I got it. It pretty good. It is very in depth. I would say buy it. If you have any other questions ask.

I got it for the PS2 in preparation for a tournament for it this weekend. The fighting system is pretty in-depth since you can use the analog sticks to lean out of the way of punches and even parry and counterpunch. The rap soundtrack and urban influence might turn boxing purists and other people away though.

It's at least a solid rental to try out the controls.

The game is good, it's really hard to get up after you get knocked down. When I was playing as Hopkins I knocked out Trinidad and it looked like he was having a seizure.

The KO recovery screen is really tough to understand at first but I got the hang of it. I'm able to get up at the count of 2 on my first knockdown.

I also love the fact that you can overkill your opponent after the initial knockdown. I played as Chris Byrd vs Joe Frazier (Who has a SERIOUS glass jaw in the game) After he was knocked down, he fell into the corner and I proceeded to fire five or six more hooks at Frazier's head before the count started. My friend watched the replay with me and he summed it up by saying "That's not cool..."

I was playing as Ali and knocked Frazier (seriously) straight up in the air with an uppercut. It was only about 6 inches, but I got a good laugh out of it.

(Edit: 1000 posts motherfucker!!!!)

Good, but analog punching (the most hyped aspect of the game) was very much a letdown.

A big improvement over the KOK series, but I'll stick with Victorious Boxers 2 as my favorite boxing (and comabt game) around.

My created boxer had 100 strength by the time I got to all the legends and was facing Rocky Marciano at Caesar's Palace. Talk about a glass jaw. Bell rings we approach he tries a hook I duck it and fire off a right uppercut right on his leaned-in chin. BAM he's down in 5 seconds. He gets up and we start fighting a bit. He tries an uppercut I dodge and fire another right uppercut. Down again at the 1:31 mark. I then knock him silly and put him out of his misery at the :24 second mark.

The legends are really frustrating at parts. Roy Jones Jr. is a pain but I rope-a-doped him and dropped him in the 12th. Ali is a REAL bitch. Every time he got close he started running scared. I had him at like no energy at least half a dozen times and only managed to catch him and knock him down once, in the 13th. Ended up decisioning him in 15. Now I'm stuck against this guy who's actually maxxed out on everything. Oughta be interesting since I'm still a bit short on agility and stamina. Sparring is a pain later on, it's almost impossible to get 40k points on it. The only other main problem I have is sometimes I try to come out of my defense with a shot and it either locks and I just stand there or I end up throwing the wrong punch (especially when I try to throw a right hook, it almost always ends up an uppercut). Still a very fun game, and I'm looking forward to the other weight classes.

Japan only, unfortunately. However, I decided it was worth importing it, and since it's such a huge improvement on an already awesome game and in 90% English, I decided it was worth the cost of buying it and a Flip-Top/Swap Disk.

HIGHLY recommended on my end.
