THE LATEST VERSION

March 17, 2004

It’s V-One-uuuhhhh! I’m here with another rendition of the Latest Version containing the ongoing saga of Matt Hardy and his MFers. I hope that everyone is well and thriving--I’m doing just fine. The weather is warming up, and I can feel spring fever starting to develop. I’m counting down the remaining days of my detested winter, and getting ready for a Mattitude filled spring and summer.

WrestleMania XX is now over, and I thought it was a very strong show. Although it wasn’t a pay-per-view full of Mattitude, I still thought it was a great show in front of great fans in a great venue, Madison Square Garden. I had the best time I’ve ever had in New York this past week before WrestleMania. I got to see a lot, shop some, enjoy the nightlife the City has to offer, and much more. I also ate some of the best sushi and miso soup I’ve ever eaten, and anyone up on their Matt Facts knows I love both. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of New York City when I first started with WWE, it has grown on me greatly.

Random ramblings:

-Congratulations to both Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit for winning their respective World Titles. They are the two most deserving guys to win WWE World Titles that had never won them before. Chris and Eddie have given so much to the business and have now finally been rewarded with the ultimate prizes.

-The Matt Fact from last Monday was absolutely true—“Matt is ridiculously underrated.”

-Every time I look out my windows, I am very proud that I seeded both my front and back yards. I now have beautiful green grass.

-People are amazed that I know my way around almost every major city in America. I love being able to leave the airport in any city and automatically know where all the restaurants, gyms, hotels, shopping malls, arenas, etc. are. Pretty impressive, huh? Well, practice does make perfect, and I’ve had about six years to practice.

-I’m very excited about Edge returning.

-Someone recently bought me one of those high-tech massage chairs for Valentine’s Day, and I haven’t stopped sitting in it yet while at home. Nothing like a constant massage after being beaten up all week at work.

OMEGA, the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts, has actually been a pretty popular subject that I’ve been asked about a lot recently. For those of you who don’t know, OMEGA was the independent promotion that I operated in central North Carolina. My responsibilities included being the promoter, talent coordinator, booker, advertiser, wrestler, ring crew, poster hanger, ticket seller, everything. Although I had the help of some really good people, it was two handfuls. I think the worst part is when I would dress myself up like a “professional”--and go in local businesses with my silly-ass briefcase and ask people to sponsor the show. There’s nothing worse than being that guy that everyone dreads seeing ‘cause they know you’re asking for something. Fortunately, I built some really good relationships with these people, and they take pride in the fact that they helped me get where I am today. The whole OMEGA experience was a phenomenal learning experience, and I would have loved to know then what I know now about the business. It makes me proud that people acknowledge and appreciate all the hard work that went into OMEGA.

Recently, I was browsing around cyberspace, and ran into an interesting post--”Who is the best member of OMEGA?” It’s pretty flattering that people are still talking about former characters of ours, as well as old matches and storylines that we created in armories and high school gyms. I feel like the whole product we created was pretty awesome for guys who knew very little about the business at the time.

With all this in mind, I decided to update everyone on the status of former OMEGA members—

Matt Hardy - Currently competing in WWE, a five-time World Tag Team Champion, WCW Tag Champ, WWE Cruiserweight Champ, WWE European Champ, WWE Hardcore Champ. Has been on seven different WWE magazine covers, has 44 different action figures, has been in several different video games, and much, much more. Competed in OMEGA as Surge, High-Voltage, and Ignus Fatuus.

Jeff Hardy - Currently riding dirt bikes, building seven-acre motocross tracks, creating aluminummies, and experimenting with music. Was with WWE for five years and is a five-time World Tag Champ, WCW Tag Champ, WWE Intercontinental Champ, WWE European Champ, WWE Hardcore Champ, WWE Light Heavyweight Champ. My guess is that we’ll see Jeff in a WWE ring again one day. Competed in OMEGA as Wolverine and Willow the Whisp.

Shane “Hurricane” Helms - Currently competing in WWE, a former World Tag Champ, WWE Cruiserweight Champ, WWE European Champ, WCW Hardcore Champ. Competed in OMEGA as Kid Vicious, “The Show” Shane Helms and was one half of the Serial Thrillaz tag team.

Shannon Moore - Currently competing in WWE, a former WCW Hardcore Champ and my first MFer. Competed in OMEGA as Kid Dynamo.

Jason “Joey Abs” Ahrndt - Was with WWE for two years and is a former WWE Hardcore Champ. Jason is currently working within his family’s business and is inactive on the wrestling scene. Competed in OMEGA as Venom.

Marty Garner - Currently inactive from the wrestling scene. Wrestled as Cham Pain in OMEGA.

Joey Matthews - Has worked for both ECW and WWE already, currently competing in OVW and many other prominent independent promotions. Joey deserves to be a full-time WWE employee more than anyone else I know. Competed in OMEGA as Joey Matthews with his partner, Christian York.

Christian York - Worked for the WWE briefly, but currently inactive. He wrestled in OMEGA as Christian York.

Black Skull - Hailed from the “Heart of Darkness,” but Scott Matthews really lives in Carthage, N.C. Scott is currently the boss at an engineering firm and isn’t active on the wrestling scene. “Skulleto” and I both went to college together for engineering.

Otto Schwanz - Was with WWE for about a year. He is currently a high school wrestling teacher and occasionally wrestles on the independent scene. Competed in OMEGA as Otto Schwanz.

Mike Maverick - Whereabouts unknown. Was with WWE for about a year. Competed in OMEGA as Mike Maverick as one half of the Serial Thrillaz tag team.

Caprice Coleman - Currently wrestling for several prominent independent promotions. Wrestled in OMEGA as Ice.

Tracy Caddell - Currently working in sales and is inactive from the wrestling scene. Competed in OMEGA as TC Flexer and TC Brimstone.

Thomas Simpson - The guy who helped me keep things running smoothly and was an all-purpose type guy. Thomas is currently a professor and is still involved in the wrestling business. He is one of the biggest MFers and remains one of my close friends. He served as a figurehead in OMEGA.

Boom Winlow (real name Aaron Decker) -- He worked as a ref in OMEGA. Aaron is one of my closest friends and is doing phenomenal in the field of respiratory therapy.

Others who competed in OMEGA include Steve Corino, C.W. Anderson, Toad, Jamie Tucker, Sweet Dreams, Hydro, Foma, Gemini Kid, Chuck Coats, MJ Meltzer and Will Power. Out of this list, we had nine guys who signed with WWE, and a total of 14 who worked for WWE at least once. Pretty impressive, if I do say so myself.

As most everyone knows, my career the last couple of months has been in somewhat of a “slump.” The same sort of “slump” that all great Major League Baseball batters get into from time to time. Will I come out of my “slump” like these batters usually do? You damn skippy! Don’t ever forget--Matt Hardy is the originator of turning negatives into positives. I totally believe in the expression, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” When Mattitude gets its groove back and breaks out of its “slump,” it will be stronger than ever. If you don’t believe me, just watch. If you do, thank you. I have a lot of people out there who have faith in me and believe in Matt Hardy, and I don’t plan on letting them down. In closing, just remember this--“It’s always darkest before the dawn of a new day.” Adios amigo. Be well, and until then…..

Matt Hardy V1

The Sensei of Mattitude

I'm surprised that Joey Matthews is in OVW. I didn't know he was. I thought he was working with RoH last I knew.

Well, does he actually have a WWE development contract or is he just working OVW regularly?

Newly aquired. Don't even have a photo up on OVWrestling.com.

So I'm probably guessing he might've just been given a contract.

Hell, if he can't even have a good match with AJ Styles, then what makes Matt Hardy think that Joey Matthews should even be in WWE, other than the fact that Matthews is one of Matt's OMEGA buddies? He's just another Christian or Michael Shane to me, except a lot less carryable.

Why do I picture Jeff wrapping himself in Reynold's Wrap and dancing around?

I recall seeing a giant 20-foot "aluminummy" in WWE magazine one time in a tour of Jeff Hardy's house (it's frigging UGLY). I believe "they" are giant statues that he worships. ..

And he's built fourty of them or something.
