The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 I've seen some mocks lately that have Rivers going ahead of Big Bust Roethlisberger. There are a few teams that are higher on Rivers than Ben (Buffalo, Pittsburgh) and there's been talk of both trying to trade up to take him.
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 If Manning doesn't want to play for SD... I highly doubt him being drafted #2-4 is going to really be a "fuck you" to him. He'll still get paid. Just to clarify here. Does Manning just not want to play in San Diego, or is it specifically New York that he wants to play for? Would he be happy with Arizona or Oakland?

No one knows. Archie stated that he never mentioned a particular team to the Chargers...just that he'd sit out if they picked him.

I thought he was just not thrilled with the idea. Elway was an asshole when he did it too.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 one has to assume he wants to go to Giants for the endorsment cash, because if he wanted to be on a good team, he'd stay the hell away from New York as a whole. but the Raiders and Cardinals have already said several times that they aren't interested in a first round quarterback (which is odd since they both could use one) it'd be great if like Cleveland trades up for him and he ends up holding out on them too.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 If Cleveland trades up it will be to get Gallery.
Damaramu Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 And from what I've heard....Gallery is the only sure fire thing in this draft. He's the only one that everyone KNOWS for a fact will be a star and will be a workhorse.

He's the only one that everyone KNOWS for a fact will be a star and will be a workhorse. Gallery is gonna be a Raidah. And I'm progressively getting happier by this although they need a QB badly, hence my pick in the mock draft.
2GOLD Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Only thing that makes sense is to trade down. NEVER take an offensive lineman with the first pick in the NFL draft. It just doesn't seems to work out well.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Gallery is gonna be a Raidah. I don't know about that Banky. From the things I've read Al Davis is head over heels in love with Roy Williams. He's just amazed by his speed, strength, and athleticism. It appears the Raiders would like to draft him and have a 1-2punch of Williams and Porter at WR for when Rice and Brown retire after this season. Either way we see tommorow afternoon

Nevermind. I had a mental slip. What number is Oakland drafting at?
the pinjockey Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 There is no excuse for the Raiders not trading down if Roy Williams is their guy. They can get a nice haul from Cleveland for Gallery. With Zona taking Fitzgerald and I don't see the Giants, Washington, or Detroit going WR so he should still be available.
Damaramu Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 One thing I wonder.....how do they always have the Jersey made for them in the draft? What if you've got the jersey ready and he gets stolen from you?
the pinjockey Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 I just always figured the teams had a jersey for each player they were considering since only the top teams few teams do it.
KingPK Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Yeah, I think only the top 5 picks or so get jerseys, the rest just get a hat and the team does press conference the week after the draft to introduce him and give him a jersey.
Guest Flyboy Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 What if you've got the jersey ready and he gets stolen from you? ... boy.. oh boy.
Damaramu Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 What if you've got the jersey ready and he gets stolen from you? ... boy.. oh boy. What? It's true. The Cardinals are like "We've got Fitzgerald!" and suddenly the Raiders take him.........jeez.....what the hell is your problem? I think it's a legitimate question.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Ya, its usually the top 5 or so...and most of the time they end up changing the number on the jersey given as well. Its pointless
Damaramu Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Ya, its usually the top 5 or so...and most of the time they end up changing the number on the jersey given as well. Its pointless Another thing I always wondered....why do so many picks get booed? McNabb got booed when the Eagles chose him.....and I think Couch got booed when the Browns selected him.
the pinjockey Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Donovan McNabb got booed because since the end of the college football season that year, when it was apparent that Couch was going one, a campaign was started to get Ricky Williams. Everybody, including the Mayor of the city, was doing all they could to get Williams. Come draft day Angelo Cataldi of WIP rounded up 30 of his let's say more devoted listeners and sent them up to show support for Williams. When McNabb was announced, those people weren't exactly thrilled. So in conclusion, people are stupid sometimes.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Plus as an Eagles fan I hate him. As an Eagles fan, don't you hate everything?
Agent_Bond34 Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 What number is Oakland drafting at? Number 2
Vern Gagne Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 They've gotta draft Gallery. He looks like a Raider.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Gallery certainly does look like a Raider...and he wants to be one. But really, who wouldn't?
Damaramu Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 As an Eagle fan......I love McNabb. So...I dunno.
Gert T Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Don't they just give them a jersey with a No. 1 on it? Unless they've signed a deal earlier like Carson Palmer last year. The problem with the Raiders trading with the Browns is that they basically show their hand that they would take Roy Williams at # 7, and the Lions would be fielding a lot of calls for the 6 pick, possibly Jacksonville at #9.
Guest Flyboy Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Don't they just give them a jersey with a No. 1 on it? Unless they've signed a deal earlier like Carson Palmer last year. Exactly, Gert T.
the pinjockey Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 True, but if someone hops up to grab Williams then you end up with Winslow or Taylor as a consolation prize. Taking in a nice haul from Cleveland and ending up with Taylor, Winslow, or the man you really want seems like a good deal to me. Some teams fall in love too much with players. I like Roy Williams too, but there is too much depth in this draft at WR to pass up a deal just to grab one of them.
2GOLD Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Why are these announcers talking about how Gallery will be the next big star in the NFL? He's an offensive lineman! After the draft, the only time you'll hear about him is if you are watching the Raiders and see his name in the line-up. We aren't going to see many GALLERY jerseys and you aren't going to see many highlights about him on Sportscenter or FOX Sports Net or your local news. And if the Chargers take Manning instead of drafting down when they have so many more needs than QB, a position they might already have a good one if they would give him a damn second year, then I think they may dethrone the Bengals as the stupidest drafting team in NFL history. 35 minutes until the damn 15 minutes between picks. God, I hate that.
