Downhome Posted April 29, 2004 Author Report Posted April 29, 2004 Here are a few sorry pictures. Please excuse the quality, as I don't have a digital camera. These were taken with my sony Digital Handycam. I have a VERY short cord that goes from the camera to my computer, so I had very little room to work with. But still, a picture is a picture. The second one has Ed Wood in it, to go with Dracula, but you can't even tell because of the glare, oh well.
DMann2003 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Downhone is your copy of "Ed Wood" one of the few that got out, or a Region 2 release (I have one that's a DVD-R of the Hong Kong release, doesn't have all the special features, but at least I can watch the film on DVD for now)

I traded a guy at DVDTalk Leon: The Professional and a $22 Money Order for it. I'll pick Leon up again sometime pretty soon for cheap, as I love that film. It was either do that, or $35 straight up, and I decided to save a few bucks for now.
DMann2003 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 You're lucky there, man I hope Buena Vista gets their heads outta their ass and release it. I love these Legacy Collections, just to stay on topic
The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I got Ed Wood through Barnes and Noble. I gues they never shipped them back...so my girlfriend (who works there) bought one from the warehouse.
Downhome Posted April 29, 2004 Author Report Posted April 29, 2004 Virtually every store in my area that sells DVDS had loads of them in stock. I didn't think about buying it that week, because one I was low on cash at the time, and I didn't know about the recall. By the time I found out about the recall, almost a week after the release, every store in a 60 mile radius of where I live sold out of them.
cabbageboy Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 What's with all the hate for the Wolfman? Lawrence Talbot was always leagues better as a character than the Mummy. I'll admit to enjoying the Kharis series but Kharis isn't a terribly interesting character. And really the original Mummy is a thinly veiled rehash of Dracula with Imhotep in the place of the Count (hell both even have David Manners and Van Sloan doing the same basic characters). I'll admit that only the original Wolfman was a classic but Chaney, Jr. was also good as Talbot in Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, House of Frankenstein, and House of Dracula.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I don't care for Wolfman, Mummy or Black Lagoon. Of those three I like Mummy the best, but I can take it or leave it. The busts are the only reason why I'm buying the Gift Set, instead of just Dracula and Frank.
Bruiser Chong Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Same here. Although first, I'll have to find the fucking things. P.S. my Best Buy and Circuit City suck.
cabbageboy Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 I don't even consider Creature From the Black Lagoon a real horror series from Universal. It goes more in the 50s sci fi genre than actual horror. Besides, it's not like any of the Creature movies is any good to begin with. For all those who think the Wolf Man is a lesser monster, check out the earlier Werewolf of London on that DVD. Wolf Man is leagues better.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Well I never called Wolfman a lesser monster, I just never cared for his films.
cabbageboy Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Heh, well even I don't think that the Wolf Man was in a real classic besides the original. After that came the incoherent Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (How did Talbot come back to life? Why was the Frankenstein family so hated in Visaria considering the original tale happened in the village Frankenstein? What happened to the Monster's ability to talk using Ygor's brain?). Then from there the Wolf Man was mainly in the monster rallys like House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. It's actually quite interesting to note how similar Van Helsing looks to the "monster rally" B outings.
