Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Oh and Angle NEEDS to be funny. Without in ring workrate Funny Angle > Bland Angle, and the delusions need to stop.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Oh and Angle NEEDS to be funny. Without in ring workrate Funny Angle > Bland Angle, and the delusions need to stop. Well, if you can travel back to 2001 and bring funny Angle here, by all means, do it. I still don't think the GM should be a boob, but whatever. Could you give me some of the unfunny 2002/2003 moments so I know where you're coming from? Every skit with Edge Every skit with Benoit Every skit with Cena. Basically, any time he tried to be funny over the last two years bombed miserably.

The skits with Benoit where Kurt said a bunch of stuff and Benoit just stood there and it made Kurt even angrier were funny.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I thought that was Eddie? He did one with Eddie/Chavo AND one with Kurt.
Kapoutman Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I would have liked Angle as a manager to Charlie Haas like somebody said. I think it could make him look special. I would have put Regal in the GM position. He is gold in authority roles. Okay, I know he was a RAW talent before his illness, but nobody would remember anyway.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I thought that was Eddie? He did one with Eddie/Chavo AND one with Kurt. Hell, I don't even remember the thing as being bad. I remember one or two really bad attempts at rekindling the Austin/Angle "Wabbit Season" bit, a burtally stupid costume party brawl, plenty of "whacky" in match stuff like hitting themselves with chairs, and the fact that they were feuding over the Stinkface. But I can't remember a skit like that. Do you remember an approximate date?

Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 This can't be it, right? After the break, Angle shouts at Benoit until Stephanie intervenes by making them a tag team next week, under threat of suspension for a year. Right afte WACKY~! Kurt hits himself with a chair.

Nah man, it was the week after Benoit was jumped and Los Guerreros tried to convince him it was Angle (who wouldn't mind being suspended because he was going to train for the Olympics), and Angle tried to convince him it was the Guerreros.

Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Ah, that. Now I know what you mean. No, I didn't find it funny. Especially since it came after the vastly superior Eddie skit. It was like the poor man's version of it.

Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Eddie ran the gamut of emotions, and Chavo punctuating it with "Shame on you, Mr. Benoit!" just made it. Also, when the Angle skit came up, you knew what you were gonna see (Angle playing off a stoic Benoit, just as Eddie did.)

Also, when the Angle skit came up, you knew what you were gonna see (Angle playing off a stoic Benoit, just as Eddie did.) Didn't matter. Angle had the best line of the night. Halfway through he looks at him and smiles... "You're jealous of my gold medals, aren't you?" Now the fact that he'd assume that jealousy was motivating this is just great character work.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Still not as good as "Shame on you Benoit"
Guest Banders Kennany Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Bradshaw for April, Big Show for May, Booker for Summerslam (Run a tag match at Vengeance) Haas for No Mercy. What about the Smackdown PPV in June? I still can't believe that WWE is going to book two Smackdown PPV's two weeks from each other. They book them months apart. RAW, Smackdown!, joint PPV. Where did you get this idea that they will do them two weeks apart? I'd give him a C/C- probably. He's doing ok but it's overly original or anything. I think William Regal should've been picked as the Smackdown GM. While he might be doing the evil GM deal he at least was different.

Styles Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I'm not liking Angle as GM. He just doesn't seem into it, like he's going through the motions and just desperately wants to be wrestling again. Heyman set the bar so high too. He was so perfect in the role, and really it was counter productive to remove him from it when he was carrying the show like he was. I too, would have liked to have seen Angle in more of a coach/mentor role, like leader of Team Angle again. He could be the mouthpiece/second that gets someone like Charlie Haas or Mark Jindrak (Anglesault just had a stroke), over to the next level with the fans. I liked serious, amateur coach/leader angle from early last year anyway.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 or Mark Jindrak Was that necessary?
Styles Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 or Mark Jindrak Was that necessary? When BRADSHAW is main eventing your next PPV, I think beggars can't be choosers and it becomes neccesarry to get some new people elevated...
