Hirohito?

Hirohito is going to be a terrorist and put poison gas in all of the limos that drive up to the arena late.

Those slackers DESERVE to be poisoned by toxic gas.

There's no excuse for arriving at the arena an hour after the show starts.

The video apparently says he hasn't forgotten WWII when the U.S. bombed Japan or something like that. I don't know. Either way, he's the "EVIL FORIGENER", so we will about a million "USA" chants for all this.

Your ignorance is astounding.

He is a hoss but a foreigner, so maybe those things cancel each other out and he'll be in the midcard in a bit.  He's probably a little better than everyone thinks, since most people only know him from that one TNA match with Saturn who made him look bad on purpose.

Agree with the point about Saturn, there's some drama for you there.

Why not step into the Puro folder and ask what they think of him. I've seen several of his matches from Japan and I can safely say he sucks. He has a very limited moveset.

Because I don't need to ask the puro folder what they think of anything. I've seen several of his matches as well, and I can safely say there are lot worse wrestlers out there [and a lot of them are already on the WWE roster].

Would the average WWE fan even accept a Japanese wrestler with limited English skills as a babyface?

Worked for Funaki. :)

Bring in Sonny Ono as his manager!!

Be rest assured that

a) Sonny Oono likely doesn't have to work another wrestling day in his life, as I'm sure he collected big on the racial discrimination lawsuit against WCW.

b) Since he was the cause of all that, no intelligent employer, especially one that has crossed the race lines more than once, would ever touch the guy.

But yeah, Sonny rocked.

Surely he can come up with a more effective dispersal method than carrying garbage bags filled with poison gas and then poking holes in the bags, though, right?

I love this guy's bio:

HEIGHT: 6'3''

"...one of Japan's tallest wrestlers..."

Eh that's not really accurate depending on how you play with words.

Takayama, Yasuda, Taue and probably a few others are all taller in the 6'4"-6'5" range.

And there's plenty of guys in the 6'3" range. There's not alot, but there's still a decent number.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY are they pulling this nonsense. I though the WWE was the company out of the north. I never knew the biggest growing part of the WWE audience was the ignorant hick. God, and I thought Team Canada was weak. If they keep up this, I'll boycott them like they bloody derserve and spend my money getting more anime. They won't push the Ultimo Dragon, one of the greatest wrestlers to ever grace this business, but they'll push this stupid racial slur. Screw them. I've put up with enough. I thought this company was on the upswing. If they go through with this they've officially lost a viewer until they drop it. I'm not even Japanese and I'm offended. God, I wish WCW was still around.

I'm personally more offended that they're turning one of America's biggest historical threat's and one of the modern world's most insane leaders into a WWE character. What's next, the return of Alex Wright as Adolf Hitler II?

...come to think of it, WCW did kind of try that...

Oh, and I'm still looking for a video link!

Wouldn't it be great if we got a Japanese guy who came in and wasn't supposed to be some stereotypical, mysterious, mischievous foreign heel...

Didn't Tajiri basically do that?

Is Tajiri allowed to speak much beyond random Japan-american gibberish?

Is he not the crafty foreign guy that knocks people away with his "karate kicks" crazy tarantuala hold, and sprays that green mist in people's face?

Tajiri is the only one that went anywhere far, and that was because of his ECW work and Heyman's influence. That, plus the fact that he's small and could wrestle Mysterio well and never complains has kept him around.

That was his gimmick in ECW. I mean nothing has really changed since he's came to the WWE, but I wasn't talking about his gimmick in general because I don't think he even speaks english that well. I've never heard of him speaking good english on or off tv. Anyways I was talking about the way he was introduced on WWE tv. He just walked into Regals office, and basically said "Hi, I'm Tajiri and I wanna work for you.".....just not that well. I mean he wasn't the secretative japanese guy or anything. He was just Regal's right hand guy until his first match, then his first match he surprised the marks in the WWE crowd and the people who didn't know who he was because no one really talked about his matches in ECW or even mentioned him being in ECW until Heyman called him the Japanese buzzsaw from ECW. As far as his gimmick goes, he's always been the crafty foreign guy who had the vicious stiff kicks and crazy ass moves since his days in ECW.

Emperor Hirohito was monarch of Japan during World War II. I guess that's where all the American hate stems from.

Its just STUPID for the WWE to use the name "Hirohito", and the promo they ran last night was horribly inaccurate.

I'm personally more offended that they're turning one of America's biggest historical threat's and one of the modern world's most insane leaders into a WWE character.

I think you're thinking of Tojo.

Let me clarify this.

Hirohito didn't get Japan involved in the war, the Japanese military did. The Japanese military invaded Manchuria in 1931 without the support of the Japan's democratic government. By the late 30's, the military had control of the government.

While Hirohito took few steps to stop the war, evidence shows that he opposed getting the U.S. involved. He also opposed the alliance with Germany. When the war ended in 1945, Hirohito remained in power (although this was mostly a ceremonial position).

Hirohito assisted General MacArthur in his efforts to reform the Japanese government in the late 1940s. Hirohito remained emperor of Japan until 1989 (during the lifetime of every Japanese worker in the WWE), when he died. He was the longest reigning emperor in Japanese history.

Yes it bloody is, we should be above this. Japan, to the best of knowedge, long ago dropped the "oh, he's a gaijin, therefore, he's evil" routine a while ago.

*puts a DBZ DVD under Masked Man of Mystery's tongue. :D*

Not surprisingly, WWE once again reveals that not only do its writers have a poor grasp of history and geography, but they're also too lazy to do a little bit of research.

Oh, well I'm not a big history person. My friend is and called him "Hiroshito" so I guessed he couldn't have been such a good guy, and from the way WWE was using Pearl Harbor and the Enola Gay and such, it seemed like they were trying to exploit one of America's enemies...

Maybe the WWE should make Chavo, Sr. and Chavo Jr supporters of the Mexican Empire during the Texas War for Indepedence. Bring out a huge picture of Santa Ana, and a Mexican Flag.

You are taking the WWE's word for a situation involving a foreign country. Just think about that for a second.

Hirohito is not a hated person in Japanese history, and although they won't be picketing outside the WWE's office I would think the average Japanese person would be offended by this. Offending people for no reason may be WWE policy, but its just stupid.

When do Chavo, Sr and Jr. cut a promo supporting Santa Ana and the Mexicans?
I can totally see that.

I remember Booker T cutting a promo on William Regal once where he referenced the American Revolution.

Hey, that reminds me...

...didn't the last Steve Austin t-shirt have a Confederate-like flag on the back of it?

Yeah, but you seem to be, how can I can I put this, SERIOUS.

Relax, the evil foriegner gimmick still works fine. Don't get your panties in a bunch just because the Japanese are the bad guys this time round.

It may work, but I feel ignorant if I'm watching and I see it. And this isn't the first time. I was very much against the La Resistance angle when I heard about that. There's a better way to do a foreigner gimmick. Tajiri does it well. He walks a certain way, he fights a certain way, it looks unorthodox, even in the cruiser division. He sells his Japanese hertitage in his mannerisms, not "Oh, I'm Japanese, I am better than you Western swine!" Of course, I also cringed every time Tajiri came out with Torrie and they said that he made her dress up like a geisha. Uh, she wasn't, not really. She was just dressed in a kimono. It's true geisha wear them, but so do normal Japanese women. If she had the white facepaint, then we'd be in business, but the WWE is just so bloody zenophobic. If he becomes like Kaientai and just waves the flag, then I wont be bothered so much, but if he's pulling the "I am not American, therefore I am superior and also evil!" gimmick. If teye do that, I am not going to watch. They won;t give my favorite wrestlers airtime and they do stuff I think is stupid, I put my money and time elsewhere. Seems logical enough to me.
