Coffin Surfer 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2004 kobashi-misawa 6/11/99-How many times does it really need to be said? These guys haven't had a great match together since 10/97. After that their matches detiorated into slow, mindless head dropping, bad selling, ...etc. kobashi-kawada 10/18/96-Ugh. The first 30 minutes plays out like a uber slow, really boring match, while the last 30 minutes is just a bunch of stupid aimless head dropping and endless laying around(the real thing). Plus, you have Kobashi doing one of the worst Backdrop Driver sells of his career in the opening, which is saying alot. Try to watch this in one sitting without hitting fast forward, I dare you. misawa/kobashi-kawada/taue 6/9/95-Classic. kobashi-misawa 10/31/98-See 99, really how may times does it need to be said? Go watch their 93 Carnies match, instead. misawa-tsuruta 6/8/90-Classic. misawa-tsuruta 9/1/90-Classic. vader-inoki 1/4/96-One of the greatest true carry jobs of all time. hansen-kobashi 4/10/94-Step down from their 93 work, but Hansen makes up for it by busting out some of the finest selling you'll ever see. kobashi-taue 7/24/95-Very disappointing match. Good stuff with the Sleeper at the end. Their 96 TC match is light years better, featuring a classic performance from a more confident Taue. misawa/kobashi-kawada/taue 12/3/93-Classic. Kawada is God. kerry voneric-tsuruta 5/22/84-I've heard great things about it from people who's opinions I trust. kawada-taue champ carny 93-Great super fun match where they actually get some heat on submissions by using smart set ups. misawa-kawada 7/29/93-Slow start but it's rich in mind games and what not. Brutal finish plays an important role in 6/3/94. hansen-kobashi 4/16/93 -Classic. kobashi/misawa/hansen-kawada/taue/baba 3/24/95-Eh....kind of average. Guest Ray Report post Posted March 11, 2004 hansen/gordy-kawada/tenru 12/16/88 I have a big soft spot for this match, as it was the first AJPW tag I ever saw. Hansen and Gordy do a great job as the veteran heels taking out the weak link (Kawada, who SELLS HIS ASS OFF). I mean, they just beat the hell out of him. Kawada/Tenryu are great as the underdog team here. Hot crowd, dramatic near-falls, etc... Love it.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted March 11, 2004 hogan-muta 5/3/93 -This match I would probably rate in the **1/4 to *** area. Honestly though, this is probably the best I've ever seen Hogan do in a match though. flair-tsuruta 2/3 falls 4/24/84 -classic.....it doesn't get much better than this. kobashi-misawa 6/11/99 -I would say that CoffinSurfer is a little harder on this series of matches than I am, but this match has a LOT of headdropping and no selling. It's nothing compared to their 97 matches which agreeing with CS in his thinking that they are among their best. Still entertaining IMO though. kobashi-kawada 10/18/96 -Put it this way....it's not one of their best....that's for sure. kobashi-taue 7/24/95 -I kinda agree with CS on this one as well. It doesn't seem like Taue has come into his own as of this match. Funny the difference a year makes..... misawa/kobashi-kawada/taue 12/3/93 -Classic....this match really blew me away the first time I saw it......when I was 15........ benoit-liger 8/12/92 -Very good Jr's match. What else can I say, these guys work together just as good as anyone other two in the business ever has...... rude-chono 8/12/92 -This match has some solid work by Rude, but I am just not big on Chono. misawa-kawada 7/29/93 -Great match here, but for my money their 6/3/94 match owns this one. But it does serve for a good built for 6/3..... hansen-kobashi 4/16/93 -I think that this match is one of my all time favorite.....Hansen is great and both guys work together VERY well. takada-hashimoto 4/29/
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted March 12, 2004 rude-chono 8/12/92 -This match has some solid work by Rude, but I am just not big on Chono. I liked this match for the most part as Chono's body hadn't been destroyed by injuries yet.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 hogan-muta 5/3/93-Good for the spectacle of Hogan actually having to wrestle. He even busts a flying juji-gatame that he used to use when he was in NJPW regulary back in the early 80s. flair-tsuruta 2/3 falls 4/24/84-The only match I saw of these two was from 6/82 when it went to a draw, but I imagine that this match is just as good, if not better. misawa/kobashi-kawada/taue 6/9/95-Classic. Might be the apex of professional wrestling as a whole. misawa-tsuruta 6/8/90-Classic. misawa-tsuruta 9/1/90-Classic as well. vader-inoki 1/4/96-Greatest ass whooping ever, even if the ending was never in doubt. hansen/gordy-kawada/tenru 12/16/88-Great match. After Kawada gets taken out, it's pretty much 2-on-1 and it's a great story to tell. misawa/kobashi-kawada/taue 12/3/93-Like in 88, Kawada's knee is the focus, and it's the greatest sell job I've personally seen, ever. This will sell you on Kawada being the best seller on the planet. kerry voneric-tsuruta 5/22/84-One of the reasons why Jumbo is the very best. The fact that the Claw hand of Von Erich is the focal point of the third fall and the fact that Kerry sells it so well is just outstanding. rude-chono 8/12/92-Rude's best match ever, and one of Chono's greatest carry jobs to date. kobashi/misawa/hansen-kawada/taue/baba 3/24/95-Not the greatest match in the world, but certainly not the worst. Hansen going nutso near the end of the match is probably worth it. Also, the selling Kobashi, Misawa, and Hansen do for Baba's old man offense is comically appealing.
