So, uhm, Kurt's dead.

First of all, I think that The Big Show should be commended for how well he executed that angle (Honestly, there was no pun intended with that...)

Show believably conveyed the despair, torment and ultimately, rage, that his character was supposed to exhibit.  Watching him tell Torrie to "laugh for me, or so help me, I'll make you scream," was downright chilling.  The Smackdown crew and writers also made good use of the taped format to carry out an angle that they could never do on the live Raw.

I thought it was going very well, up until the whole car nonsense.

They should've ended it with Show's first encounter with Torrie--the one where he gets in her face, but at the end says "Sorry" and walks away. Instead they go completely over-the-top into a Wrestlecrap level angle that destroys suspension of disbelief and makes the company look like a joke. Yet another one of those "why I'm embarassed to be a wrestling fan" type of things.

Up until the car thing though, Show's character development was excellent. I gotta give him props for his reaction after the Eddie match. That was one of the few times I've actually seem them make the crowd look like the heel. It made Show very sympathetic, and his apology to Torrie made him a more complex character--he lost it, but he realizes he lost it. They could've gone forward with that.

And if they were insistent on doing the Show killing Kurt nonsense, they at least could've made Kurt and Bradshaw be the ones that mock him, which results in Show going nuts on Kurt. Not overly interesting, but far preferable to the car-smashing, threatening a bad actress garbage.

However, I do wish that they hadn't thrown Charlie Haas into that ridiculous match with Rico.  After Angle's brush with death at the hands of The Big Show, having Haas visit his former mentor in the hospital, and swear revenge, could have been a great way to bring Haas into a main-event level feud.  The Haas-Show feud could even have ended with Charlie locking in a devastating Haas of Pain, forcing Show out for several months to have the knee surgery he has been putting off.

Dude...that would be an awesome angle. One of the best fantasy booking ideas I've read.

Aah, the fun of fantasy booking...

Ya know what?

That's a really fucking good idea. Kudos. Too bad it's not ever going to be realized. Though I do like the idea of Charlie wrestling for Kurt. Kinda like when Team Angle carried around that portrait of Kurt everywhere.
