Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 I never saw this match. I'm pretty sure this was their first time ever wrestling televised or at least the first time for the title. How was it? Is this the match where The Undertaker chokeslammed Stone Cold from the top turnbuckle also?
Guest Ray Report post Posted March 1, 2004 I haven't seen it yet (although I may soon). They had a Raw match in 1996 before this one though. It was decent. The best match I saw from them was the underrated Summerslam 1998 match. Much smarter than people give it credit for.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 They had 2 Raw matches in 96 actually. I liked them both. I haven't watched it in years, but I never really cared for the Cold Day in Hell match. I can't remember too much about it though, other than the Hart Foundation's involvement and the finish.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 It's a pretty slow match at first...Austin just holds Taker in a headlock for a while. The finish really picks up though, and is good. Probably about a *** match.
Styles 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 I've always wanted this show, its extremely rare to find though because of the limited production. I've heard the Shamrock/Vader match was a partial MMA shoot and that Shamrock beat Vader bloody. Is there some truth to this?

They really start to beat the crap out of each other near the end, and Shamrock quickly grabs the ankle lock for the submission. HHH vs. Flash Funk is pretty decent. Mankind vs. Rock is okayish (Rock definitely wasn't that good at this point, but Foley takes some nice bumps). Ahmed vs. NOD sucks for the most part. Vader vs. Shamrock is a decent stiff match. Austin/Taker is about ***, which is the high star rating for the show. So an okay show, and yes, it's hard to find, but definitely not impossible.

Papacita 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 Also a very rare time in which you'll see Austin get tombstoned. I'm actually surprised they gave this match away on an IYH and then had Taker vs. Farooq for the title at KOTR. IIRC, there was only 2 weeks between Revenge of the Taker and Cold Day in Hell...not a lot of time to give the PPV a quality build, so they pretty much just threw Austin/Taker on there so that the show would sell itself...I guess. Also, Austin/Pillman (the original KOTR match) had a lot of heat going into it due to their past history, so it would've been more appropriote for a big 5 PPV than Taker/Austin would have been. I've heard the Shamrock/Vader match was a partial MMA shoot and that Shamrock beat Vader bloody. Is there some truth to this? Yeah, at one point in the match, Shamrock traps Vader in the corner and just starts going off on him with repeated knees to the face. He ended up breaking Vader's nose as a result.
