen.
