I'm watching RAW for the first time in God knows how long. Jindrak/Cade vs. HurriRosey is on, and Jindrak just hit a sweet ass Vertical Suplex...anyway, I got to thinking - was a reason ever released for why Jamal was fired? I remember it being really, like, abrupt, and him just being announced as being off the roster one day. Did any newsletters/sites release any info about why he was fired? I was gonna ask this in the RAW thread, but I figure I'd get a better response in a new thread, since people are posting every few seconds in there and it'll prolly get drained down without anyone seeing it. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Am I the only one who heard JR say something about "trying to get *Helms* out of the ring" during the last few seconds of the bout? Surprised he called him that...

I believe he had a domestic violence issue as well as some other things.

Other issues being his large suck factor and gut.

What's surprising about that?

They don't exactly hide the fact that The Hurricane is Hurricane "Gregory" Helms.

But he was a hoss. In the McMahon doctrine, a hoss = a prostitute. Why didn't they push him?

IIRC correctly, people said he had a bad attitude, and they knew Rosey and Jamal weren't in good shape. At least Rosey was a nice guy backstage though, I guess.

I don't think it was ever publically acknowledged by WWE about Jamal being released. The reason for his firing I believe was he assaulted a cop or something.

I also heard it's because he also wasn't the most beloved superstar in the locker room either. I believe I read that he had almost been to blows with several wrestlers.

J.R. always calls him Hurricane Helms. It's nothing new.

And I'm sure Jamal's release if I remember was due to some incident where he attacked a police officer.

1. He attacked a police officer in a nightclub (The cop was trying to kick his wife out and he took exception to it, IIRC)

2. He was sloppy in the ring, hurting or almost hurting several people during beatdowns including Pat Patterson IIRC.

3. He had a bad attitude

With the troubles the company has had over the last few years, #1 was the big reason and the combo of #2 and #3 sealed the deal.
