Guest The Midnight Rocking Warrior Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I really liked the movie, for those of you who haven't seen it ( Keith Richards mode) C'mon you bastards we have to feed Tom Jane's babies!
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I've never read the comic, but does The Punisher outsmart his foes there as he does here ? Pick up the aforementioned "Welcome Back, Frank" TPB, other than maybe two times, he made the Gnucci soldiers look like incompetant boobs(but then again... that isn't too hard to do). He does some pretty creative stuff that got a chuckle out of me, personally. As for the movie itself: I loved it. Jane was awesome and the writing for the Punisher character kicked ass. Kinda disappointed that they didn't let the Russian talk because his dialogue from comic was friggin' great. About the only thing that I would say bothered me was how much comedy was in the movie, but the final battle and Frank's machinations on Howard and his wife and best friend more than made up for that. Kaertos 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I understand the purpose the neighbors had in the movie (comedy relief, make Frank feel connected to the world again), I just think they went overboard. It could have been far more subtle than the one with piercings telling Frank flat-out "We are your family now." I don't know. I guess when it was said and done, I wanted a little less goofiness in the middle of the movie. It was almost like I was on a great thrill ride having a blast, and right in the middle of the ride it turned into a silly cartoon, then back into a thrill ride. The change was too abrupt and jarring. I groaned when the neighbors showed up onscreen because I knew it was getting away from the story I paid money to see: The Punisher getting revenge,

They changed some things in this(like the bad guys) but they kept a lot from Welcome Back Frank the same. If they'd have taken out the neighbors I would've been swinging. Guest JMA Report post Posted May 1, 2004 I FINALLY saw this movie tonight. Other things had prevented me from seeing it. Let me just say that I'm glad I did see it. - As others have mentioned, the way Castle set up Glass and Libya was beautiful. I saw it coming and that made it all the more sweet. - I loved the ending. It was almost like Castle LITERALLY sent Saint to Hell. - I was afraid that would make Castle and Joan have a thing with each other, and I'm glad they didn't. It was WAY too soon for a love interest. As for a sequel, I've heard they're already starting production on it. Of course, I heard it on TV Guide Channel so take it with a grain of salt.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 I saw the movie tonight with my best friend and she hated all the violence. Me on the other hand, loved it. She figured it was to violent and was surprised it even got on screen with kids dying. But to me it was cool because thats how the story goes. I found this movie to be much better than hellboy, because it wasn't full of funny one-liners and just all about the fights in Punisher were good, unlike Hellboy where they got very disapointing towards the end to the end of that movie. The comedy should be left in the movie to make not sorta light hearted so people not so high on violence, fight scenes, and drama can enjoy it. My friend liked this move as I loved this movie. It was true to the story unlike Daredevil, probably the most violent Marvel movie that Marvel has really put out recently, and I'll be getting the DVD when that comes out. Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 Got it on DVD today. Got to say I loved how they didn't tone the violence down, even if it was a Marvel movies. I also liked Travolta in this movie. He plays it real low key, and you (almost) feel sorry for the guy at the end of the movie. But there were several side stories that were cut out of the movie that were in the novelization, and the fact that they weren't even inculded in the deleted scenes was disapointing. Maybe they'll release a delux DVD when the sequal comes out.
