Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 I saw a Pride FC DVD in my local Best Buy as well as UFC #43(I think, it said June, 2003). Anyone know if they're worth picking up?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 UFC 43 is a good show if you like stand up striking more than the roll around the ground for 15 minutes type of match. Good show from from the early matches to the main event, alot of great unknown talent shown that they are ready for the big time. Falaniko Vitale and Yves Edwards were great. If you like Vitale get King of the Cage 3 & 4 dvd from Walmart for $5.50. The only problem with the show to me was the old ref, I'm not sure his name but he was the guy who screwed up 2 matches. The 1st one was the Tre Telligman vs Pedro Rizzo which was called early due to a cut and the second match which has the questionable finish would be Yves Edwards vs Eddie Ruiz which went too long. Edwards controlled the fight the whole match with his Muay Thai skills with the knees to the face and Ruiz was more or less just standing up for his pride, not wanting to get TKO, Ruiz did not go on offense much but just took a sick beating by a superior opponet. The match should of been stopped early in the 2nd round and not go the distance.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 I just saw Pride DVDs in Best Buy for the first time last night. I don't know which one you saw, but the two I saw in there were Pride 17 and 18. Championship Chaos (Pride 17) is awesome and certainly worth the $10. The other would be Cold Fury 2 (Pride 18). I haven't picked that one up yet.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 UFC 43 is _awesome_. One of the best UFC events I've seen. White vs. Freeman, Edwards vs. Ruiz and Couture vs. Liddell were all really good-great fights.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I picked up 43 and 44 last week. It was weird watching 43, with the big set and pagentry, and then watching 44, when they decided to cut their budget with all of that stuff gone. The two Couture fights were pretty freaking good, especially the atmosphere surrounding Ortiz/Couture.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Yeah, I thought the same thing watching Couture/Liddell last week. I was kinda split on them totally eliminating the sports entertainment stuff, but I think it works pretty well. Though, I miss Titos entrance How are the dvd's themselves? Extras? the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 They are pretty decent. The post Couture/Ortiz stuff in Couture's dressing room is pretty cool. Mostly just weigh-ins, prelim fighter entrances, and post fight interviews. 15 extras on 43, 10 on 44.
