Guest Coffey Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 I'm looking for a site where I'd be able to type in an English word or phrase and have it show me that Japanese writing of it.... I'm ignorant on the subject, so I'm asking others for help. I attempted a Google search, but came up fairly empty handed. I just stumbled across a few generic words, whereas I'm looking for something specific. Can anyone help?
Der Kommissar Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Have you tried the altavista translator? I believe that has something to translate in Japanese on it.
Use Your Illusion Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 www.dictionary.com has a translator link on the main page.
elite Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Have you tried the altavista translator? I believe that has something to translate in Japanese on it. It does, indeed. http://world.altavista.com/
Guest T®ITEC Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Here's a nice little dictionary, just in case. http://www.freedict.com/onldict/jap.html
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 You could just ask me, y'know. I'm fluent.
Guest Coffey Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Yeah, I'm just getting a bunch of square boxes instead of any Kanji or anything like that. Do I need some sort of plug-in or something?
Jobber of the Week Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 (edited) Nevermind, this isn't as helpful as I thought. Edited April 24, 2004 by Jobber of the Week
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 www.dictionary.com has a translator link on the main page. Dammit! That's what I was going to say! Internet translators aren't perfect though and, Dictionary.com only or not, confess that it is no substitute for a competent human translator.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Earlier, I would've posted a question in Japanese asking AoO if he is indeed a competent human translator, but since my computer deletes everything whenever it is rebooted (among other things), I'm yet to have the language pack installed, and I'm not waiting.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Don't bother, I was bullshitting.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 You realize you've just blown a great chance to have a good deal of fun at the expense of our young aussie friend.
