Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Well, the newest debate in Yankee-land is whether or not to pitch Javy on three days rest against Pedro or use that crappy guy that started Tuesday. I'd go with Javy. I don't care what month it is, in a division that will probably end with a very close first and second, you can't just constantly hand games to the other team. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2004 Moose needs some kind of help, be it mental or physical. Why? What's happening tonight? At least Toronto is helping you guys out. Chris Gomez just hit his first career Grand Slam off Schilling to put the Jays up 7-3 in the 8th.

Yup, I guess steroids are no worse than smoking. I guess that revenue-sharing --- which will only boost attendance as crap teams will have some money to keep their talent --- will suck because, well, a bunch of Yankees might drop a few bucks. Unions are seldom beneficial to society. The MLBPA is less beneficial than most unions. Heck, if not for the umpires' union before the laughable "walk-out", I would be hard-pressed to name a more asinine union than the MLBPA. -=Mike

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2004 Yup, I guess steroids are no worse than smoking. I guess that revenue-sharing --- which will only boost attendance as crap teams will have some money to keep their talent --- will suck because, well, a bunch of Yankees might drop a few bucks. We didn't have ANY revenue sharing until after the 1994 strike. Then a revenue sharing plan fell into place, and THEN the Yankees started winning and spending. Revenue sharing was an absolute failure because teams, notably the Twins, Expos and Brewers, realized they no longer had to place a winning product on the field in order to make money. The Brewers currently spend LESS on payroll than they receive in revenue sharing. If they aren't spending the money they get NOW, why should they get any more? I've never understood why fans and analysts (George Will comes to mind) who are entirely conservative start picking up socialist ideals when it comes to sports. Unions are seldom beneficial to society. The MLBPA is less beneficial than most unions. I'm not an expect on Unions, so I'm not getting into that argument. But how exactly is the MLBPA hurting baseball, and fans in general? The Yankees' outspend everyone? I don't see the rings. Heck, if not for the umpires' union before the laughable "walk-out", I would be hard-pressed to name a more asinine union than the MLBPA. The MLBPA is the most successful union in the country. I'd hardly call them asinine.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Sheffield and Giambi have high OBPs. At this point, I don't give a shit. We're paying this team to hit the fuck out of the ball, not this walk-error-ground out-single for one run crap we've been getting.

We're paying this team to hit the fuck out of the ball, not this walk-error-ground out-single for one run crap we've been getting. Dude, OBP is the entire point of the game. It means you're not collecting outs, but getting on base, which leads to runs, and hopefully big innings. When? Perhaps the next time Alex Graman looks like a viable option. Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 I'd take Triple-A Jose out of the starting rotation and put in Osbourne. Yanks do need some kind of left-handed arm out there in the starting rotation, just to keep the opposition off-balance. And if Mussina continues to struggle, swap him and Brown until Brown gets hurt.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Mussina had a decent enough game Thursday. Besides, there isn't an overwhelming difference between number one pitcher and number two, especially once the year gets rolling. I'm actually starting to feel really bad for Jose. You can tell that he's trying to prove his worth, but he's like a deer in headlights when someone gets on base.
