Meaningless mat wrestling

Recommended Posts

Cole and Tazz impressed me at Mania simply through their calling of one section, and a fairly standard section at that - Angle's kneelift into an abdominal stretch. They put over how Angle was going after the midsection and even explained why Eddie was trying to shirt Angle's leg in order to decrease the leverage. You'd never get that sort of fine detail out of JR and King. NEVER.

The WWE right now has these submissions which are possable finishers. Crossface, anklelock, Guerrero's legock which he doesn't really use anymore, laying anklelock, Haas finisher, sharpshooter, triangle choke, Noble's front facelock and the taking care of buisness aka the dragon sleeper.

Every one of these moves are pretty much trademarks moves which means they can't be used by anyone else. So there are no moves the roster can do which'll finish a match or at least tease a finish. Nobody in the stands believe that most of the roster can actually win by submission. That's a problem. What's needed is some holds that can be used by anyone to finish a match. And than those holds need to actually finish a match here and there until they get over with the crowd as threats. A Fujiwar armbar or crossarmbreaker here would be great. A triangle choke would be good too. Even in All Japan where wrestlers very rarely tapped out the fans believed in trademark submission spots partly because those spots were built up in other leagues as being lethal. So if fans can believe that certain subs can end a match at any time they'll be more into matwork.
