LucharesuFan619 Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I did an interview with ECW veteran Rockin' Rebel this past weekend at a CCW show in Langcaster, PA. We focused exclusively on his CZW-related endeavors, since the article was to be posted on CZDub.com. However, to be frank - that probably isn't going to happen. The interview, to say the least, was extremeLy anti-CZW. Rebel told me that he is VERY unhappy with the way John Zandig is running CZW and the way he's treating his talent. In our interview, Rebel discusses: - how he got into CZW - what his initial impressions of John Zandig were when he first met him - what he thinks of John Zandig now - his reaction to The Backseat Boyz' departure from CZW - what it's been like to work with Greg Matthews over the past few years - what it's been like to work with Derek Frazier over the past year and a half - why Zandig refuses to push Frazier, regardless of how over he is with the fans - the scoop on Zandig's abuse of political power when it came to Rebel and Matthew's bookings outside of CZW - Zandig's disrespect towards his talent and unwillingness to take advice - working with Justin Credible a few months ago in CZW - working for WORLD-1, and how Steve Corino compares (or shall I say, doesn't compare) to John Zandig as a boss - his opinion on WORLD-1 - the scoop on his dealings with XPW when they came to Philly - what he expects from CZW in the coming months - and more Some of what he said I won't be able to print because: 1. He told me it was off the record. And 2. Quite frankly, I don't want him to lose his CZW job, and that would probably happen if I printed some of the stuff he said about Zandig. To say the least, though, Rebel is extremely disgruntled regarding CZW and more specifically John Zandig. Also, I'll give a quick example of one thing he had to say. As recently reported, Greg Matthews recently left CZW. Here's what Mike Johnson had to say about the matter: Greg Matthews, who may be best known as one of the finalists on the first season of Tough Enough, is gone from the promotion. Matthews, who hurt his shoulder several weeks back, was unhappy with how the promotion was using him. Matthews had been teaming regularly with Rockin' Rebel and the pair had held the CZW Tag Team championship several months back. According to Rebel, that report is pretty accurate, but it goes significantly deeper. Matthews - according to Rebel - "was tired of John Zandig's shit" and got out of CZW while he still could. And he's been gone from the company for several months now. It's nothing new, although the story really just now became public. More on the reason Matthews left in the next week, when I post the recap of my interview with Rockin' Rebel. Also, within the next two or three days, expect a full report from the CCW show this past Saturday. It featured Matthews, Rebel, and some various non-well-known indy wrestlers from the area.
Placebo Effect Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Damn, looks awesome. While he probably mentioned it, the reason Rebel won't get fired is because, if I remember correctly, Rebel works with CZW in the capacity of securing insurance and dealing with the PA commisioners.

Ya, that's where the XPW deal comes into play. Since he is the guy who holds the license, he had to deal with XPW when they wanted to run in Philly.
1234-5678 Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Did you/could you ask him his thoughts on 3PW?
LucharesuFan619 Posted April 20, 2004 Author Report Posted April 20, 2004 Did you/could you ask him his thoughts on 3PW? No, didn't think to. I prolly should've though. I'll email and ask him and see if he wants to send a response about his work for 3PW.
1234-5678 Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 He and Jack Victory make a hilarious old school tag team in 3 P DUB.
LucharesuFan619 Posted April 20, 2004 Author Report Posted April 20, 2004 They also team in World-1. I'll also ask him what it's been like to team with Jack. Hopefully those questions can be added to this interview.
